I'm reviewing a Nikon D70s right now. I need a bloody Raw Processor and I'd prefer to avoid the one that came with it since it's not "fully featured"

Stupid Nikon and their proprietary formats :irked:

here is one from sunday. castle falkenstein, near königstein. its on top of a small mountain, surrounded by a forest. we went there at 11pm in a windy night, in the forest it was pitch-dark and of course none of us brought flashlights. we only had a tiny little one that goes with keys to find the keyhole, so the walk to the castle was extremely gloomy. but when we finally saw the tower, illuminated by orange light, shining through the trees and then went through the gate into the illuminated court it all payed off. on top of that mountain, with the wind howling round the tower and trees and the city of frankfurt on the main, lit up in the distance beneath, the scene was just gorgeous.

Here are some unaltered images I took tonight at the hotel I'm staying at. I'm gonna clean them up with NeatImage and then do a little cropping.

Alright guys, time for me to play!

I just started a photography class in college, and I plan on posting pics I take and develop myself. I can't wait to get started. 👍

I love this thread, I check it all the time. Everyone in here has talent in their own right. I hope I can express mine much like you all have!

My Contributions. I'm still not getting used to this DSLR thing. :grumpy:

both of them - excellent shots. What dslr did you use for them? I'm in the middle of reviewing a D70s right now.

emad, was that last shot taken with the D70s you're reviewing? What are your general opinions on it?

I was this close to buying one (the kit) for less than 700€ a few days ago... and I didn't... 👎
I think I'll regret it. :grumpy:

yea, it was taken with the D70s. So far, the camera is great for my first experience with a DSLR. It's got some occasional quirks where it absolutely refuses to shoot pics for no reason, and I find that sometimes indoor raw images end up rediculously noisy and I haven't figured out how to clean that up yet.

Outdoor performance has been nothing short of stellar up to now, but I find that auto mode seems to love using the pop-up flash.

Indoors, most photos come out well enough, but high ISO will obviously be very noisy. The onboard speedlight is still fairly decent.

So far, it's great but $1200 canadian for a 6.1mp dslr is a bit much - especially when the Rebel XT is 8mp and costs the same... but then again, the Drebel lacks some of the higher end capabilities of this one (ie, 1/8000 shutter speed, the higher continuous shot buffer, etc.)

That's weird... I've seen many, many pictures taken with it (on review websites) and I've never spotted any problematic noise. And noise is something that I always pay attention to because I can't stand it.
As for the Rebel XT, personally, I wouldn't trade it - I've compared exact same shots and the Nikon ones always seem to look better to my eyes.

Anyway, I was stupid for not buying it. :grumpy:

@vladimir: Although the framing isn't great, I like that airplain shot. 👍

Could it be the Nikkor lens? I've noticed that sometimes the lens makes a huge difference in the image quality and a minor color difference...

I tend to check that as well. But normally the reviews and comparasion shots are done with the camera's own kit lenses, and those are the ones I compare.

Something I shot last night at The Landing. There's a few more shots that I took , but I'll post those later today.

Still, the shot came out decently considering it was a "macro" done by the stock lens and without a tripod at that

You have a D50, right?

Nice pictures anyway. I like the first one a lot. 👍

Any post processing, or straight off the camera?

EDIT: Oops. I was talking to 2ez2KiLL. But those fireworks look very nice as well, vladimir. 👍
