I do not think so, I think it is a random roll for every driver @ every race what the AI stats are. there are more AI variations than colors avalable.
Edit: curses, a Finnish guy has beaten me @ Sarthe, seems like I have to race today after all :/ hoped it was over.

Finland in your region??

Finland in your region??

yup. sweden and dennmark too.
But improved .5 @ Sarthe now so it looks safe yet again'
Edit: make that .9 :) leading all my regional tracks and have a comfortable lead as well. and top 5 worldwide total.
Goodie, I think I am going to Germany.

Man... Hope it stays that way!!
I am not looking great..=(
Have been grafting hard at Sarthe for the last 6 hours and have been slowly improving my time. But still running in the 12,59xxx region.. Advice?

Here's the world leaderboards at the moment for everyone.

*snip*Worldwide Leaderboard photos*snip*

Marco Calvo (MakaayX) surely wanted that trip to Germany

It's pretty close in France as well. And they get 3 entrants to go?!? That's gotta be cheating!!!

Marco will be hell to beat in Germany :/ Don't like to race against people with race experience and training. Oh well :) My bet is on him to win the SLS unless there are clever ones who have registered on a friendly race-drivers name to win the car.

I think I read somewhere that Learner___Driver had a lot of iRacing and karting experience? I'm sure plenty of people there will make him work hard for the SLS. He drove Nissans @ GT Academy so it will be completely new for everyone ;)

It does not matter much for me really since I will be the worst driver there anyhow. :)

Damn, could've taken Tsukuba too but had to go to work. 2 hours to go and it's 9am here...

I wonder what the chances are that the 5 ppl above me dont have a passport...??

More than likely someone in the top entrants is a kid and doesn't have a full license... maybe? :boggled:

Also, how do you guys know so much about MakaayX? What experience does he have?
To be honest I think it will be 100% solo driving, more like training possibly with some lap times where you'll be instructed and then evaluated by a group of pros, I doubt it'd be racing or anything massively competitive, seems to me it'd be better to just go for fun.

Well guess what??!!??I tried to redeem the code one last time 1 hour ago when i got back from work and it did work!My email to SONY wasn't answered so i m sure they had nothing to do about it, so just a glitch??I don't know.Anyway,as predicted in an earlier post by HONDAndy and Max_DC my 33 Bob was only able to reach best 95th place in one of the challenges,in the othesr he's doing worse. What i have to say though is that if you run with the same driver the race again and again you get better places all the time.I'm not saying that if it worked last Friday i would have been now a winner but still i would have had the chance to try.Only good think i gained some cash and some exp for my Bob.Cheers!

Yeah the Mercedes Benz driving event is only going to be two days. GT Academy was five. Just youtube GT Academy 2010 and you can watch some highlights of what they did (Marco made it to the top 4 there).

You do not stand a snowballs chance in hell to compete with a level 33, even if you had 100 weeks you would not get within 20 seconds of the total time needed. so don't worry.
Also, bobs do not learn races as you run them, that is a myth and not accurate.

it is now 1:30Am and I am beat!! So tired.. Doesnt look like I am going to Germany. Not unl;ess the 6 or so ppl above me dont have drivers and passport..=))
Well done to all the guys that go through.. Man it was hard. U deserve it.. And dont let anyone EVER tell you it was easy compared to what it would have been if it was in A Spec mode. ********!!
To see the times being split by 1/100th of a second on a 13 minute race shows you just how competative and demanding it was. I am 700 hundredth of a second slower than the fastest in my region on Indy, and those 70 split seconds was the difference between 1st and 4th....!!

And Marxgorm,

I wish you all the best in Germany man.. You deserve it=)) Thanks for all the help.. Goodnight guys.. see you next time in A spec..!!

Sorry that you did not make it stang :( you gave it your best shot.

Congratulations to all that made it, I know that atleast some of the aussies that got spots frequent the forums.

I will be sure to take pictures and video and write a trip report for you all from the driving event. SO glad this is over now, it has been a demanding month and I am glad it payed off, however I am a bit disapointed by the level of competition in my region, I won by over 8 seconds total time and that is a bit too much.
and finally, hats off to the french people, you have owned this competition from day 1, sucks a lot that 2 of them will not make it. Top 6 overall has 4 frenchmen in it, that says it all.

Also thanks a lot to my bobs:
B.Strong - my first 40 bob and the first to set decent times, howver he got to the end of his career before I could use him properly, he was the bob with the greatest original stats so I wish he had lasted until I figured out the AI sets.
A.Whitehead, AKA. the Zit. third bob and the one that brought be to the top of the region and into the top 10 worldwide, he had 6 word records during his time and was the bob i played the most, he peaked around the 20th

S.Jones: the 7th bob, horrible stats and only ran him for fun at indy while I was waiting to yellow arrow whitehead one day and he ran a world record, since then he became my main driver, he had world records on Indy and High speed ring and is the bob who did all my current times.

B.spears: 6th bob, absolutely useless for good times, but was the bob that figured out the opening on a certain AI set on Indy and HSR.

Sorry to all that did not get their PM's answered, I tried to cover you all, but I had to be selective, especially sorry to you aussies, I recieved Pms from 7 different Australians/Kiwis, but I only tipped the original two who contacted me first.

There was the end - I gave up an hour before the time. Didn't take this seriously enough, and lvl'd my bob's too slowly and too late.

So, congrats Marxgorm winning my region. Trip report is A MUST!!!! ;)

Lost my ticket to Germany by 0.2 second. Thats really annoying to come third.

Congratulations to Guyfos and Chilvas who won in Eire/UK region.

im a total retard, i actually missed that tonight was the end time for competition, so im ****ed :D i was planning on using this night to get better positions, these were my rankings, tried like 6 on each 3 times with 2 diffrent bobs, race 5 i got 7th place on 1 try.

Well spent money to screw it up, when will total times be listed?

1st 23rd
2nd 36th
3rd 58th
4th 35th
5th 7th

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay :) :) I'm going to Europe :)
Beat DanBen by 0.1 secs :) :) :)

Looking forward to meeting Marxgorm and DanBen and any others over there. Well done to anyone who made it into the top times. We all know how hard we worked for it :)

Oh, and thanks to my bob, K. Yamauchi. I think his name was probably worth that tenth

Gday Guys. Signed on just to congratulate you guys on getting through. What a ride the last few weeks had been. Marxgorm, thanks for keeping the dream alive and inspiring me to keep mashing that "X" button. Would have given up long ago otherwise. Have fun in Europe boys! To the Aussie Stigssss... I want to see the car brought back to Austraila!!

Thanks TREX55. You were one of the late bloomers that DanBen and I had to keep our eyes on. Very good effort for such a late run. I think you made about 4th or 5th.

2,4,1,1,1 for me. The fourth was 0.2 off first. Things got tight in AUS/NZ towards the end.

Now we can all go back to A Spec and try and remember how to actually drive

Bets on how long we hear anything about the comp? I'm hoping by Friday.

Terms and conditions say up to 7 days.

So, while we're waiting, what driving experience do we all have? I know you've either got or had a WRX WRXLENT, I've been on a about 10 track days myself and some very amateur karting, but that's about it. Used to head out to Wakefield Park but I haven't had a chance for about 2 years now.

Congrats to the Aussie boys who made it through. You definitely have more patience than me!

WRXLENT... My wife kept telling me that we have to beat those Stig guys - so I kept trying (we have a 3 month old new born baby so staying up wasn't too bad - i got to check on him while the servers spent minutes loading each retry - the waiting was the worse part)

My "X" button is a bit sticky/worn out - and the PS3 was heating up our home for how many days continously. Not good in the two hot days.

Got lucky with my one of only 2 Level 40 drivers who suddenly seemed willing to pass that Ferrari / LFA one morning - so I got to lock away the first two races... but we never quite got that last 1 or 2 secs in the other 3.

Good luck and keep us posted on your trip! Hopefully your WRX skills will give you an edge at AMG track.

I hope you or Danben will bring the car home - but yes, Marxgorm gets my vote all the same for all his help here I think!!

Congrats to all who are heading to Germany, my 38 bob was never a real threat but I had fun collecting the cars and credits along the grinding way :)

I was surprised by my bob L.Bieber who was very aggressive and managed to snag me a 39th place in the reigion while only at level 36 on LeSarthe (last time I checked) on the first run...very honorable from a Bieber :sly:

I think I learnt more about this competition in the last 2 days than I have over the last month..!! I think in the end it was just time, maybe 2 more days I would have had it.. Last night I figured out/learnt things that started helping big time. In the end it was too much to late. Here my standing's.
1 4th
2 6th
3 9th
4 8th
5 5th

Think I trailed in the end by about 5 seconds...!!!! Not good.....!!

Was able to cut the time down in indy to 0.7 and last night sarthe to 1.5 trail.

Speaking of bobs, its funny how you grow attached to em.. I keep thinking that if I had of not retired my first bob maybe I could have used him. His career bar was half with 270 races 230 wins. My second bob, N Craig was my most accurate. His accuracy bar was just about full. I could push him the entire track without him making mistakes and he'd just keep going faster.

I for one am glad this is over. First time my PS3 has been off since last year. It took a while to turn off this morning, I thought it had maybe forgotten how=)
I'm looking forward to actually enjoying this game now... A spec racing and online races.

I am a new member to the forum, and like a few other ppl, I only joined for tips and hints on the comp. But along the way I have come to know u as great chaps that all share the same passion for GT5. I for one will surely be sticking around..

Marxgorm, WRX and Dan, a full update is a must. We want pictures, videos, anything u can share. Just not the stool sample from when u crap yourself due to 420KW=)

Congratulations guys!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations to Guyfos and Chilvas who won in Eire/UK region.

Brambi - well played that was seriously close between us - despite the fact we were way back from Guyfos and some of the other regions - at one point on Sunday our combined times were equal to the thousandth of a second. It took 20 hours of game play to get an extra 16 thousandths late on Monday night.

Considering I now feel like I 'understand' how B spec works - I find it very difficult to know how people like Guyfos were so much faster? perhaps all will be explained.....
