Oh, you need to use either a router or a special cable to connect the two PS2s. Coaxial? or something.

naw i figured it out:) i have always thought i could play inline! but its just LAN:( i wanted to play with my brother half around the globe:(

I did played GT4 online by the x-link.

http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/?go=quickstart

Some while ago I wrote a small desription how to start.

You will need:
-1 ethernet cable
-PS2slim or the old one but then you will need an adapter which can placed in the back of the PS2.
-Router
-Also make sure the fire wall will regornise the x-link or else just shut it down.

First register at the X-link and download the x-link kai evolution 7

:Go to all programs on your pc.
-klik on xlink kai evolution 7

you'll see
-start kai
-start kai configuration tool

klik on start kai conf. tool

Go to

-UI------->default
-networkadapter------------>auto detect and lock
-default xtag------------>your username
-default password------------->your pass
- V for auto connection
-chose engine after----------->loss of UI
-accept UI connections from------------->any IP address

This is done.

Now the PS2

-Go to options

-go to Lan connection
put autoconnection on NO

-go to lan play

Machine name:Take your name(when you race your name will appear to other racers)
Host-No
style-play
no. of players-(your no host so doesn't matter)
replay target-(mine says player 1,I think not important)
No. of monitors-0
monitor position-centre
monitor type-normal
network traffic-light

SAVE

Go to multilan race

If yo press "create new network configuration"you'll see-->
-hardware sce\ethernet
-operation mode--->autodetect

(Perhaps the machine will ask if you want to make a new newwork,press OK)

Press OK

name-what ever,it is just important you fill something in.
authentication-NO
user ID-nothing
password-nothing
use DHCP-yes
ip address-all 0
netmask-all 0
default router-all 0
use auto DNS-yes
primary DNS-all 0
secondary DNS-all 0

press Ok---->auto saving

Set up the hardware;
Connect your router with the ethernetcable to the PS2.

-Go to programs on your pc and press x-link kai evo 7,select start Kai.

-You will see a half image,look at the right in the midle and select the little arrow.The image will full screen now.

-Then select the small globe pic on top of the page.

-select Playstation 2

-select GT4

-select the "Glass that makes large"

-Go to your playstation>multilanrace>connect

If all went well a line will show with "your playstation has been succesfully configured" on your pc screen.

Now it is possible to race others in your region.
(NTSC USA,Europe Pal,Aus Pal)

Distance between racers will influence the "ping",the lower the better.

Advice :take the time to find things out.:)

Also this link can help https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=65171 but can make things very confused.

"You Must Spread some Rep..."

Problem is... I get stuck on the Multi-LAN race Loading Screen. It's not a DRE (Red Disk Syndrome), but simply a never-ending White-Spinning disk. It's been spinning for the last 3 minutes...

hmm! ye had that prob at first to! and thats simply because u are trying toconnect to a game that doesent xist, Try to configure that u are a host! then it will atleas connect! but i will try xlink so i can drive with mt brother orother ppl! its possible right?

Nice one Sjaak...Had that one on my i-pod for a while now. Still, thanks for the excuse to play it again though...LOUD! :D

I'm planning on getting a Mini pick-up in the new year...I wonder if there's enough room to set my drum kit up in the back? 💡

Darren.

Hey guys, havn't been on for ages... :(

Damn life gets in the way of GT4!

Don't know if anyone remembers me, I only won a few div. 3 races... :D

So... After two busy and troublesome days (the whole week wasn't that easy, either), i finally found some time to post that mysterious picture of mine that was found on my PC.

Also on the same day:

Mr. Fat himself, the one who gave me this annoying GTP-Nick, "Gingi" - 7.5KG (When last checked) of pure cat.

Damn Metar...You've either got a really long neck or low shoulders? :eek:

:P

Darren.

I was trying hard to make the box fit me, because I did the holes a bit too high... It is hard cooking with this thing (Noodles with extra-chilli, if you're interested. So spicy I could've blow fire out of my throat) - visibility is insufficient.

I feel generous today,must be the comming up holiday.

A gift.:cheers:

Spiderbait - Black Betty

Don't they have a song of this band in GT4? Now that's a nice song. And funny :P

What's that car, though? Delahaye?

Darren.

Any idea what you'll call her? SuperMini?

(That'll be Mini No. 3, right? I lost count)

If you mean the hot rod in the video I think it's a '34 Ford.

I first heard Ram Jam's version; in the seventies I think - (here they are: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMLnDuzgkjo) and I always liked it. This version is pretty excellent too.

And as I was trying to find Ram Jam's version I ran across info that this song was written in the thirties by Leadbelly - who'd have thought.

So it's one of those new-engine supercharged hotrods? Less cool than a Delahaye, but still cool 👍

Most of you know me, but since there are some new racers, I'll first tell them that I'm the former steward of the Weekly Race Series, of which I took care from November 1st, 2005 through October 31st, 2006.

When I stopped and handed the WRS over to Colby (MisterWeary), I had had enough GT for a while, and wanted to play other games.
I spent november playing Metal Gear Solid 3 and december playing Guitar Hero 2, thinking I would find dedicated forums similar to what exists for Gran Turismo.
I registered on several forums dealing with MGS or GH, but never found again the atmosphere that exists on GT forums.
I think this is due to two main causes.

First of all, the game.
With 50 tracks and roughly 730 cars, which makes 36,500 different combos, the game possibilities are effectively infinite, which accounts for the fact that many people are still enthusiastic about it almost 2 years after its release.
In comparison, GH2 features 64 songs and 4 levels, which makes 256 distinct items only ; while MGS3 has enough parallel quests (Kerotans hunt, animal capture...) to make it last longer, but in a very repetitive way.

Secondly, well... me.
I guess I'm much more addicted to GT and to the GT community than to any other game or community. When I booted the GT4 disc again to prepare week 88, I was surprised to see that I was again really enjoying racing while it had become a chore a couple of months ago. Weeks 89 and 90 are ready, and I'm now thinking at starting a new GT4 game. Just for fun.

Well, I wanted to share my conclusions with you, and also tell you that while I'll be busy on a zillion other things (I'm currently translating PSPad editor in esperanto for instance, or reading the whole Forgotten Realms stories), I'll try and keep some time for GT and racing here with you.
I know that my craptastic skills won't be a threat to any of you.

Cheers mates. :cheers:

Great post Cyril and a great expression of how addictive the OLR community can be 👍 I've been crawling around various GT forums myself for nearly 6 years now, and with occasional breaks from racing inbetween it never stopped me coming back to the forums :)
It seems I may be addicted to the scene also! .. DS2 in hand or not ;)

:cheers:

Great to see Gran Turismo's still in your blood. That brilliant combo proved it :cheers:

And on another note: I just came back from the MatLab course, and I'm very proud of my result for today's work - a fully-functional Speck-organism, where two organism live in a B&W picture, never walking over black spots, eating grey, and living normally on white. Also, they mate when the distance between then is below a minimum (and there's a limit to how many times they can do this in a row - there has to be a pause between), and they die of old age and over-eating. :D My very own world. I can post the script as an attachment...
Here's a video of a pretty good run - mating, one dies of over-eating, and then, when they're almost dead (starved, this time), a baby-boom starts.

(Sorry if it doesn't work at first, it was just uploaded)

I don't know for your organisms, but your video has an incredibly short lifespan : 43 minutes after posting it says : This video is no longer available.
Or else the upload and activation time is freaking long :)

maybe he accidentaly listed it as multiple orgasms and not multiple organism's :sly:

:P

Yes... The main-page still tells me the status is "Uploaded (processing, please wait)", so I guess I'll have to wait. Wish I had MatLab at home, but it's a freaking 1000$ (Without extra programming-languages [which I need] and extras) for private users...

And no Orgasms :P

Good to hear it Cyril! 👍

And Happy New Years everyone! Have fun tonight if you haven't already! :)

Man. Once again. Thanks for posting this. I seriously love this song!!! I can't get it out of my head ever since you posted it. Pretty much. And the video's awesome!
