Sorry for my connectile disfunction tonight fellas :indiff: I tried getting on a few more times but after getting kicked off each times i felt that I may be interfearing with somebodies racing performance :guilty: So I decided to forgo this race in hopes of better racing in the future :sly: but at least I got pole :D now if only I could get a point for it

here is the starting order :P click on pic to see full size

So so race for me, but decent considering I had to put up with my DFGT wheel. I'll be back next week with the new DFP:).

I noticed a lot of people took T9 (I said T7 before) very wide, lap after lap. I wouldn't have minded, except that one of you ended up spinning out as a result, which put you stationary right in front of me, as I came through, and I ended up T-boning you. I don't think it even helps your lap time. Its just the lazy way of going through there imo. There is a fast line through there, that works better than going 4 cars wide, outside the white line. Buy going way wide there, you are required to jump over the curbing, to re-enter the track. Do it enough, and you end up spinning out, just like what happened this evening.

Oh well, on to Hungary, my other home track! 👍

And here is the finishing order:

And now for a onboard lap of Hungary:

Good race, qualified 2nd, already knowing shaggy was going to be faster.
First lap stck with shaggy and got a good draft down the long straight as I expected got ahead by the hairpin but then cocked up turn 10 though and earnt myself a penalty.
Then just before my 1st stop got a penalty at turn 1 also, which meant kak was a bit closer behind me, but not enough to worry.

Other than that, pace was good, lapping in the low 1.15.xxx's consistently.

Qualifying was dodgy for me, the first 2 laps getting penalties so it was all on my last lap where I managed a good final sector to salvage a 1:14.7xx which was enough for pole.

Yeah great first lap racing there. I nailed turn one pretty well but so did LewyOs and I braked slightly later than normal for turn 2 because I was afraid of getting crashed into from behind, so was out of shape for turn 3 and LewyOs got a good tow through the Parabolika. I gave him plenty of room on the approach and exit from Spitzkehre as I ran wide myself, left tyres even onto the gravel at the run off, drawing eventually back onto the track where we were literally side by side all the way up to turn 5 where I eased off the throttle and let him by as he had the inside line, lest we have a massive shunt. This was a seriously cool bit of racing, akin to Hamilton vs Alonso on the approach to Eau Rouge at Spa in '07, with me playing the role of Hamilton and LewyOs, Alonso, as illustrated here:

Though I should stress that LewyOs did not force me wide as Alonso did in that vid, the racing was fair and we just gave each other a really wide berth. Anyway, the good stuff was then cut short annoyingly when he got a penalty going through turn 7 and I sailed by. I never really found my very best pace during the race but still managed two or three 1:14.4's with my fastest being a 1:13.196 on my second outlap as I spun on my first outlap which was my only serious mistake of the race happily.

Good race anyway, a very enjoyable track but perhaps not enough room in the corners for safe overtaking when you take the lag bubble into account.

Yeah I'm right here, I had Lennon filling in for me.
Ah, thanks. :)

And now folks, here's what a lap of the Hungaroring looks like onboard Michael Schumacher's Ferrari. :D

EDIT: Treed on YouTube vid

I got punted out of the race again! I won't mention names, or point fingers, but from my perspective, It looked deliberate. After that, I never really got back into the race as I was so far behind, and making too many mistakes trying to regain lost ground. I even wrecked the car on the entry to the pit lane on one occasion, and made a few tactical errors, like pitting without telling the pit crew to come out, and not changing the tires on another pit stop.

Oh also i believe i have to apologize to shaggy as after i got hit by magburner i stayed on the racing line then looked behind me and think this resulted in him having to go off the track to avoid me.

My apologies for that collision, but from my point of view you were all over the track. I don't think it was your driving, but your internet connection, or something like that, because your car was jumping from one place to another. When I hit your car, I was at least four foot away from you, and I was very surprised to see how your car flew off the track!

Yeah, that was me. I didn't lose control going over the curb, instead I hugged the line to much and my tires got off into the grass. You know that kind of grass that sucks you off the track? I spun into the wall, back on the track and then tboned.

Congrats to Z/FormulaNone on his win 👍 It would have been nice to see the outcome of the race :sly: had I not had connections issues :grumpy: but shoulda, woulda, coulda don't cut it in these events :) I'm getting Hungary for another race...........pun intended :dunce:

Fun stuff.. missed out on pole by about a tenth. Had a good start and tried to outbrake HEMI at turn 4, but got hit from behind (by whom, I don't know). Didn't see anybody waiting, so set off in hopes of catching up Duck and Mofo. Got distracted and almost missed my first stop, but short-shifting saved enough fuel for me to get round. Came back out in 2nd with Mofo attached to my gearbox, still trying to catch up Duck. Few laps go by and I've done so, but on the approach to turn 4, Duck disappeared for a second and I didn't know which line to take under braking. Went for the wide entry/tight exit plan, but Duck re-appeared sideways wrapped around my front wing (sorry). Caught up to CAMikaze with a few laps to go, so took an early 2nd stop and brought it home without issue from there.

Think I had fastest lap with a 1'13.196, but can't remember it exactly. Anyone else catch it?

Sorry, that was me that hit you. I tried to overtake someone in the Renault (Mofongo I think) after I got shoved out of turn 1 and I ended up braking way too late and hitting you. I had to make a stop to get a new nose wing because I could not drive the car at all with the front wing missing. As for that fastest lap, I'll put that down as I could not remember for the life of me who had the fastest lap at the end.

Also, Room will be up as much as possible this week. Parabolica room, Password is "Massa"

I qualy 4th. In front of me: Formula (Z), Racecar, and Hemi. I had a clean launch off the grid, I was able to clear T1 w/no problems. I took 2nd. when (I think) Hemi went very wide on T1 and I believe he got tangled with Racecar (I'm not sure), I was on the inside to avoid accidents so I couldn't see much. Formula missed his braking point on T2, so I passed him. From there on, I led the race until 2nd. pit stop. I don't know what happened to Formula, I was leading by a big gap after the 2nd. lap, up until the second pit stop. A 9.1 pit stop put me just behind Formula after the stop. I knew I could not catch him so I concentrated on keeping the four tires on the tarmac, so maybe I would benefit from any mistake that Formula could possible make. He didn't make any.

Man I was 4th on lap 2-3?... and then *SMACK*... poor Chris(CAMIkaze) and I had a crunch... then I couldn't drive the dang thing to pits.. then i had so many corner cuts that it was crazy... Got 0 points... oh well that's racing... --- Randy

So what's a good time for Hungary with the online cars? This should be a fun race. less than 2 weeks til the season starts. Who's excited!?

Offline, my best lap was 1'15.845 while consistantly lapping in the 1'16s. I can't wait for the season to start, even though I'm still abit displeased with the new regulations. Shall be interesting how they turn out.

Lapped a best of 1'14.679 last night.. consistently around 1'15.3 or so.

Excited is an understatement. :)

Yeah, the new cars are meh. But as long as the racing is close and more than 2 teams can win on any given sunday, it'll be good for the sport. Now we just need USF1 (Or USGPE now :grumpy:) and a USGP to get american's back into it. 👍

Excited? :nervous::drool::dunce::scared: :banghead: :eek::boggled::embarrassed:

Yes indeed i am excited!
2009 regulations have really turned the field upside down! Brawn GP have produced a potential dark horse for the championship, McLaren going down the crapper, a battle between KERS and non-KERS emerging and to top it all off, the BBC are producing the best coverage for....well....ever!
Just the opening bass notes to The Chain are giving me goosebumps in anticipation!!!!

Seeing what Brawn have done with little testing but large budgets and time, I'm very interested to see what USGPE does when they arrive in 2010, and with the current ban on in-seasn testing, I can imagine there will be a fair few test drivers clamering to grab those seats in the name of experience.
I hope someone like Nicolas Hülkenberg or even Takuma Sato gets a chance for a seat.

Well I realized I am not as familiar with Hungary as I thought. Started off in the low 1:18s, worked my way down to a 1:16.5 as my best and high 1:16s after that. There's a lot of places to gain a lot of time here.

T6 I've found you can take nearly flat when taken right. Same with T13.

Anyone have any tips for 10/11 complex? I seem to either come too hot into 10 and blow 11 or take 10 tight and seem to have too much room in 11. Almost the same with 15 and 16.

Track is a blast to drive though.

LOL.. I don't think I've seen two maps that are the same for Hungary, so based on the map you've got, I'll go from Turn 7:

Enter Turn 7 in 4th and hit 5th as you are exiting and begin your run to the chicane. As a personal preference, I hit 6th, but could probably get by riding the limiter in 5th on the run up, then change down to 4th for the entry and again hit 5th during the exit. I stay wide on the 'grasscrete' and hold 5th to enter Turns 10 and 11, but it requires gentle throttle or you'll find the car wanting to be in 4th as you exit 11.

Hit 6th gear as you enter Turn 12 and feather the blind entry to 13, going back to full throttle if you get it right. Again, as a preference, I ride the limiter in 6th before braking into 4th for Turn 14. Hit 5th just for a moment, then drop back to 4th for a very late apex at Turn 15. Again, hit 5th on the way up the hill and point the car directly at the armco. Late braking to 4th again for the final turn before the main straight, and hit 5th as you exit.

New personal best of 1'14.299.. so, the outlap is worth about .750-1s if you nail it, but the pit exit is very tight and difficult here.

Can anyone brake a 1:15.xxx online lap time at Budapest by sectors times?
(e.g., S1=26.???, S2=50.???, and S3=1:15.???)
I need to know where I'm loosing 1.5 seconds. :scared: Help!!!

I got it!!!

S1=27.340; S2=26.244; and S3=21.215

At the end of S2 I should have a combined time of: 53.584

I would have completed the lap in: 1:14.799

Fun practice tonite NTSC guys:tup:. I got a best of 1:15.7XX early on, which was the only lap where I got into the 15's. I was consistently in the low 16's. I think turns 10 & 11 (based on Sumpinton's map) are where I can shave the most time. Its so nice to have the DFP back!:)

I think I got into the 17's(or even the 1'16's) in the last practice race I had with Randy before we both left. Offhand, I can't remember the exact best time I had after tonight's race, but I'm getting a hang of the Hungaroring. :D

This brake down works. I was able to focus on the area where I was loosing time. I shaved the 1.3 secs I was loosing on Sector 2. I brought my time down to 1:15.6xx on clear air, and 1:14.8xx with draft.

If anybody is interested I'll have a Hungaroring practice set up by 9pm EDT in R130, PW gt5p

lol, I think none of us will be on F1CE practicing on saturday.
