Introduction
Introducing a fresh virtual tuning garage "Back Yard Special". The honda enthusiasts among you might recognise the "BYS" brand, as the name is lifted from a (not so well known) japanese honda tuning garage. And therein lies my history with cars - I owned a Honda Integra DC2 SiR, I bought it standard, modified it and put it through it's paces on several track days. Through the NZ Honda club, friends and family I have some exposure to (mostly Japanese) performance cars and that will probably bleed over to the cars and type of tuning carried out.
Tuning Rig & Set up
Hardware & Settings: All tuning will be carried out on a "Logitech Driving Force GT" with manual transmission. Tunes will generally not be tested on the DS3, so you may find the tunes a little touchy without the steering, throttle and brake control that steering wheels and pedals allow.
Circuits: As you have probably guessed from my banner, I enjoy racing on the Tsukuba circuit. This track is one of many used for "Time Attack" or "Tuner Battles" in Japan. The track itself provides a good mix of low and high speed corners and as it's quite short - allows for quick turn arounds on tunes. Typically, any car capable of lapping Tsukuba under 60 seconds is anything but slow.
More often than not I will also try my tunes out on other tracks such as the Suzuka or Laguna Seca circuits. Lastly, I will always try to compare my times to those from the real world when available.
Comments: The layouts of the tunes themselves will be as follows; a brief introduction to the car, parts-list, settings/tune, results (lap times and real world comparisons) and finally some comments & tips on the car & tune. Also each car and tune will receive a [beginner], [intermediate] or [skilled] mark depending on the driver skill required to handle the car & tune.
