Hmm that video was short and not much impressive... But anyway, finally something new... And if gamestop reveals new infos about GT5 every tuesday, it seems like there will be no other infos coming from any other sources, what you mean?? Would make no sense if gamestop shows content that we already have seen somewhere else...

They're simply getting exclusive content to reveal. That doesn't mean that other places can't show stuff either. Companies tend to give GameStop stuff to put on their website because it has so many visitors.

I know what you mean, and although it's been explained to you how it works in Prologue, the main argument or objection remains, that's why I created this thread.
Hopefully it provides some more insight as you're not alone in wishing for more accurate automatics.:)

Thanks for the link. Interesting reading. It seems we share a similar opinion on the subject.

We can only hope that PD has put an effort into simulating automatic transmission accurately. I'm glad you guys helped me realise the root of the problem. Shifting paddles or not doesn't really matter as long as every single cars basically behaves like it uses a manual transmission.

However, if PD has included a realistic simulation of automatic transmission, then my initial concern gets back on topic. Manual shifting should not be allowed in cars using a traditional automatic transmission without modern technologies such as Tiptronic or similar. While this is not the case for cars such as SL55 AMG, it could be a problem for older cars in GT5.

We all know that manual shifting is an advantage in racing. So it would simply be unfair if the game allowed us to shift manually while that wouldn't be an option in the real car using a traditional automatic transmission. Allowing automatic transmission in a car with a manual transmission is a different story though as there is no advantage to gain and neither does it add any unrealistic abilities to the transmission.

There is mechanical damage display on the left hud, I haven't seen before

good call, I was wondering what they was, the course look pretty dull for the most part.

I worry that the randomly generated point to point rally races might get somewhat.. repetitive after a while, just from seeing the same few scenery over and over again, still better than none I guess.

Alright. To the right to the Toscana scenery there's "Eifel":

It's interesting to note that it's Eifel (Circuit). Toscana is Toscana (Pavement).

In case you didn't know: The Nürburgring is in the Eifel region in Germany.

To all those worried about the course maker tracks looking graphically inferior, just look at the hud or the dials of the bumpercam, they also look less detailed and fuzzy, just a poor recording I gather or the 'typical' YouTube quality.
I'm sure it will look as good as the other clips shown of the Toscana rally track as I can't see why they wouldn't ( maybe I'm wrong and they do indeed have a bit less detail but that video isn't clear enough, for the reasons mentioned above, to make that observation ) as the environment used is the same.

So I guess that Eifel is the "German Springtime" course maker location mentioned at the GamesCom?
By the way, from the looks of the small image, it seems that courses generated with that theme will have a racetrack-like environment.

Anyway, personally I'm expecting to see an Alps mountainpass and a japanese mountainpas theme.
I hope we will be able to choose the track elevation difference too!

Yea, it appears Eifel will be a "circuit theme". It even says "circuit" in parentheses next to it. So, not all will be just country roads.

In regard to graphical quality, it will surely be the same quality graphics without all of the pizazz that the polished circuits will have. But, that is just going to be the case with randomly generated circuits. And until we get a more "fleshed out" editor (gt6?), then this is what it will be unfortunately.

With that said, I think this is where I will spend a lot of my time. Just testing different cars on random tracks. Also, I think this will be the key to making the rally portion of the game sooooo much better than previous GT's.

No, that one had a different icon.

It's cool to see a "Eifel racetrack" scenario, it should mean tracks with a similar pavement/feel like the Nordschleife, this way you can make typical "old" European racetracks, awesome.

Someone on a German forum who works at a company like Amazon called Expert : http://www.expert.de/expert/index.action

He said he just recieved an e-mail of the central office which says . Attention ! Gran Turismo 5 doesn't ship as planned. It delays to an unknown date...

:(

I want official statements soon!
I'm pretty upset, bet all of you are.
It's like Belgium will get a government before GT5 comes out,
and that's almost impossible!

vague vague vague rumors.

I'm not worried.

They're vague but they're helped by Sony's silence on GT5's release. So far the only division of Sony that seems to be marketing the game for release is Japan, as they currently have the We Love Cars ad running with the release date (11/3) at the end.
