Just stopped by the local BB after class and indeed they do have the demo set up. I don't have any proof (no camera) but I do have the address.

7665 Sudley Rd
Manassas, VA 20109

Here's one in Michigan!!!

I took a pic with my phone but I'm trying to figure out out to transfer it to my computer because I don't have internet on my phone. Here's the location address:

74 N.ADAMS ROAD ROCHESTER HILLS, MI 48309

EDIT: I forgot to mention that store is a Gamestop

It's there on the PS3 with the small screen. Infuriatingly, however, the 1st controller is broken and you can only load the menu. The 2nd controller won't let you play. The system needs to be reset. I stood there 20 minutes as every Best Buy employee avoided the games section like the plague.

The date stamp on the demo says 8/31.

Dont know if anyone has mentioned this, can we make a list of best buy's where it isnt? I know it would be huge, but say if I go check one or two later today and theyre not there, maybe that could be useful information to some?

i just played the GT5 demo today at best buy.... the address is 39330 10th St W
Palmdale, CA 93551 .... i enjoyed the demo. the only problem was the joystick was messed up so it was a bit difficult to drive

MY TURN TO PLAY THE DEMO
Demo Screen:
http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/3232/dsc03128.jpg
I asked the department sales man, and he told me that the Sony Vendor came to load the game, it was not given to any of the store employee to do it. (So my guess is that the Sony employee or Demo Vendor would be the sole person to have such demo in his/her hand, and if (s)he really wanted to, they could load it at their own house or that of their family and friends...)

After the game loads, you are welcomed to this screen:
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/7985/dsc03132ks.jpg
Only the "Arcade" mode is accessible on this demo... everything else is locked (photo mode, my "room", online race, GT TV, options, GT news, Replay, Guide)

Next in the Arcade Menu: you can choose your level:

I went difficult right away... didnt try Medium or easy, not challenging :dopey: enough (i would guess).

Once the level of difficulty chosen: you are brought to the screen to choose:
Race, Time Trial, or 3 other options (which are blocked).

Next: you have 5 tracks to choose from (all available in Race or TT)

Then you choose your car...

... and this is all the cars available.

VIDEO SECTIONS:
Sorry in advance for the bad quality videos, But it was the best i could do with my K850i camera phone
Please view those videos in a small screen player lower resolutions will let you "best enjoy it"

sorry for the bad driving, that was my very first time with GT5 demo
driving the 458 (on N1 tires) through the Ss of the Green Hell
Sorry for the noise background... there was a FPS game demo nearby, and kids playing loud.

3154:
458 Italia (R3) in Green Hell (replay view from external cameras):
http://yfrog.com/mzmov03154z
http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/5688/mov03154.mp4

You can see on the very first corner, as i was not used to the R3 yet (having just switch from one extreme N1 to the other R3) i over anticipate the need to turn... i turned before i really needed to. (With the N1 tires, you had to turn before the turn in order to make it, as things kinda slide a bit more than using R3)
There is a spin out and big crash after 1'22.

3155:
458 Italia (R3) in Green Hell (same replay but view from Chase cam)
The same spin out and big crash after the 1 minute mark.

3156:
Godzilla in Italy (dirt racing in Toscana)
Having practice a few times before i could record a descent run...
... but still very loose gravel.

Dont mind the "black screen" at 1'10 (the sun was setting :P)... i manage to complete the whole tocana track right under 2 minutes.

3157:
Lambo in Japan (lol the opposite of video 3156)
hear the honk?? just pust on the L3 button ;)

AI in difficult Mode are definitively much more agressive than in other previous GT games...
... during this run, i got sandwiched between a Citroen GT, and a 458, and they wouldn't let me go...
they dont back down! But nothing will replace a real player/opponent.

OVERALL impression:
At first, it seem a tad harder and slippery than GT5-TT, but then i realize i was driving the 458 with N1 tires... once switched to R3s, the Green Hell seemed to be a bit more manageable... although you probably have to go through a small learning curve...
I now understand why so many people had such difficulty playing this game during this summer's several conventions and gathering!!! You can easily (VERY) easily lose grip and tractions when using those overpowered light cars, especially if you are a journalist or young aged player with no experience with GT, and to make matters worse, if you drive with N1 tires.

I have been playing GT since the second edition, and yet it took me a few laps to get to know the behavior of this physics... It feels like you are on ice! (as opposed to "It feels like you are on fake rubbers" in FM3)

playing with the pad:
I found playing with the D-pad easier than the joystick! It's very lose and very easy to lose control of the car, especially the 458 on the Green Hell, if you have 1/4 of one of the tire on the grass, you can say adios! and viva the spin out! :scared:

Playing with the Chase cam view:
Seem pretty similar to GT5-P, maybe a tad more loose, but not much...
Closer to GT5-P than GT3.

Graphics:
It didnt looks so good playing on a 30 inch? tv... this game is definitely meant to be played on a large >46inch tv... the bigger the better...
I cant wait to have it on my 50in plasma.
(those of you with small screen, save your money to buy a large TV 💡 👍 )

Sounds:
couldn't say much as it was on a small screen and with a noise in-store background... but it looks that typical of GT games...
The Citroen GT seem to have gained combustion engine sound, as opposed to the all electric wooossshhhhh from in GT5-P ... :D

Seems like there will be more stores to benefit from the demos, Sony is trying to put GT5, PS3, and Sony flat screens on every kids' wish lists for the upcoming holiday season...

EDIT: Apparently the PS3 and the remote control there are in pretty bad shape now... Cannot play the Demo due to technical hardware problems. :(

One thing that is crazy, is we all know that Kaz said there wouldn't be demo but they are already at retail stores here in the U.S. I guess Sony made the final decision, but if they are putting this out there for people to try then they should just put it on the psn store. Unless it does carry bugs that could crash peoples systems.
They are not just putting this out for people to try (i.e. to satisfy the impatient fans). They are doing this to advertise the PS3. You already have a PS3 and you will buy the game anyway, so you are are not a target for promotion. Sorry to single you out, but that's just how it is.

As for people trying the demo and commenting how the lighter cars are overpowered and hard to drive (like on ice). I find it very strange that anybody interested in cars at all would say that something is overpowered. Overpowered for what? Taking the kids to school? You just need to be more gentle with the pad controls.

How far are you stood from the screen on these kiosks? 2 or 3 feet?

Standing 2 feet away from a 30" TV is just the same as being 4 feet from a 60" TV (in terms of relative size). That's equivalent to you being 3.3 feet from your 50" plasma, which you may well be when playing games, I don't know. Even if you were stood 3 feet away at the kiosk, that's still equivalent to you being only 5 feet away from your plasma.

Yep, there is more to playing on a large screen than just the relative size of the image - it "feels" more cinematic as you can be sat further away in the comfort of a chair and still appreciate all that detail, as opposed to squinting up close to a smaller screen. However, in terms of the actual image...2 feet from a 30" screen looks no different to being 4 feet from a 60" screen. So, the statement of "bigger is better" is not quite true. It depends on viewing distance (with equivalent resolutions of course).

Good thinking and an excellent point. You get a star for that one. :) After visiting 2 local Best Buys and a Target over the weekend without success, I wondered why some stores had the demo and others didn't. I just assumed the stores were sent a pack from Sony and some stores just hadn't gotten around to it.

After my message on the Best Buy forums I received a reply stating that Sony don't want the Demo to be displayed in UK Best Buy stores. I have been told that the team that deal with the stores games/entertainment are going to try and persuade Sony to allow them to display the demo.

I will wait patiently for a further response.

That sucks, but then again my nearest Best Buy is in Birmingham so thats a bit of a drive, but still i'd do it for GT5!

Thanks for the update and raising the issue with them. Hopefully they'll convince Sony to put the demos in Best Buy UK but I'm sure they'll be rolled out at some point in the UK, I'm sure I've seen demos of previous games in HMV before.

I could not agree more with you 👍

I find it very strange that anybody interested in cars at all would say that something is overpowered. Overpowered for what? Taking the kids to school? The way i described it, was not meant to show how i am a neophyte to the car world ( i am not). Rather, i was using simple terms as a neophyte to such games would say. (Putting myself in their shoes: i didnt want to take it from a perspective of car connoisseur, i had to see why so many people in past conventions were not able to play properly... and now i understand why, having walked in their shoes).
Furthermore i dont find it strang to described those super car as overpowered, if compared to K-cars or Golfs or Integras... You can still very much so race with those cars... but the Ferraris, and Lamba required more skills (in real life) and (like you say) more gentleness on the pad.
Again, i was putting myself in the shoe of the neophyte, where usually they would push the button hard and wouldn't let go of it, even on a bent. (But i did). Having tested the demo, i still believe, the first impression anyone would say, is that the cars dont stick to the road... (because nobody tends to be gentle on the pad when playing car games) Very icee! (more similar to GT5-TT than GT5-P) But that in turn, should force people to be more gentle, and understand the physics behind... you can't just push button and go... there is not reward in that.

How far are you stood from the screen on these kiosks? 2 or 3 feet?
i dont know how high the screen was, i am 5ft7 and yet i had to look up...
(i am not tall nor short) the screen was probably hanged at least 6 feet high...
but my eyes were probably 2 feet away from the screen. (at arm's length).

I understand your point here... but the issue is not there...
The issue, and what i was trying to say, is that with a smaller screen (lower quality), you have lower resolution and less definitions.

With a bigger screen, no matter where you stand, close or far, it would still look good...

With a smaller screen, closer usually does not do it/you a favor... you would have to stand back 4 or 5 feet out just to have a (false) sense of quality.

See above... I am glad you added the last part in parentheses. 👍.. because that is a huge difference... The in-store screen, compared to what i have at home, is/would be like night and day... I compared the graphics in that specific sense.

In regards to TV, generally bigger is better.

PS: by the way, i forgot to comment on the Nascar run i did yesterday, it actually was not bad at all... less boring than you would first think... pretty fun trying to make your way through the top of the ranks, going in circles at more than 130mph... every little moves can make a big difference...
I truthfully and surprisingly have enjoyed it 👍

Thanks for the Stars Paskowitz :) I wasn't even trying to get it.
Actually i went to the store not knowing that GTP had such thread until i came home to post it... i just wanted to share my experience and anticipation with you guys/girls... I am now less eager at the release now, not because it was a bad experience, but rather i feel comforted and quenched (sort of) after having waited for so long...

Erm, thanks, because the 3 people that have been there and the 2 that have posted videos and pictures just weren't confirmation enough. Good luck!

Anyone think we should start adding Targets yet? Or shall we wait till we get a few more?

Not just trying to get 100 post so I can start my own thread (

I was at my target today and they didnt even have a Kiosk set up for any game system. Wierd...

They did have a lot of toy Kiosk set up for all different types of toys. Go figure!
