Just check on ebay, typed in FANATEC, and no results ony for some seat and really old wheel.. but the new stuff.. all I know only from ONLINE store, especially RS edition wheel and Clubsport pedals. Seems they sell like hot cakes because it says on the website

First shipment (delivery April) sold out !
Next shipping date: June 2009

So if you wanna buy one, I would suggest their website because they take down on pre-orders.

But wait a bit, Sim Racing Tonight promised to review the wheel soon. So see the review then make a decision.

Sim Racing Tonight has already done a review of the Porsche 911 Turbo Wheel. They said they would not be doing a full review of the Turbo "S" wheel because they are essentially exactly the same wheel, only with X-Box compatibility added.

I pre-ordered my Turbo S Wheel. Receiving it sometime in June. Looking forward to finally having a wheel that will work on all my systems (not for my Super Nintendo though, sadly...). Not to mention the ability to harwear lock the wheel to 180, 360, or 900 degrees, making F1/Rally/Arcade games much more realistic and/or useable.

I'm a bit concerned that F1CE will not feel right with the RS wheel because of the larger size of the wheel & grip...

im wanting the original 911 turbo as it is fully wireless and i personally think Gran Turismo is the only good driving game so the xbox is not needed :)

Yeah they did.. But I was talking about the RS wheel. Sorry for misunderstanding ;) Last week's videos, they show the RS wheel box and said they do the review soon.

I don't think the larger wheel diameter is going to have much of an effect, other than giving you a bit more control. The larger wheel thickness, however, could take some getting used to.

Ahh, I see.... Yet again, though, there really isn't a whole lot to review, as the RS wheel is essentially the same as the Turbo wheel. It just has Alcantera instead of smooth leather, painted orange instead of silver, sans shifter (although the shifter can be added as an accessory), and with the Clubsport Pedals (which they have already reviewed) instead of the standard pedals. Oh, and no light up buttons (since the RS is mainly for PC use).

Looks the business though. I wish the Turbo Wheel looked like the RS, to be honest.

;)

I've got the RS wheel on order - I'm hoping that it IS fully functional with PS3 games.

I'm not crazy about the way it looks - I like the rugged simplicity of the G25. I also think it's a bit weird to be using a "Porsche" wheel with a variety of virtual cars. Why did Fanatec feel it was an advantage to use (& presumably PAY for the privilege of using) the Porsche logo? Does anyone feel that it will actually increase the sales of the Fanatec wheel?

Yeah I would love that they will sell Their own logo and design on the wheel as well.

And exactly Delphic, RS is TURBO wheel with stuff you mention.. But same Vibration and Force Feedback motors, so yeah it wont be much of review since they already love the wheel. Only thing is that now new DRIVER Patches for the software are out so it might feel lil different from last review.

It does say PC and for some PS3 titles, but not 100%. I don't know why Turbo wheel ismore compatible over RS wheel, basically same wheel with different skin on..

Hey Fanatec, how about different Manufacturers? I would love to see Mercedes Benz AMG series ;)

Hmm CLK DTM (Streen version)
TorqueOmata1297.jpg

or newer one CLK 63..

Something with Mercedes logo ;)

In fact there are more wheels on the way. With and without car branding.

Porsche definitly created a lot of extra buzz for us and we would have not got as much attention without it so it was a good choice. Porsche also opened a lot of doors for us.

You big tease.

Well, I am very much looking forward to receiving my Turbo S. I've only been waiting 5 years or so for something like this to come around. If it's everything that's advertised, you'll have a customer for life.

;)

Great news!

I hear once you open the Fanatec's Porsche wheel boxes, it smells like new car smell at Porsche car.

If you come out with even better options then the current one's, I will be very upset.
Why don't you let us in on your plans, so that we know which wheel to wait on. I have the turbo s clubsport wheel ordered and can't wait to get it. Do you have something better then that planned for multi console release?

Also I have not received an email from you about my testing of your turbo s clubsport wheel. I replied to an email from you 2 months ago, and have heard nothing. Just wondering where you guys are with the production.

Yes. We shipped the wheels from China for EU and next week to the US. Both shipments should arrive in about 3-4 weeks.

We will never stop developing and there will always something better coming up. But considering how long it takes to bring a product to the market even after we announced it you can already assume how long it takes until those products will come.
You can be sure that the Turbo S will be the best wheel for a long time and even if we come up with a new wheel you will still enjoy it. A Porsche 911 will also bring fun even if they release a new generation.

Ummm, yes...actually. The name "Fanatec" is a relative unknown. Porsche is well known, so they needed a big name to get sales. Once you have sales, if the product is good, word will spread which is exactly what happened. Do you think they would have done as well if they made a Skoda wheel with rubber-band tensioning?!

There might be some Skoda fans out there.. haha

Yeah also Fanatec mention that Porsche introduced them to new things and opportunities. Is int there a Fanatec wheel at the Porsche museum? That itself is huge honor to be part of it.

a Skoda wheel

LOL. Well, I definitely wouldn't suggest Skoda, but I question why they would tie in to any brand name, especially if they have to pay a lot for the privilege - it doesn't make sense to me to be driving a virtual Ferrari, BMW or Honda using a Porsche-badged wheel. The G25 seems to have a great rep without using a car manufacturer's name - & I like the "generic" look of the G25.

In the end, given the relatively small world of sim-racing, quality is the thing that really matters & I would rather Fanatec spend the money on the product rather than a brand tie-in. Personally, I find it a bit of a turn-off, but then I NEVER but any item with "name-branding" if I can possibly avoid it...

In case you've missed it

So yeah you will get your Generic Fanatec brand wheel :)

And by the way I would perfer to see G25 LOGO badge on wheel rather then the logitech logo.

I might want to add that the other wheels on the market are also using a brandname and probably paid more than we did. "Gran Turismo" is as much a licensed brand as "Momo" and of course "Ferrari".
In fact there are not many unlicensed wheels out there.

Without Porsche we would not make a Xbox360 wheel and that alone is a huge argument for us.

logitech used MOMO earlier they are not foreign to the idea either... Really it makes a lot of sense. You would be surprised how many who buy speakers, wheels or whatever for licenses... DFP being Gran Tourismo licensed and so on it sells :)

Well, I'm not making a big deal out of this - just curious how the gaming industry operates. I can understand using the Gran Turismo branding, since it is a "generic" tie-in (ie. not directly related to a single car brand) but I would imagine PC sim racers would prefer NOT to have to use a GT branded wheel. Momo is an obvious tie-in because it relates to actual steering wheels. I just think it's going to be a bit odd to be (virtually) driving a Corvette (for example) with a "Porsche" wheel.

However, I don't know if I'm prepared to wait for another non Porsche-branded Fanatec wheel, as I am just a couple of weeks (hopefully) from receiving my RS wheel, but if I had the choice, that's what I would choose. Just my two cents worth.

If you are for some reason a Porsche hater, then I guess.Otherwise I just don't see why it would matter.

Standing back I love the look of the wheel, but when playing game it is a transparent controller. There isn't any thought going into its branding, just its performance. A good wheel is a good wheel, regardless of the logo slapped on the middle of it.

It won't seem any more odd to drive a Ferrari with a Porsche wheel than it has in the past to drive a few hundred different cars all with the same exact wheel of any other brand.
