Maxed High speed ring now. 9:59:967 I think it is pretty much max, same time as the world leader Ken-Atlas down to the last .00x
Only Sarthe left to improve significantly on, just about 4.5 seconds away from the theoretical minimum time now, and I have 2.5 of those seconds in Sarthe. Glad I got the other 4 tracks out of the way just in time, a Finnish dude has started posting decent times in my region and was world top 6 on high speed ring.

Good luck man. Hope I figure out Sarthe by monday, I can run a 12:58:1xx anytime, but the 12:55:xxx stuff boggles my mind. I will feel safe If I can pull a very low 12:56 though so will probably settle for that, and go try to improve monza, not much to gain there, but I hate doing Sarthe for some reason.

Guys this has to be asked. What ever happened to eVilate?? Wasn't he one of the first to reach B-Spec Level 40?

I guess Stigy(WRXLENT) and danben7 got the best of him, top 3 in australia is tight though, but I hope those 2 make it though.

murQla Don't blame your bobs, any 40 bob can do well on any track with the proper guidance.

any tips for a nice italian guy? im very good at cooking. if someone help me, im gonna cook for you pasta and pizza for an year:sly:

Got up at 5am here to have a quick race or 2, try better times.. But no, Sony Playstation 3 in its infinate wisdom wants a software update!! It looks like its going pretty quick. I have a 4mb ADSL line and in all it will prob take 10 minutes.. Couldnt they have done it on Tuesday??

Yes, we know...!! And I can't wait! If I make it to there, I stand a good chance. I'm a far better driver in real life than what I am in any game. I drive hundreds of km every day... Yesterday alone I did 600km and I loved it.. I've been privileged to drive some really fast cars in my life including a Modded 330kw Lumina at a hill climb event.. So I for one am SERIOUSLY hoping to get through!

I finally got to L40!

Shame there are only a few days left :(

I see that the times haven't changed too much in my region, so hopefully I can get in on the action!

You guys do know that in phase 2 of the comp, you'll be put into real cars, right?

This. Man, the amount of secrecy in this thread rivals that of the F1 pre-season (that's not a good thing!)

The regional winners will most likely go here for the "Driving Event" mentioned on the Gran Turismo website.

EDIT: So yeah to win this competition outright and get the keys to a real life SLS AMG you need to be pretty handy behind the wheel...

...Which makes me wonder in the first place why an A-Spec challenge or two were NOT included for us competitors in the first stage. I see no problem in having two or three different disciplines for the first stage because I'm assuming that most of the people who purchased the signature edition are already long time Gran Turismo players.

If Kaz was really set on having the competition in B-Spec they could have at least done a multi-player championship to get rid of the A.I. opponent variable (details below):

  • Competitors play as team bosses.

  • They turn up to the S.E. competition lobby on a specified time each week until January 31, preferably on a weekend just like a real race day.

  • Championship format is with their Bobs on a knock-out style tournament similar to GT Academy North America until they find the top 32 in the country (in our case - top 16 in the region).

  • Top 16 then slug it out for the tickets to Germany with their Bobs, using pit strategies and in-race driver management to win.

I know there's a lot of other issues with this, the first one in my mind being how each race will be judged if say one Bob punts another one off the track (But Bobs are pretty solid anyway, the only time they go off is when they get pushed too hard on the wrong part of the circuit).

If PD and Sony decide to have another competition like this hopefully they'll take a good look at the issues associated with this one.

That'll be the easy bit :sly:

There's a reason the times haven't changed too much lately, and it's not because we are waiting for you :D

A friend of mine just confused me with who is actually able to win a trip to Germany.

The general consensus is that you have to be one of the top entrants in a region to win the first stage of the competition but he recently told me that if there's 2 trips up for grabs in a region with two countries then it becomes the top entrant for each country in that region

e.g. - top 2 entrants from UK and Ireland = top entrant from Ireland and top entrant from the UK get the trip to the Mercedes-Benz driving event.

Can someone please clarify and confirm the rules regarding who can win in the first stage? (just to make sure...)

Most participating countries will be joined together to form regions. The regions shall be as follows:

1.UK & Ireland – top 2 entrants
2.Germany & Austria – top 2 entrants
3.France & Switzerland – top 3 entrants
4.Portugal & Spain – top 2 entrants
5.Italy – top entrant
6.Finland, Sweden, Denmark & Norway – top entrant
7.Greece, Czech Republic, Russia & Poland – top entrant
8.Australia & New Zealand – top 2 entrants
9.South Africa, UAE & Saudi Arabia – top entrant

(each a “Region”). - https://eu.gran-turismo.com/gb/gt5signature/entry/specific_rules.html?lang=gb

Nah, the terms state:
"top 2 entrants"

Top 2 entrants per region or Top 3, or Top entrant per region.

i think it's pretty clear.

Yeah it looks pretty clear. If what you saying was the case I'm sure then that those 2 countries would then be their own regions. 3 days left now guys.. Good Luck!

I thought it was pretty clear also until my friend threw me that curve ball! He might've been just pulling my legs though. Anyway good luck to all still trying!

Feeling extremely disappointed about the competition being based on B-Spec and not skill. Oh well, to try and regain losses I will be offering my UN-USED Signature Edition code up for trading for:

Red Bull Livery X1

So, if you have this and are eager to enter, give me a PM, and I'll consider.

So from what i understand there is no point in entering the competition if your driver isn't in level 40?Can that be true??I'm asking cause i received today as a present a SE GT5 and i can enter tonight when i get back from work my codes, but my driver is only level 33.

No use, sorry. Also, the times are really fast at this point so you'd need more time too.

You never know lol. It might be worth a stab on the last 2 days if you can do one more Le Mans 24 Hour.

EDIT: If you are gonna go for it make sure to use just one driver for that race. That means the experience you earn will not be split up between a 2nd and/or 3rd driver so your level 33 bob will level up faster.

I'm at work and i just opened the SE case. The code in the wallet for the challenge was a pita to clean and see because of the bloody sticker they put there.Even now that i cleaned it i can't really make the second letter!!Anyway. Please tell me what kind of B-spec races are there to complete?Seeing the above post i got the impression that there is a 24h race there?I really hope not!!!!!!!Cheers!
Edit:Found the answer,5 races and the longest is 10 laps.Right?

Stuff like this piss me off. Skill can be measured in different modes, you know that right? there is skill in b-spec as well. It is so condesending to see this high-horse attitude where anything that does not involve swinging the wheel replica in your playseat is worthless.
I agree however that the competition should have an A-spec part of it, but oh well, I am sure one of the 15 that make it to the final is an awsome driver worthy of the car.

Right, that's it, I give up LOL

I've been on La Sarthe all day today and NONE of my Lvl 40 Bob's can go faster than 4:19.0xx.

I'm in front by the end of lap one easily, but once there, on laps two and three my Bobs just aren't fast enough. :(

might need a downpace at the indy corner. also, your laptimes for 2 and 3 might change if you do a faster lap 1....
Also you want to lead the race a bit earlier than by the end of it. a 4:20:1xx opener is possible.

The problem with this competition is two parted, first off you have to level up your driver, which is a huge waste of time, requiring no skill at all, just leave the PS3 grinding 24/7 for months.
Then comes the b-spec competition races themself.
With the limited information given about the b-spec mode and how it works, you basically have to figure it out on your on.
Start the race wait one second then hit "overtake"=fail
Start the race wait two seconds then hit "overtake=fail
Start the race wait three seconds then hit "overtake=success
Etc, etc, etc.

Then string a couple of thousand commands together in order to get a great lap, this may be fun for some people, but it hasn't got anything to do within a racing game.
When sony announced the "real driving simulator SE" would have an exclusive competition you would expect it to be driving related, wouldn't you ?.
They might aswell let the competition be a massive suduko challenge, would make just as much sense.

Ps. Hats off to Marxgorm and all the the other top players for laying down such a massive amount of work into this, you actually deserve a SLS for
figuring out the b-spec secrets :).

Of course it takes skill to go through to 2nd stage. It takes also time, but that it would have taken even if it was in a-spec.

I'm pretty much done with the competition, I just didnt have the time & the will to put all needed into this. The place in the top 2 will be very much deserved.. it takes hours and hours to do what the guys are doing on the top. 👍

Tbh, I much more would have liked to win this comp than say academy, but if it's not in you, you can't do it. Much respect from me anyway to the guys who will be on the top in the end of phase 1  👍
