*EDIT* VOTING NOW OVER SEE POST 10 FOR YOUR WEEK 10 RESULTS!

Hello everyone and welcome to week 10 of the NRS!

This is going to be a TWO week race due to christmas falling next weekend, so the official dates for week 10 are as follows :

Start : 19/12/2005

Finish : 02/01/2006 @ 9PM GMT

The end time is 1 day longer due to me being in Scotland over new year celebrations....which should be fun

NRS WEEK 10 "SUPERCARS" 500BHP+

Right onto week 10's cars,As a thankyou for his leaderboards this weeks cars have been tested and picked by Bart (Onlyme) who is putting in some great work behind the scenes providing us with not only a great leaderboard each week, but also results listings with things like your average speeds which i find quite usefull and interesting, so thankyou Bart and keep up the good work. I tested his choices yesterday and must say he was spot on, all of these 5 are massively impressive in their own way, all with unique characters, which will you choose....?

The BMW M5

The McLaren Mercedes SLR
The Ford GT 05
The Amuse S2000 GT1
The TommyKaira ZZII

So all worthy of the next two weeks drive but some tough decisions to be made i think!

As usual send me your top 3 in a PM by Monday (19/12/2005) 9PM GMT and avoid discussing your voting on here 👍

Testing was done using S2 and S3 tyres for comparison and I would reccomend again to drive these if you have the time :)

cheers everyone and good luck with your week 9 times 👍

Dave

Firstly read the post fully, Onlyme did the choosing this week! Hes the one to blame for your indecision :sly(I fully endorse his choices though) :)

The GT1 is a supercar for this weeks choices based on its power output and ability to "Cut it" with the big guns.....

The Zonda is an interesting point, all I can say is yes it is "Totally" a supercar but the fact it isnt here should tell you something about what happened in testing when Bart was choosing and also when i tried them out too......needless to say it didnt score as highly, and after all, the cars presented to you are there down to one thing, how good they drive....!

I believe this 2 week period almost perfectly falls within my vacation to England, so I'll not be able to race in it and will therefore not vote.

Wont be the same without you Nat :( Enjoy your trip back here though!

Bart (OnlyMe),
Thanks for helping Dave with the series. You deserve the honor of selecting the candidates for an event. How is it that every week at least one of my favorite cars is on the list? I must have too many favorites. Which, I guess, means that the term "favorites" loses it's meaning. I guess I just like cars...although the slowpokes don't really get the adreline flowing.

Voted 👍

Tried them all, that only made it harder to choose :sly:

@Onlyme, thanks for the this weeks picks, all good in my book, and cheers for
giving the Ring Leader a hand 👍

To everyone here, all have a great and safe Christmas and New Year, and if Santa is
part of your gig I hope youve been good boys and girls, and he brings you some
replacement pedals for your DFP 👍:sly: .

Hi everyone, welcome to your voting results for Week 10 of the NRS!
Another close week, Barts choices were spot on in my opinion but hard to choose my top 3.....

In 3rd place with 13 points - The Ford GT

In 2nd place with 20 points - The Tommykaira ZZII

In 1st place with 21 points - The Amuse S2000 GT1

Wow, what a winner to spend the Christmas two weeks with......

Quite possibly the best engine note in GT4 in my opinion coupled to sensational speed and handling, this should be great :)

Specific tuning parts for the GT1

Oil change

Full Race suspension system

S3 tyres

Brake Balance controller

rigidity increase optional

Power = 535HP

Weight = 1180KGS

Giving us a power to weight ratio of 453HP per ton 👍
Right, as you will notice there is not much tuning this week power wise, partly as the GT1 comes with virtually everything and the turbo upgrade is not required as the standard fit stage 2 does the job just fine, an oil change releases a few more HP and thats it. What is important is that i feel this is the perfect car to start our journey with Race suspension. We all seem to have a the grasp of how to tune out understeer/oversteer using ride height, spring and damper settings and we also know that the semi race system seemed to have stiffer settings by default than the sports system.

The Race suspension has settings for damper bound and rebound, toe, stabilisers etc to add into the equation so we need to spend the next two weeks getting to grips with these additional settings and see how they influence the lap times.

This falls perfectly following the release of Scaff's excellent "GT4 Suspension and Brake tuning guide" which i strongly recommend you read as it really is a fantastic guide with information for all the various settings we will be changing and im sure it WILL help us all for the next two weeks!! Well done and thanks to Scaff again 👍

So start those screaming Turbo Vtecs and get racing! Deadline again is 03/01/2006 which is a TUESDAY.

Rules are as always the standard OLR two wheels on track and no cheating, rumbles and kerbs/concrete are all track etc...

Please only discuss T times and not final lap times, again the use of T2,T4, T7 and T10 is encouraged!

cheers all

Dave

Haha, reverse order!

My votes:

1. Ford GT 05
2. TommyKaira ZZII
3. Amuse S2000 GT1

I really wanted to drive the GT, though.

This is an absolutely awesome car. My first lap was clean 👍 and way below my SL55 time :) . Then with just a little more work I trimmed another 4 seconds off :D. I think I have a new favorite car. Seemed very "forgiving" but lacked a little top speed compared to the SL55.

Default settings, MT, 1-handed. 174.8 total miles (but started with a used car, 110.6 miles) so 64.2 miles on the Nurb. Felt maybe just a bit too "stiff" between Kallenhard and Wehrseifen. So maybe just soften it a tiny little bit. This is the most relaxed and comfortable I've felt in any of the cars we've driver so far in the series. This thing felt so good I had to double check and make sure I didn't have racing gumball installed.

T10: 6'10.626

This car can do no wrong. First clean lap after 70km is T10 of 6'12.xxx. I have hit T1 1.1xx faster and T2 at 2.1xx faster. I think there will be some incredibly fast times this week.

I hope that isnt a full lap time youve semi-quoted there speedy!

T's only!

Im looking forward to this, im just wondering where ill get on the net over the holiday period to log in and keep up!

Still..... i am immensely pleased with the result.... thank somebody important we didnt get the GT (i was going to blaspheme, but goixoye's around) cos i dont like that car at all..... im aware that this thing can drive, so its going to be nail biting stuff till the new year.

Yayy for Dave!!!!

Thanx for this.... Christmas day will be much better for it.

Good luck everyone!
:irked:👍

Dave thanks for putting in the link to the guide, I hope that it will be of use to everyone.

If no one mind I will also have a play around with the car and settings, I just find it interesting how different people set the same car up to match individual driving styles.

Regards

Scaff

BTW Dave, how are you going with that 350Z GT4 Edition?

Hi Scaff, would be more than happy if you had a play around with the settings for this one, im sure your guide will be of use, certainly will for me! Couldnt have timed it better for our transition to full racing suspension 👍

On the subject of the 350Z its slow progress mainly due to other committments will Pm you with the details :)

cheers

Have to agree, this is an very nice motor 👍 , the car feels great, its hard to think
how I can make it handle any better than the default settings feel right now, well there
is plenty of time for a fiddle  so we will see.

Had a quickish session to give the car a try, did 3 laps ( 2 clean )
T10 - 6'10.908
This car makes me feel like I know what I'm doing
👍 All

Steve

hmm i just realized i don't have this car... gonna have to buy it... i think Bob's gonna make a few laps 'round the track ;)

Great time there, Mastasidaz 👍 Pokkesnel, joh!!!

I would advise you though, to remove the picture, or at least edit it. In the upper right corner it states a fastest lap time, and complete lap time discussions are not allowed in this series. Maybe you can blur that corner of the picture...

I made my first run today, and boy oh boy, I love this car more and more with every second I drive it!! And to know I never did drive it before testing the cars for this week!!! Thanx again for making mee see it, Dave!

First splits:
T1: 0'43.617
T2: 1'16.583

T3: 1'44.188
T4: 2'33.837
T5: 3'10.658
T6: 3'36.035
T7: 4'24.166
T8: 5'05.192
T9: 5'25.880
T10: 6'06.553

Mastasidaz
T10: 5.55.995 after a few laps. I did not changed the setup yet.

Nice time there Mastasidas 👍, thanks for the reality check :ouch: .

Back to the DFP mumble mumble mumble ............................

Steve

Looks like you guys are going to force me to use both hands again this week to be competitive. I liked the way the AT worked to (with to SL55)...not sure how much time I'm sacrificing due to using AT. Overall (2-hands, AT) my times are better but I haven't done too much with 2-hands, MT. This car I noted a few mis-shifts with the MT...maybe because of using AT so much last week?

I've been going through Scaff's guide. Great info. Haven't gotten completely through it yet. It's well written and I'm sure will prove to be a great help. Thanks Scaff.

Although this car seems so great with defaults I'm almost afraid to touch it. I've got 2 weeks to spend with this sweet sweet ride.

T10: 5.55.995 after a few laps. I did not changed the setup yet.

if you're going to do that you might want to use photoshop to fuzz out the "best lap" time in the corner... else you're violating the rules by giving out final times.

Hi Mastasidaz welcome to the NRS 👍

As has already been pointed out discussion of final lap times is not allowed, please edit your picture to accomodate this, this is quite a standard OLR rule.

regards

Dave

*EDIT* Thanks for replacing the picture 👍

Im just curious, and i may be stating something really stupid here, but what is that blue dot representing another car on track behind mastasidaz on the straight?

Is it his ghost?

he is 2 seconds ahead.

anyway, that is a fantastic time, and well over 4 seconds ahead of my first run round the entire track yesterday (i fell off twice first) which yielded a T10 of: 5'59.679

I thought that the car could use a bit more pivot, as it tends to understeer a fair amount when off the throttle and gas, and overall it was slightly stiff, though this helped keep it quick through corners.

The most obvious thing was that it was amazingly fun and had a terrific sound, as Dave mentioned.

I shall enjoy driving it for 2 weex, and i shall enjoy tinkering with it to get the best setup i can.

I would like to formally request a T10 from VT, so i have a benchmark to try and get 2 seconds in front of, please 👍

Good luck with the car everyone, and have a good festive break.

Can someone PM Koly with the link to this race and beg her to play however she can, she's missing a very good combo.

Hats off Davey boy!

VEXD out.
