I have noticed lately that the logo of the Gran Turismo has been on the windshield of racing cars of D1GP and including Le Mans (Peugeot 908 HDi FAP with a complete paintjob).

Will it be just a sponsorship or means that we also will have some of these events/cars in GT5?

Sony and Gran Turismo are sponsors for a very long time and not all the sponsored cars have made it through the past games so...
I don't think there's a clue here
 
Of course, if they make the game "properly", you could build any one of those cars yourself... :drool:

EDIT: Just got thinking about some people whinging about PD focusing on various areas to the detriment of various other areas; especially on the circuit front. Apologies if this is duplicated elsewhere...
I just checked out the track lists from GT3 and GT4, assuming that the lists here on GTP are correct and my counting skills are as good as they ever were:

GT3:
20 circuits not including "reverses" (this seems really low!)
  • 3 based on real streets
  • 3 real racing circuits
  • 4 new to the series
GT4:
39 circuit locations; 53 total variants, not including "reverses"
  • 11 based on real streets
  • 9 real racing circuits (20 including variants)
  • 23 locations new to the series
I think that we can assume that GT5 will extrapolate on this further..? Of course, GT2 had far more courses than GT3 and this is probably due to the platform switch, but hasn't GT5 been in production longer than GT3 was? Also, didn't PD change their production techniques to make it easier for them to transfer content from one generation to the next?

As they have sponsored things in the past that never made it into the games I wouldn't hope for that too much.

I do find it hopeful that I keep seeing GT pop up more and more in large sponsorship deals. It's almost as if they are advertising a game that should be out very soon.

It has been about the same amount, I think it just us noticing it more.

The Official Peugeot Teams have written XBOX360 all over the place and the Pescarolo Peugeots have Playstation all over them.

Will both Microsoft and Sony take up some stands at the Le Mans 24 Heures event?

Forza devs (Turn 10) are in France for the race now, I assume KY and crew will be there also.

Looking at your Xbox Peugeot pic it doesn't have much Xbox sponsoring unlike the Playstation Pescarolo.

I think there is a small Forza Motorsport logo on the 360 908's dash and thats it

That's a wonderfully done photoshop image of cars in GT5P, that a fellow GTP user made and shared with us on this forum a few months ago.

I don't have the link, but I think he even posted a higher rez image of it... but it is definitely not GT5.

I'm thinking, can't PD omit the Xbox 360 & Forza logos on the works 908 for it to make it's debut in GT5? Similar to how PD replaced the Silk Cut sponsorship with purple blocks on the Jaguar XJR-9?

Yes, they also whited out the EA logo on the NASCAR cars.

Do you think SONY would allow PD for GT5 to have more than 50 trophies ? for example 70 ?...
I know that might be little bit lame thing to think about but since the game is presumably going to be HUGE in amount of cars, tracks, races ... - I wonder if there will be a trophy for completing 24h races on LS and Nurb ?:)

The other thing I was wondering about was do you think GT5 will be better in term of graphics than GT5: P ? or was it already pointed by SONY/PD/KY that it will be the same ? Just wondering what should I prepare myself for ...

Trophies in a game are not limited by the total number of trophies, but rather by a trophy value. Each trophy has a certain point value and then each game is allowed a certain trophy value so that reaching a platinum in one game is equal to a platinum in another. It is why some games, like Burnout Paradise, can have a platinum trophy without completing 100% of the game.

GT5 could possibly have 70 trophies, but you would have very few, if any, silver and gold trophies.

To add to that: PSN games have a lower trophy value unless they are fully featured games like Wipeout HD.

The other thing I was wondering about was do you think GT5 will be better in term of graphics than GT5: P ? or was it already pointed by SONY/PD/KY that it will be the same ? Just wondering what should I prepare myself for ...

From the trailer, I think it looks the same as Prologue. Although it does appear to possibly have added motion blur to create a greater/better feel of speed. But that could just be trailer editing.

But if PD did find some way to improve graphics from Prologue I can see them doing it. I just think that if they are adding damage, weather, and/or day/night time changes that they would likely not want to risk draining resources from the graphics processor.

I didn't know there was a limit on trophies allowed per game

I can think of 8 trophies alone just for the license tests. 4 for getting each license, 4 trophies for getting all gold on each license.

I think GT5 will look better, but it will be in the little things, like maybe more 3-D spectators in the pits, improved frame rate when a lot of cars are on screen, more AA, better grass textures etc. I don't expect anything major as the graphics are amazing as they are.
 
Thank you FoolKiller - I had no idea games have trophy value limitation - too bad :( If GT5 had trophies, so much content (presumably) definitely deserves more trophy value than for example any strictly F1 game...
 
I'm awaiting little less detail on cars as they are almost perfect and much more details on track and surroundings. Stable framerate of course and really usable antialiasing. More effects like heat haze mirroring (was present in one trailer two years ago when Mercedes SL entered the main straight of Suzuka), sparkles, backfires, dust, realistic clouds of smoke, flying grass, dirt, stones, autumn leaves and flowers on Eiger when cutting the corners :embarrassed:)

Well performing LOD (level of detail) system is crucial, it can save many performance of graphical system for closer things and release performance of things that are far there. Prologue doesn't have good one, cars are changing shadow detail based on distance, not based on percentage size on the screen and it's really visible.

We'll see and I'm really looking forward to finally see the holy grail.
 
Hello guys, remember the article showing the Koenigsegg in the news section? I decided to have another look at the proper graphics website. When you are directed to the pictures & video showcasing the Koenigsegg, it says, Koenigsegg CCX- in-game model by Gran Turismo 5 standards? I'm not sure what this means, as the article on GTplanet said that PD may collaborate with them in the future or something? Can someone explain please? I think it's just me being dumb :dunce: but I couldn't help noticing that it said GT5 & "only in-game textures used"

2. Power-over... same thing, really. I play on GT4 loads, and on a BMW M5, with road tires and no aids, you should be able to get the back out no problem. But it's real hard. How has power-over and car rotation been improved in GT5P?

3. Clutch... is it proportional, or like on-off? Can you do proper starts like in a normal road car in real life (push in clutch, put it in gear, build some revs, then gradually let the clutch out)?

questions 1 and 2, yes the physics for these are greatly improved and much more realistic

But the clutch is a on and off button, you cant ride the clutch. I hope the final game is a bit different, and we should be able to stall the car!

If you have a Logitech G25 (I'm not sure about the Porsche Wheel because I only have a G25) the clutch is kind of semi-real. The engage point is when you're foot is almost completely off the pedal. Plus you have to push it in to get to it again (i.e. your in first and you mess up the start). It is also hard to get the start right. You have to go very slow if you don't want to do a quickstart.
