Nurburgring Race Series - Week 10 - Amuse S2000 GT1 (W/Results)

About 155 miles this combo. So about 90 more this session. Including a trip to Grand Valley to tweak the car using Scaff's guide. Scaff's guide was a tremendous help 👍 . A definite must read unless you already know EVERYTHING there is to know about tuning. I'm very really pleased with my Grand Valley tune at the Nurb...altough while tuning there to kinda follow Scaff's example I did keep in mind that the set-up was really for the Nurb (what I'm tryin' to say is that if I tuned specifically for GV it *MIGHT* be a little different).

Softeninig things up had the desired effect.

T10: 6'06.846 (-3.780)....-4.186 at the line.

Still driving 1-handed, MT. Topping out at 181mph. I'm amazed how hard this car can be pushed. There are still a couple of places that I believe I can push harder. With the additional time this event I can see if I can find the limits. I am using a car I've had in my garage and noticed while tuning that I had previously bought the "stiffness" (same as "rigidity" I think?). I'm tempted to buy another car to see how much of a difference there is.

Nice wing on the car...too bad downforce can't be tweaked :irked:. Wy does PD do that to us? The Motorsport Elise wing couldn't be adjusted and neither can this one. WHY?

I think I'm going to have to do this one :) hope I've got all the rules right!

I'll let you know how my first session goes :)

Hmmmmm, two of you from Leicestershire, england....

its a conspiracy!

I too live about 45 mins away, we should meet up and have a blast sometime, get Dave round.... we could invite Timbrad too, he's in ashby i think...

Right, im off.

:irked:👍

Yeah, that's actually the reason this series came to my attention... Dave sent me a PM when he saw we were from the same county!

I'm only ten minutes from Ashby myself.

Hi Mastasidaz welcome to the NRS 👍

As has already been pointed out discussion of final lap times is not allowed, please edit your picture to accomodate this, this is quite a standard OLR rule.

Dave

Dave,

Can you please edit your post, and put the link of the right image in it. In the orginal post theire is a new picture without the laptime on it.

Thnx m8.

I think my time can be faster, i was a little off track and i dont know the car very good yet. If some people dont believe my time please say it then i can capture it to prove that its legal.

Maybey some people know me, my name on xlink is steffan and I am leader of the clan TFS we were first on the ranking on the old weplayhere.net. I have also driven the KNT league this year and won it. I wonder if theire are more KNT competitors racing here. That would be cool.

You can also vist the weblog in my signature if you want to know more about me.

We dont need to see a capture of it mastasidaz, we work on honour here, if you are running according to the rules, then you are a quick driver, not a cheater, that is all....

If however, you are jumping grass corners, taking shortcuts and popping through gates and fields to achieve a time that VT will manage in about 15 mins of driving, then be off with you!!

hehe:tup:

Good luck all of you.

:irked:👍
Im off to try and beat masta's time.

Man this thing goes!!! I only did 4 laps of the Ring to get familliar with the thing, and it almost fly... Wow... there's always power when you need it, powerband is large and easy to stay within... man. And for some reason, this car has grip! even with Street tires! WOOHOO.

I got a slow first clean lap and had some fun afterwards.

T:6'16.325 but its way slow right now.

This should be fun...

Hi

Nobody is questioning your honesty Mastasidaz, the problem was with the full lap time thats all. 👍

However, depending on how the two weeks pan out if your still challenging Vtracing, VEXD and Dr Watson I might expect some kind of replay perhaps, lets see how things go :)

@DarkElite welcome and great to see you here mate!

@VEXD, getting together sounds great, Myself Timbrad and Darkelite all live within a couple of miles of each other if my memory serves me correctly!!

To everyone, glad the GT1 seems to be proving such a big hit, I myself havent even had a lap yet with this one. Well done again to Onlyme for putting it forward as a contender 👍

Cheers! That sounds about right about our locations :)

As for my first practice session, with the car 100% standard (all I did was turn the aids off), I managed a T10 time of 6'15.xxx. The car itself if fantastic to drive here, it's really predictable even at the Flugplatz and the straight following. Brilliant fun to take it round a corner at low revs in second and let her slide you round, too :)

We'll have to see how I can do with the racing suspension, I can feel a lot of adjustments coming up ;)

Good improvement there, goixoye 👍 Looks like we're side by side, scraping the paint as usual :P

Didn't have a chance to race today, though. I was busy trying songs for me new band :P

Updated the board! Great to see some new names on there 👍

I would like to formally request a T10 from VT, so i have a benchmark to try and get 2 seconds in front of, please 👍

VEXD out.
:irked:👍

Sorry mate, I haven't run this one yet. I'll see what I can do.

That's a nice time there Mastasidaz. 👍

Wow... what a great piece of machinery. Eventhough I am feeling a little rusty, I managed a few clean laps, with the best being as follows:

T1: 0'42.374
T2: 1'14.945
T4: 2'30.523
T7: 4'19.865
T10: 6'01.943

I would'nt mind driving one of these things in r/l, but alas, not enough cash! :yuck:

Have a good one! 👍

Nice combo 👍
I love the car, I did plenty of laps with stock settings (minus all the driving aids) and the car handles really well.

I am going to put a fair amount of time into this race, it is going to be a lot of fun.

I don't have a clean time, yet. I will post splits when I do.

The Wizard.

Wow all the pro's are here!!!

Yay!

There goes my top 5 finish.
:grumpy:

VT, not to worry mate, ive had a tinker with some of the settings, and managed to fumble my way round the track and get a T10: 5'57.something
so i know that although fast, Mastasidaz's time is not unbeatable by a long stretch.
Thats a good time masta!👍

The fun thing is, im starting to tune with much greater insight, due to reading scaff's guide yesterday, great lunchtime reading, thanx scaff 👍 (go read it if you havent, just for the pix if nothing else)
One thing at a time, and i have enough time to try and learn this christmas period, so im excited about what i may be able to achieve.
Good luck to me!

Its nice to see such a turnout, and im looking forward to the finish of this one.

Dave has surpassed himself with onlyme's combo, my hat is taken off to the both of you, without who's work none of us would be having so much fun in christmas 2005.
:cheers::cheers:
Good luck to everyone, especially me.

Any settings will be helpful, so if someone wants to post something....

The only thing im going to say is this:

I adjusted the toe to -1 front, and 1 rear and got more pivot instantly.
I had problems with mid corner understeer, so added 9 rebound on front and rear, and dropped the bound to 7. Sorted that.
Then i removed some front camber, and added some rear, to balance it, and got a much more usable car. It isnt finished, but it worx better IMO.
Camber: 1.8 front, 2.3 rear.

No aids, and still 5 on both stabilizers, or 4, i cant decide.

Im gonna hit T2's of 1'13 easily.

Off i go!
:irked:👍

I'll see if I can use that information to my advantage, Vexd!

I've got Scaff's guide on my hard drive halfway through being read, and I can say that so far it's superb, a fantastic job!

My second session, parts fitted but settings stock, resulted in a T10 time of 6'10.285, after a few messed-up laps - A long way to go, but it's a start :)

Update - A little bit of suspension tinkering led to a T10 of 6'06.xxx, but that wasn't clean :ouch: some more fiddling might lead to a sub-6', I can feel there's more there :)

This is 2 weeks race so i will for sure post my time (althought my #1 was ZZII...). First splits on sunday. I plan to -> drive about 5~10 laps on basic setup (ride high on max low possition, drive ads off) than note for example "this car braks to slow, turns little bit too much" read Scaffs guide and make some changes...

Ok, first splits with stock setup:

T1: 0'42.385
T2: 1'15.190
T3: 1'42.206
T4: 2'29.991
T5: 3'06.081
T6: 3'31.057
T7: 4'18.307
T8: 4'57.829
T9: 5'17.936
T10: 5'57.613

I made small mistakes at Flugplatz and Hohe Acht and was generally conservative for the rest of the lap. But it's not a bad start.

It's funny VEXD, the first thing I want to do with the setup is reduce the rear camber...

Driving 2-handed now w/ AT. 483.9 total miles (220 this session).
T10: 6'06.637 (-0.209)
Final: (-0.264)
Not much improvement BUT...the garage showed 510HP. So next session a fresh oil change and I should be able to trim a little more. I feel like I'm close to my limit so the goal is to be under 6'06 at T10.

I finally managed a half-way decent time.

T10: 6'06.136

My goal is to cut another 3-4 seconds from that...

The Wizard.

Hi all,

Finally got round to some proper laps in the S Two thou...

Have to say this is just a great car, I dont think i would ever get fed up of that engine note, handling wise i found it very good but set about my tuning with the intent of making it ride the kerbs better and to reduce the understeer I was suffering with, my settings so far are as follows :

Brake Balance 5/2

Springs 7.9/8
Ride Height 80/85
Damper Bound 3/3
Damper Rebound 6/6
Camber 2.8/1.5
Toe +1/0
Stabilisers 4/4

Car seems to be good to drive but there is some way to go im sure and i seem to be suffering thought the Wipperman section with direction changes etc so more work there, any suggestions?

My First good clean lap worth mentioning is:

T1 42.751
T2 1'15.684
T3 1'43.141
T4 2'31.767
T5 3'08.201
T6 3'33.247
T7 4'20.713
T8 5'00.972
T9 5'21.317
T10 6'01.634

Glad im sort of on the pace after missing the first few days, will be interesting to see how much more time is out there for me!

cheers all

Dave

Yo guys,

Today i drived again and dont betterd my time:(

At one lap i was 2 secs in front of my ghost, but i failed to finish the lap.
I am still driving with standard setup, dont know how to setup one wich is good. I think im gonna read scaff's guide. 👍

I want to ask if my nickname in the rankings could be changed from Mastasidaz in [TFS]Steffan because that is my racing name:)

Im gonna sleep now, good night everyone.👍

547.3 miles, 63.4 since last time. Having the full compliment of HP sure makes a difference. I think what was happening was I would finish a session, change the oil and exit out of the game. I don't think the red autosave indicator displays after just an oil change? So my next session I thought I had fresh oil but the last autosave was after leaving the Nurb before going to the shop. Has anybody else noticed this?

Anyway...nice progress since last time.

T10: 6'05.246 (-1.391)
Final: (-2.184) nailed the final sector, maybe for the first time during the series

There's room for improvment but it would take an absolutely perfect lap.

BUT....there were at least 3 times that all 4 wheels were off the track. So I guess this lap is disqualified? The first two pictures are the same occurrence.

After looking at the pictures I checked my tires AGAIN. The pictures look like they have "spots" like the icons for the racing tires in the tune shop (instead of "treads"). But the garage shows S3's and the replay shows SS's so everything's legal.

@Dave. Quick rules question. Somewhere I got the sense that the hard surface areas beyond the curbs, rumble strips & white lines are part of the track and therefore "legal" territory. Is that true?

A specific place I'm thinking about is Brunnchen. Hard right...short straight...hard right (with a sand pit to the left). On the short straight sometimes I've gotten a little wide and I'm beyond the white line (all 4 tires) but 2 tires are still on hard surface while the other 2 are in the grass.

Yes thats right Ronny, the concrete, brickwork and rumbles are all considered part of the track, so for example at Brunnchen you could have two wheels on the grass and the other two on the concrete section behind the white line and it would be legal (imagine your photo with the car moved over to the left a bit...) 👍

Sent you a pm about this one ;)

@Dave. Your initial "Interest Check" noted a 10 to 12 week series. I'm almost certain I read that the series will now go 16 weeks (and maybe an extra week if we drive the RUF Yellowbird for a finale?). Can you confirm the length and indicate what date the series will finish up?

I'm looking toward the next series I will participate in and if at all possible need to limit myself to one competition at a time. This series proves that is all I'm really able to handle. You can probably tell without too much difficulty when this became the only series I'm participating in. And I feel that I've benefited tremendously from sticking to the "one-at-a-time" thing. I'm actually feeling like I'm beginning to understand a little bit about tuning.

Ah, if a four-wheel jump disqualifies the lap I'm gonna have to drive a little slower  I can get a 6'03 T10 with my current setup, but it'll take some tweaking to do more. Back I go :)
