Review of Mazda RX7 Spirit A
Well, I tested this beast of yours out drifting24/7 and there were some plus points and some negatives. After initial testing on the 1/4 mile (as per my norm), I sent it to where our TCv3 monsters are being torn up, Citta Di Aria.
I tested it along the same lines to the T1 marker and seeing you're doing a 'touge' garage it seemed the sensible choice.
Now, the positives:
*Good gear ratio selection. Kept the engine in the powerband the whole time.
*Nice power combination. 348hp was just enough to not overpower the wheels too much, minimal wheelspin in 1st from a 2500rpm launch. Only when I got silly at Citta did it wheelspin in 2nd.
*Decent Spring Rates. Not too hard, not too soft.
And, the negatives:
The car felt VERY tight around most sections. Now, this was due to a combination of things which I'll list next and caused a lot of understeer, uncommon in an RX7. A simple adjustment in a few areas fixed it up and dropped sector times from a 38.0xx to a 36.9xx.
The things were:
*Toe Angle. I hate negative front toe with a passion. Rear, go for it, but not the fronts as it's harder to turn with it.
*LSD. Way too much applied on the car which made it difficult to turn in.
*Camber. Not enough on the front, too much on the rear.
*Ride Height. A bit too high, especially for an RX7. I lowered it around 10mm allround and it helped it a lot.
*Dampers. Softened them a bit.
I'll send you my suspension listings through PM okay drifting??
All up, a good car, just can be made a lot better.
Rating: 82/100.
