Question about the Full game.

Does anybody know if there will be Qualifying feature in either Offline Single player or Multiplayer mode? Instead of The host choosing or the simulated qualifying grid position, will there be a manual time trial sort of a thing? (ofcourse as an option), just before the race (like in GT4 for egs. atleast for Single player mode there was this option.).

I would be on that not being in the game online but possibly offline. It's just a matter of time, how much time do you have to let a person run qualification laps?
Online you get vary little because no one wants to put their race on hold just for some guy that insist on running as many qualifier laps as possible.
Offline you'd have all the time in the world because the only human racer is content running qualifaction (AI doesn't get bored waiting for you to finish the qual.).

Bottom line: I believe it would add too much time to the online racing process and in turn hurt the total online experience.

I hear ya' bro, but wouldnt having an option (usually switched off), would be kinda nice. Like I and some of my friends, we plan to do 40Lap races (or 2 hour races or whatever) every sunday. And in such events, Grid position is very important as we plan to play with all assists off and full damage on. Now the first corner is the most cruicial one, specially if the worst of the bunch is leading the grid, they can ruin the entire race right on that first turn. If you can set 5 mins or one running lap as a qualifying lap, it would be nice to have that option. You just have one lap to wait for, not much? Is that too much to ask for a 40 lap race? Where grid position and pit strategy is all that matters..?

Actually, I'd argue that grid position doesn't matter in such a long race because consistancy will win. Also, there is more time to make the pass in a long race and so you aren't limited to getting the win out of the first turn.

I understand what you would like about the Qualification but I just don't think the company would go for it (online).
Maybe with one lap limits it would work but even then there is room for problems (as we all know that our first attempt at a hotlap isn't always our best).

In any case, my biggest concern for Forza 2 will be in the way cars handle and the way cars sound. After spending the last few weeks with PGR2 I feel like Forza 1 was far too similar in both handling and sound. :(
Seemed to me like Forza 1 had a bunch of extra stuff but the overall feel of game play seemed very similar to what I would imagine being PGR2 with more realistic braking.

Hopefully we will all get our hands on Forza 2 really soon and get to put our predictions, hopes, and dreams to the test. :mischievous:

One of the pit pass reports strongly hints at qualifying before races online. Most online racing games do timed qualifying sessions, so you could set up a race and set a 20 min qualifying session. Everyones time starts together and you have to get your laps in within that time. Once the 20 mins are up, qualifying ends regardles of if your mid lap or not and the race can begin.

That sounds great, that should help my car club's GT mini racing season. Anyway would any people on GTPlanet sometime be up for some racing seasons or would like to setup some up sometime in the future?

That would be so cool if true, although I remember in a recent pit pass where they were talking about a tournament race that they were put on the grid according to the PI system. Hope it is true though, qualifying should be standard by now....

godzilla, try going here and clicking on the forzacentral link to the Pitpass page.

forzacentral.com linkie

It's what I have to do when forzamotorsport.net won't let me in either. :P

Oh, I just wanted to say that I bought a 360 Elite just to play Forza 2. Thank God the thing works! Almost all the 360 demos on the Live Marketplace are lame though. The demo had better hurry it's tailpipe up! Microsoft ninnies...

OKG OMG OMG!!!!!

read this from the pitpass:

To make my older RX-7 competitive amongst a field of more powerful (but stock) AI cars, I pumped my performance index up to B591. Upgrades include race intake and exhaust, a MAZDASPEED sport port and polish, Spearco race intercooler, and a beefy Apexi sport turbo kit. Oh, and sport tires to boot. The effect these mods had on the car went beyond just putting the car at a healthy 338 hp with 298 lb-ft torque, as you can hear for yourself in the video. The FC sounds like a pissed off little kid!

god i hope we can do a periphial port(sp)

the best vid so far:

shows ALOT of tuning(engine) also has some awsome other vids

as far as how the starting grid is arranged, Im pretty sure I read somewhere that the host of the online lobby can arrange the grid however they want.

No way I could find where I read it though, Ive read pretty much everything thats ever been posted on fm.net's page and all third party articles as well.

i just watched a couple of FORZA 2 Movies and i kinda like it. The graphics look painted tho... Just doesnt look real :S
I'm kinda surprised that there still isnt any cockpit view in that game?!

for me it's the s13 all the way, been waiting for a descent game with kit's to come along with an s13(other then the genki's)

Well, looks like there'll be no car clubs when the game ships.

Hey guys, in regards to car clubs in Forza 2...

It's true that we couldn't get that feature into the game, but some things to keep in mind is that multiplayer games still support team racing so you can still have club battles on Live. I realize what you lose without car club support is the ability to see in any official capacity which are the top clubs running in the game. One of my goals for post-launch FM.net is to implement a feature that allows players to register their car clubs on this website, with the ability to administrate memberships, etc., and then host official car club scoreboards on FM.net based on your club's cumulative rankings.

There's a lot we need to spec out and I'll be working with Turn 10's designers to make this happen. I'm not going to promise when we can roll this feature out but consider implementing car clubs FM.net's first DLC priority. Also, after I discuss with the webdevs the feasibility of car clubs on FM.net, I'll create an official thread to gather ideas you guys may have about how to make it useful as well.

Thanks, and sorry if this tidbit of news has disappointed anyone.

I smell shenanigans. You could patch it in or make it a free download, but after all these delays it's really disappointing.

Hmmm.... If I was to start in Europe, I would either take the VW Corrado or the Saab 9-3 Aero.

Japan, It would have to be Honda Civic 1.5, The Honda CRX SiR, or the Hyundai Tuscani.

NA the Cobalt Supercharged, or the Eagle Talon, or the Pontiac Solstice.

wow thanks drift god I am definetly making to accounts and getting a supra in one and mt main/progress acount will be the savanna(after that new pitpass, gonna port it till there aint nothing left to port:D)

no topsecret sticker:(

I'm thinking P-P-Pontiac P-P-Power with the Solstice to start (hooray for later V8 engine installation/swap!), or maybe the VW GTI MK2. I like lightweight, middle-power cars for the most part in the game, and the two should fit the bill rather easily.

My current internal debate is whether I want to start in North America or Europe, as they are both near and dear to my heart. North America makes my Camaro and Mustang fetish easy to deal with, but at the same time, I'm still a die-hard VW fan, and I don't want to pay extra for those cars or those parts...

...Chances are that I'll just start in North America and go with the Solstice. I'm still a crazy GM guy, and the thought of the Kappa car with a LS2 or LS7 under the hood later in the game is certainly a pants-tightening one...

why don't you start in asia, means you don't have to make that decision and worry about paying more for one region lol:D

I still want to see what the Ion Redline looks like in the game, anyone have a picture of that?
