IMO wheel license branding (Porsche) doesn't really matter, it wont take away from the experience except I am not real fond of the design (Porsches design), I would prefer a generic 'automotive' design of similar quality. Especially if it drives price up due to licensing.

I am a little curious why being a Porsche wheel 'sealed the deal' on Xbox 360 compatibility, Microsoft like the idea of a Porsche wheel? (I don't expect a answer on that to be honest)

Well, that's my point exactly.

I also did not understand this.

actual[/I] steering wheels.

There are many PC sim racers with GT-Logitech wheels, back then they were best wheels for the money, all they had to do is get decent pedals.

In general, It wont matter to me that I drive a Ferrari with Porsche name in it. Hey Fanatec had to do something and get their name out there.. Look at them now, they sould out RS wheels, and who knows what else is sold out. Seems they are doing better and better.

For example, Thrustmasters are making wheels with Ferrari Badge. they Also have made Their own Thrustmaster Logo wheel. But somehow more people know about the Ferrari wheel then their own logo wheel. One reason, because of the Ferrari logo, other reason, because maybe their wheels are not as Hardcore as the G25 or the Fanatec wheels? Same with LOGITECH, who would of continue buying wheels from the people that make MICES, Keyborads, speakers? If it was not for GT logo, I would never buy it.

You always have to make 1st good impression for new companies, and seems collaboration is best way to go. I am also happy that Fanatec will make other brand car logos on their wheels as well their own logo. (Mercedes PLEASE!!!)

Besides I wont mind a bit to drive the GT3 RS wheel. For me it screams quality and race-history and sportiness. And I love how the wheel resembles a real life car over competition like the DF-GT and G25, so it will feel right at home. I may never own a Porsche in my whole life (maybe) but this will just motivate my dreams bit more.

Hey Fanatec, Me personally, once you guys do your own designed wheel with your own Fanatec logo, I hope you make it looks like it was an after market wheel. I would hate to see Buttons like on the DF-GT because it just makes it look more toyish.

Are you serious? Thats pretty shallow.
If they made poor mice, speakers, keyboards, speakers etc then thats one thing.

I also did not understand this.

I'm guessing they paid for the licensing of the 360 technology since Microsoft is against third party controllers.

Just my theory.

Fanatec have been making wheels for a long time before the Porsche deal. I used to use one of these for GT3:

Oh wow, never knew that? But still Fanatec seems New Company.. how long it's in buisness? 9-10 years?

See if it was not for Porsche badge and quality products they make.. I would never buy one..

Ok the ClubSport peddals sold me ;)

I am just making a note.. For me and I bet 1000s of players, if it was not for GT and Logitech Collaboration, I would never buy a wheel for GT game.

And they do make good quality stuff :) But if it was not for the GT logo, I bet they would make less sales and will have worse wheels, because GT designed the wheels as well, and told them what kind of feedback they wanted.

Well I have a feeling (I may be wrong) that GT is responsible (or a good portion atleast) for 900 degree capability. It seems to me the DFP which was purely sold as a Gran Turismo wheel initially is the first to feature it (as far as I know), I wonder if PD requested it or Logitech was designing it themeselves and PD jumped on it.

The DFP was a huge jump in wheel quality, before that I had a crappy thrustmaster Ferrari wheel that I never liked.

About three years ago I owned a Fanatec wheel for the Xbox for a while. It was a good quality product, but did not feature proper FFB & was certainly not at the level of the DFP.

Given that the new Fanatec wheels are aimed more at a hardcore gaming market than a general audience, I would tend to think that good reviews & word-of-mouth are the most important things in establishing a foothold in the market.

Personally, I love the rugged "after-market" look of the G25, but in the end, as long as the RS wheel works well, I can "overlook" the Porsche branding - I'll just close my eyes while I'm driving. ;)

You can always stick a sticker over the Porsche badge, or your girl friends pic. Me, I will be polishing the authentic Porsche badge every day! haha

If you talk about the RS wheel, For Europe they suppose to be shipped 2 weeks ago, and US, they suppose to be shipped one week ago...

But I never received my emial with confirmation and estimated delivery date. I email Fanatec in GTPlanet few days ago, no anwser yet. I really hope I get my wheel this week.

I have to wait till June or July to get my Turbo S. It's agonizing, since I sold 2 of my other wheels to afford the Turbo S.

;)

I still have my two wheels just in case. Lets say new Patch comes out and my RS wont be able to play GT5, I switch over to G25.

Man a week or two and I should have it!!! I am so excited!
On Sunday I took down my G25 from the cockpit.. it looks naked without a wheel.

I really hope it comes in by end of this week. So I can start playing GT5P and PC sim games. AHH THE WAIT!

Breaking News!

CNN is reporting Somali pirates have hi-jacked a ship known to be carrying Fanatec sim racing wheels to the U.S. An unidentified source within the State Department has confirmed that a U.S. counter-terrorist agent, known only as NoxNoctis Umbra, has been dispatched to the area to "deal with the situation"...

I was told by fanatec that people would be receiving the turbo s wheel pre production in april. I wonder why no one has mentioned receiving one yet? I hope that the june release date hasn't been moved back also. Any more delays would be agonizing.

Just received this from Fanatec:

We are now in the position to tell you the arrival dates of the first container shipments of the following products:

Clubsport Pedal
Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Porsche 911 GT3 RS Clubsport edition

The shipment will arrive on the 9th of May in Europe and on the 14th of May in the USA.

Customs and shipment to customers will take another one or two weeks. Unfortunatly our system does not support to automatically send tracking data but we will keep you informed if there is another delay.

I would like to apologize for this little delay butI would also like to wish you a nice weekend.

Best regards

Thomas

Looks like delivery end of May.

I still have not received the email...

What gives, After the delay the say end of April and Early may...

NOT end of may!!! I am bit MAD but its better to wait a bit and to receive updated clubsport pedals..

But still.. Because of so many DELAYS, they should give you FAST SHIPPING for free at least!

Cry...cry.. :scared: Is ok man you will get it soon.. you are still going to be slow...

If you did not receive this email but you already paid then something is wrong. Please contact us by email with your order number to make sure that you get your wheel.

I don't think Nox is all that concerned about receiving his wheel anyway... ;)

I ordered the 911 Turbo S Clubsport wheel about 3 weeks ago for what looks like a July shipment.

Now I read about all these delays and such...

Am I realistically looking at July/August, or or is it more likely Dec/Jan?

Are the website dates updated to account for the delays I keep seeing mentioned?

Ditto...

I haven't received any emails regarding a longer wait for the Turbo S wheels. Can we still expect them June/July as advertised on the website?

;)

The last email I received said June. But it also said that for those who didn't want to wait they could receive a pre production model in April. I haven't seen or heard of anyone receiving an April wheel. I also have not received any emails regarding my becoming a tester because of the delays. I was sent an email and I asked if I could receive a pre production wheel as a tester, and still buy the finished product when released. He asked me if I had signed up already to test, and if I had to give him my info. I did, and I have not heard anything.

It has been over 2 months since thomas has contacted me. It just seems like another delay is on the horizon for the turbo s wheel. I may be wrong, but that's just the impression that I have received.

I ordered the shifter adapter, and the shifter extension cable. I have already received both, but at the fanatec site it says that they are still being processed, the same as my turbo s clubsport wheel. It should say shipped or delivered for my adapters.

Maybe they only update their purchase orders every 2 months or so, because that's how long ago I received my order. I'm really starting to get leery with fanatec as a whole. In the beginning, when the products were announced, and all of us were placing our orders, the customer service was pretty good. It seems like now though, after they have gotten our money, that they are starting to not pay as much attention to us.
