This is the the big daddy very nearly the big daddy of the AMG line up. Actually, technically it's the most powerful car with an AMG badge on it. So maybe it is the boss. :P With a simply stupid amount of torques, this car will accelerate like no other through 110-170mph, the way the speedo rises is comical. In the corners it won't be too shabby either, despite its heavy weight. With throttle control, winning a 650PP seasonal is easily possible (as you can see from the picture, 650PP at Suzuka win for me ).

Although the SLR doesn't bear an AMG badge, it is the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz sports car line. Meaning that this is actually the big daddy of Mercs.

The tune might work on the NCD version of the SLR too, I haven't tried it out, can someone get back to me on that one?

McLaren F1 tuned for 650PP. And it currently holds the lap record for the fastest time set by any road car around GVS, my test track for all my tunes. That's including any road car above 650PP. Just to give you some idea of how ferociously fast this is.

Hi Trackripper,
Here's a...
Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG '08
...review.

Tested on update 2.07 offline, sixaxis controller, grip reduction real, aids off (except ABS 1)

STOCK
A very lasting first impression was formed the first time I jumped on the middle pedal heading into the Grand Valley hairpin: "braaaaaaaaaaaaaaakes!!! wheeeeere are they????". Also, even with 7 ratios, the uber-wide gearing is clearly designed for quietly wafting along an autobahn at 250 km/h, not keeping the engine within its powerband at a racetrack. Normally, I'm a big fan of "throttle steer" but in this case there was far too much power oversteer which means the driver needs to nurse the rear end. My overall impression was of a soft, heavy car with an epic engine.

Grand Valley East 1:13.0

PARTS ONLY (default settings, except LSD 5/5/5)
Absolutely ferocious. Even with sticky racing soft tyres, the engine spat me into the wall the first two times I politely asked the car to change direction. Also, it suffers/features wheelspin up to 150 km/h.

Changing direction needs to be planned well in advance, since the chassis is too slow to respond, and degenerates into understeer anyway. It just has no agility at all. Even when the rear tyres are up in smoke, it just means a temporary reduction in understeer. Thankfully, braking is much improved over stock.

At Deep Forest, the understeer is not as bad (possibly due to the reduced traction). But it still isn't at all confidence inspiring and has the feeling of the car being reluctantly dragged around by its nose.

Grand Valley East 1:02.0
Deep Forest 1:13.8

Lets see what Ripper Tuning Garage can do...

RIPPER TUNING GARAGE TUNE
At Grand Valley, it feels much the same as the "parts only" tune (ie "stodgy and too much understeer for my liking). But the stopwatch shows it is faster, which is an achievement in itself.

However, it's better news at Deep Forest- the improved balance over the "parts only" tune is much appreciated. The front end still rolls around, causing chunks of understeer for a split second. It also remains that the quickest way around a track is doing whatever you have to so that you can unleash the engines fury as soon as possible exiting the corner.

Grand Valley East 0:59.9
Deep Forest 1:11.9

Still not a car I'd be hanging out to drive, but a great improvement has been made with Ripper Tuning Garage's tune.

Thanks for the review Nomis!

I'll admit I'm not completely happy with that tune, for exactly the reasons you mentioned, understeer, but I felt I had done my best in trying to eradicate it and it was a large enough improvement over the stock version to be published as a tune. Then again the car in question is hardly meant to be a handling machine in the first place. Maybe I'll look over it again some day, picking up new things tuning-wise every day so... 👍

The mad Renaultsport Clio V6. And it begs the question: Why did they name it the Renaultsport Clio Renault Sport Clio Sport Renault Clio Sport V6 Phase 2 '03? For your sanity's sake, I've left out the repetitions on this tune's name.

Anyway, it's MR, believe it or not, and its incredibly short wheelbase means a very lively rear that's relatively easy to control and sharp crisp handling. Enjoy!

Sorry to kinda barge in and relieve on your new tune…but am I right in saying that this was also the same Clio that was being beaten continuously by my 500PP car?

Eh, mind you, it's an Elise it was against, and the Renault wasn't actually that far behind, so if anything, it just shows how capable it can be.

Apart from when it's in your hands. I kid. Obviously.

Yes, the very same. :P

You say that, but this was tuned offline remember, and it's somewhat capable online, just a lot looser.

Elise vs Clio is hardly fair... Actually I seem to remember beating you with it on a certain Indy Road Course a few days ago?

Onboy123
Nope. :P You were alongside my Elise, but I was ahead. :P We should do a race with these Clios, I'm sure I have one lying around somewhere.

I have a 500pp tune posted for this car. :dopey:

The cutesy Sports 800 from Toyota. Let me make one thing plain: due to this car's incredibly low weight, it isn't really competitive against cars with a similar PP... Stupidly, I accidentally installed a Weight Reduction Stage 1, which ruined the PP, so keep your eyes peeled for edits to this tune once I find another 800 to mess around with... I did tune this for the Japanese Classics seasonal initially, but I think it's more a tune to have fun with, not to win races with. Despite its tiny power, it will happy kick its tail out all day and hold it there, and in the high revs, will eagerly pull itself along. Just don't drop to low revs, ever. Oh and... it doesn't do standing starts. At all. But all that doesn't matter since you'll have a massive smile on your face once it gets going.

Ripper Tuning Garage is now bringing in the "1 Review, 1 Request" policy, so for each review, you can request a tune from me.

It'll stop my indecision over which car to tune next anyway.

Does my review on the FF Summer Shootout count? I'd love to see what you could do with a Caterham 7 Fireblade. ACSR gave me a quick tune for it (un-be-leavable balance). But like the Kusabi the contrast between the two tunes should only emphasize their individual strengths.

Sure, why not. :) I have one lying around I think, I'll give it a go.

Sweet! Thank you.

Not that I'm trying to get you worked up but: for the second time I tried ABS:0 last night, with ACSRs' 'blade. Within less than a minute it felt natural. So, whatcha got?

Hey I gave you your first "review" does that mean I can make a request? :mischievous:

Yup. Knowing you, you're just going to ask me to tune something you can't right? :P

I doubt very much my tune is going to be up to par with ACSR's, he is quite the tuner. :P
Any particular PP you want the Fireblade for?
