I was wondering, people who have played GT4 (unlike me)...if someone gives a scenario for a GT2, give them an estimate of A-spec points they would've gotten. If that makes any sense.

Example...I ran a 467 hp Lancer Evo 6 Rally Car on Super Soft tires at the Rome 2 Hour endurance race against two (?) Lister Storms, a STP Viper, a Toyota GT-One race Car ('99, I think) and a Ford GT40 Race Car (the light blue one, for clarification). Anybody know how many A-spec points this would net me?

(P.S. Parnelli Bone, if you ever read this, this is well within your guidelines on your Fair Play Page. It's at http://community-2.webtv.net/thebeast66/ParnelliBonesGT2/, if anyone wants to check it out.

Here were the results of said race:

1. Lancer Evo. VI Rally Car '99 2:00:34.8
2. Toyota GT-ONE '99 Lead Lap
3. Ford GT40 Race Car -1 Lap
4. STP Taisan Viper GT -2 laps
5-6. Lister Storm V12's, both -6 laps

Unfortunately, I rarely pay much attention to the A-spec point system; I think it's kinda bogus. I've done some tough races which only rated a few points in GT4. On the other hand, I did some racing in a Dodge Ram that wound up being 200 points apiece. Those turned out to be moderate...they weren't super-tough is what I mean to say like you'd think they would be! :)

That's pretty cool that you won Rome 2-hours in a 467 hp Evo, though. 👍

Thanks...the race really wasn't all that hard. The only time I was passed was in the pits after a 30-lap stint tirewise...resolved to never do that again. :)

I completed 89 laps, but I might've done more if I hadn't run those 30 laps on one set of tires.

I'm a reasonably mediocre player.

My records indicate I once lost with a TommyKaira [R] ZZII, but retuned it and came back and won, completing more laps. (86 laps the first time, 87 the second)

I also won with the infamous Opel Tigra Ice Racer car (88 laps). Not sure how it compares to that particular Lancer Rally Car.

The AI do actually wait for you to some degree. (Well, go faster and complete more laps if you do).

I think the Tigra is a better car than the Evo (I've personally beat the Cultus on the Pikes Peak Rally with it), but I picked the Evo because I kinda wanted a challenge. I'll probably be able to complete more laps...

Wait, here's a challenge-complete all 99 laps in the Evo. It is possible to do that, but it would be really pushing it in this car. Now THERE'S a 200-point race.

I've done Rome 2-hours several times in GT2...can't recall any of the ones I won. But I do remeber losing Rome. I was driving an RUF Yellowbird, tho...and you can't race-mod it so I was sliding around and stuff, and therefore my car was eating its rear tires something fierce.

Still, I thought (at the time) that I might win for some reason. But towards the end I had one of those crucial decisions to make: I knew I was gonna lose to whoever was behind me...and my tires were heating up to orange. Do I pit (since was losing anyways) or do I keep going. I remember pitting and saying goodbye to my lead! :grumpy:

Ouch! :ouch: I would've stayed out-depending on how close I was...from the way it sounds, it wasn't too far. But still...

At least for me, my front tires went a little quicker than my rears, but I could've put a soft tire on the rear to even it out. Still have to retry it though, might put harder tires on now. Though if I remember right, tire compound doesn't have much of an effect on wear...

Right. Tire compounds in GT2 don't work properly. It's as if someone seriously goofed when they were programming it. :dunce:

Can we call it another glitch/screw-up/whatever-you want-to-call-it for the books?

And when I run it again, I'll post a race report for the readers out there in this thread-my first ever.

OK, here we go on my first ever race report:the 2 Hours of Rome.

My car: a 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 6 Rally Car, packing 467 horsepower and tipping the scales at ____ pounds. [img=http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/9075/lancerevokj8.jpg] (sorry but you have to copt and paste it into your browser...)

My setup:
Spring rate: 20.0/20.0
Ride height: 95/95
Dampers: 7/7 for both
Camber: 2.0/1.0
Toe: 0.00/0.00
Stabilizer: 4/4

Auto gear setup at 12 with final gear at 2.500

Downforce: 0.47/0.67

Yaw control: 60

Tires: hard front/medium rear

My Competition:
5th starting spot: Venturi Atlantique 600 LM
4th starting spot: Ford GT40 Race Car
3rd starting spot: STP Taisan Viper GT
2nd starting spot: Nissan R390 GT1 LM '97
1st starting spot: Ford GT40 Race Car

Lap 1: The entire field outdrags me off the starting line, but I pass the Venturi and Viper in Turn 1 with no hassle. Catch up to the R390 and pass it in Turn 2. Pass one of the GT40's into Turn 12, and end the lap with it right on my tail, 1.391 seconds behind the other GT40.

Lap 4: Finally pass the lead GT40 after a few unsucessful tries in Turn 8, and blocked all the way down the long backstretch (my personal specialty) to finish with a lap time of 1:21.091.

Lap 5: I notice that me and the GT40's are in one pack, while the other 3 are in another pack a few seconds back. Not under any pressure, I feel my lap times improving-this one's a 1:20.489.

Lap 6: I knew my lap times would improve, and this one was the first to crack the 1:20 mark-1:19.160.

The next few laps were pretty uneventful-I padded my lead a bit while the rest of the field spread out.

Lap 16: One of the cars is seen in the pits...turns out it's the R390.

Lap 18: The lead GT40 hits the pits-now I can pit without losing my lead, which I'm planning to do lap after next.

Lap 20: I pull into the pits on orange front and yellow rear tires...come out appoximately 20 seconds ahead of the lead GT40. Same lap, other GT40 pits.

Lap 23: I ALMOST broke the 1:19 mark: 1:19.022!!! This lap, I hit the 1/2 hour mark.

Lap 25: 1:18.875...YES!!!!

Lap 30: I run the worst lap of my race so far, a 1:22.399. And no, I'm not counting outlaps or the starting lap.

Inside little thing: So far, there haven't been any real backmarkers-the whole field's pretty well spread out.

Lap 33: I lap the Viper as it's in the pits.

Lap 35: Another car sees pit road-I'm guessing it's the Venturi, but it turns out to be the R390.

Lap 39: I lap the R390 as the Venturi pits.

Lap 40: I pit on tires of about the same condition as before, and the R390 and Viper unlap themselves.

Lap 42: The R390 pits again. Not sure why, though. I run my fastest lap of the race, at an 1:18.837. Another 1:18 lap!!!

Lap 44: I hit the hour mark about 40 meters before the line. Here are the standings so far:
1. Lancer Evo 6 Rally Car-me
2.-3. Ford GT40's
4. Venturi Atlantique
5. Taisan Viper-almost lapped
6. Nissan R390-lapped

Sorry, but I can't give you times-GT2 doesn't give you that happy power until the end.

Lap 45: I lap the Viper in the exact spot where I passed the GT40 for the lead. Yes, I have to block him down the backstretch.

Lap 49: The R390 pits-AGAIN!! Wonder what's up with its tire situation.

Oh well, I'm not going to find out now..I'm going to bed. I'll be back later today (it's 2:00 a.m. in my time zone), but for now, here you go.

How does that Evo handle with those super-stiff springs and 95 mm ride? When you drive over curbings does it bounce at all?

It bounces a little bit....

The server (in its infinite wisdom) made me refresh the page when I edited, so I lost everything. I'll watch the replay (I saved it, at least) and finish it later. I did win though, completing 88 laps.
