My name is Brian and welcome to Z.Spec. This shop was originally setup to focus its tuning on Fairlady Z's, but has spread to other Nissans (as well as a few other imports and Euros). All of the following tunes are done on my own so they are built to fit my driving style, but hopefully they will suite most of you just fine. My tunes are designed for all-around performance - not specifically for a particular track.

With time attack tunes I like to get a little bit of oversteer if I can - oversteer is easier for me to compensate for than understeer. I would say my cars do get some excess wheelspin from time to time but for my personal tastes it isn't too much.

As for my drift tunes I am more about overall speed in my drifts even if it sacrifices some angle. I do use the handbrake with my drifting as well - even though it is a very basic technique I have no problems relying on it to have fun.

**A quick note about my drift car settings - while everyone knows you don't need a lot of power to built a great drifter, I try to push the capabilities of each car at higher power ranges. However, this can lead to some cars being quite difficult to handle - and it also means that these cars may not be well suited for competition, but rather better used for exhibition or fun.**

All tunes are tested online and offline - I use a DS3 controller, ABS at 1, grip at Real. Time Attack tunes are on Racing Soft tires, Drift tunes are on Comfort Hard tires.

Hello, welcome to the tuning board. I like the fact you have a drift specific tune, however, I'm a bit puzzled why acceleration is 5? I thought a higher value to lock the spin of both wheels together on drift would be more predictable in the direction it is being pushed?

The settings are set that way because of how I tuned the car (i.e. the order in which I adjusted settings). I set the LSD settings all the way down (5) to start with and simply raised/lowered them after each run to see how the values affected how the car handled.

I just know when I have tried the seasonal drift trials I usually found better drift control with acceleration at 45+ since both wheels would break loose together in a more controlled fashion, it maintained forward motion and was easier to steer for me. Was just curious, if you found 5 works than cheers.

Use what you like - these are just my tunes that I have spent many hours testing out, and will spend many more tweaking them.

In no way will I say these are THE settings to create a good Z, these are just what work for me. There is a 1,000,001 ways to tune a car and these are my take on them. I haven't seen very many Z tunes posted so I wanted to share what works for me.

What about tuning the 300zx 2 by 2. You have done the 2 seater, why not do its sister?

What about tuning the 300zx 2 by 2.

Which one? What type of tune (if there's a preference)?

Nissan 300ZX 2by2 (Z32) ‘98 or
Nissan Fairlady Z 300ZX Version R TwinTurbo 2by2 (Z32) ‘98

300zx 2by2 (z32) '98 first please. Used your tunes for my nissan's and found them great for my driving style. Thanks.

Hello, welcome to the tuning board. I like the fact you have a drift specific tune, however, I'm a bit puzzled why acceleration is 5? I thought a higher value to lock the spin of both wheels together on drift would be more predictable in the direction it is being pushed?

I've been meaning to have some discussion about this on the drift boards.

I recall watching a D1 event one time, and one of the cars was DQ'd for an illegal LSD setup. There was no explanation of what made it illegal, so I could only speculate. My best guess is that it may have been because the diff was at or near full lock. So, why wouldn't you want that in drift? Again, this is just speculative, but I think it is because a drift run is judged on more than just how "sideways" someone gets. It's about how much speed they're carrying, and the transition from accelerating down the straight to drifting through the corners. If the teams could run out with locked diffs, it would require less skill on the part of the driver...

All speculation aside, I need to find the regs and see what's up. I think it would be way more challenging and fun to hold drift events in GT5 that restricted how much of a locked diff setup one can use, assuming such a reg exists in D1GP or Formula Drift...

Thoughts?

Edit: I finally quit being lazy and spent some time to look at the official technical regs. Nothing mentioning differentials. In regards to differentials and drifting, the only thing I've found so far is the Wikipedia article which mentions that 2-way limited slips with aggresive accel and braking lock are preferred. Assuming the article is accurate, it renders my above thoughts moot. Anyhow, I'm going to carry this over to the drifting forum if I come across any more interesting info (didn't mean to stray OT here...)

How about a Nurburgring tune for any of the GT500 Z's. Racing softs and a Turbo if you like.

Like the layout of your tunes. Good stuff.

I'll have to see what I have in my garage to work with. It may be such a thing that I list what I have and let people pick and chose what takes priority.

If I may ask, perhaps the 240ZHG:
2422233019_00618271eb_o.jpg

Sadly, it tops out at 260~hp

I'll see what I can come up with. The GT series Z tune may be on hold until I get more time and money scrounged together.

Well there is two 240ZG's, the American version doesn't include 'Fairlady' in the name and is also slightly less powered stock. :(
