Gimp Tutorial 3: Adding headlight effect:
In this tutorial, we'll learn how to create an effect on the car to look as if it's has it's headlights on. THis is the image we'll be working on:

Step 1:
Open up the image in Gimp.

Step 2:
Go to Filters->Lighteffects->Supernova

Step 3:
A new window should appear were all the options are located for the supernova.

Step 4:
Largen the window by dragging out the right-lower corner of the window. Now choose the desired color of the light. Then choose the size of the nova with the option "Radius", for this image, I've chosen size 30 which seemed perfect. Also lower the sparks to not exagorate in the supernova, I've used 25.

Step 5:
When you think it's looks perfect to your likings, hit OK and the effect should be added to the image.

Step 6:
After adding the effect, set the contrast of the image higher to avoid too much brightness by the light.

Tada! Now you've got yourself a nice headlight added to your image 👍

ooh nice tutorial...it looks cool i dont know what the equivalent to that in PS is but it still looks really cool afterwards...good job! If you havent seen yet, i blurred that storm ranger image of yours...its in my gallery..go check it out!

Good work on the tutorial. 👍

Anyway, that last Range Stormer shot. I really like the angle of the picture, and the reflections are quite nice, but as some people have already said, it really could have benifitted from a bit of a clean up, and the tyre is cutting through the wheel arch. That said, I like the concept of it.

Keep up the good work.

Here's another try at motion blurring:

Still looks quite weird but it looks better then my previous tries so I'm pretty happy 👍

yea nic is right, you should have waited, also, cut that car out better! zoom in and take your time and do it as accurately as possible, you see towards the back of the car, you slacked a little bit...but also, it takes practice...but keep trying!

Oh and btw, why do you like my first comp entry better? i mean ill admit that it is cleaner, but i thought that muscle cars would represent america better, not a company owned by nissan...

ha im not trying to knock you or anything, but with enough practice, that blurred one could have been done in about 20 minutes...and the wheels could be better... BUT thats not to say that this update isnt one of your best because it is...the first two are amazing...and if GIMP would allow you to do radial blurs, those wheels would be perfect...nice update especially the first one...i like that one the best....AND the wheels really dont look bad....Good job!!

👍 Nice pics man, The first two are my faves, though the blur is well done too. Keep 'em coming! :dopey:

great work man, the amount of time and effort u put into those shots really shows. the blur shot is fantastic! the backdrop on the first shot is amazing! keep em commin man :D

Thanks for all the comments,

As for the wheel blur, that's the best
Gimp can do, I did find the exact center but the blurring option in Gimp just suck. As well as the layers option, in PS you can drag-drop images into another layer, right? I nGimp, when I try to cut out something, it justs delete the previous layer!

Well, that kind of blurring isn't much, but wheel blurring, angled wheel blurring, and having a blur in an image were you have to find out the blurring point like your Lotus image. That's hard!
