Bow to me!, I just made indy my bitch with my WORST driver. 4:55:6xx Edit: oh wait, improved it to 4:55:580
Finally, I do not have to do more ovals and Norway is back on top.
sorry for the attitude but I worked hard for that time and when it finally happened I think I woke the entire neighborhood up.
Probably clocked about 30 game hours since sunday and 90% of that has been loading screens and the first lap of indy :P.

no more ovals for bob! I do not care if anyone beats it, I am done with indy.
now I am gonna do a 5:58:xx on HSR.

damn, awesome time man, I don't think that'll fall.
By the way, how did you do 30 hours game time since Sunday? How do you fit it in with work?

So ummm I'm assuming everyone who's taking part in this thread has a full stable of level 40 bobs? Quite funny to see how many guests this thread sometimes attracts

full stable + 2x 40 drivers that have been deleted. and yeah I guess there are a lot of "guests" wanting tips in this thread :P

just an update, managed to get it working was my fault signed up with my old account email.

now let the fun/stress begin! any tips are welcome.

Hi guys 'n' gals,

I bought the signature edition of GT5 and have a code, but as seen as i have no driving license, its pointless me entering.

If anyone wants it, they can have it, in exchange for a Suzuki Dirt Trial Car (Or Nearest Offer).

I would usually give it away, but I just can't find one in the game anywhere :( i know it shows up in the dealership randomly, but i havent seen it.

Anyways, just feel that my code will go to waste and hopefully the person who wants it wins it :D

If u require it, add me on ps3. my id is: solidus512

Make sure to add some kind of message.

Thanks

Booked the 31st off work and got all of Sunday, and alot of Saturday free in case I can get near the top spot in time lmao, will only have a couple of lvl 40's with a few days to spare :(

Good luck man :)
finally managed a decent monza, 9:49:6xx, suppose that will suffice but the italian 9:48:9xx baffles me. Oh well, unless there is a nordic threat on monza I am not doing it again. moving on to tsukuba, in theory a 9:54:5xx should be possible.

Yeah I had to do this with one of my bobs last week since his temperament was too similar to another bob I had. Desperate measures need to be taken for this competition

Nicely done man!!

Nicely done man!!

I was messing around on Indy last night. Trying a few different starting strategies etc.. Managed to knock my time down to 4:57:9xx something, currently 5 in my region on Indy. The top guy is 4:57:15x.

I know I can beat that! Tell me, when you get the lead in the race what controls do you give your driver and where do you keep his bar?? Do you keep pushing him or do you rather keep him calm and maintain pace??

Also, am I correct in saying that unless you start the 4th lap with a time either on or below 3:00:00 (preferbly below) you are not on the pace.. Because even if u run to fast 58:5 laps on the 4th and 5th lap and u started the 4th lap on 3:02 you will then have a total time of roughly 4:59;xxx..SO to get down to a fast time of, say, 4:55:500 I NEED to start lap no 4 on 2:58:xxx... Correct?? Also, once you are in the lead, is 58:5 a good laptime??

My first lap is almost always a 1:02;500. At that piont I am no 5 heading down the straight with a woes R8 in my slipstream.. Ran a 101:9 once but it dont help to much, because then i come closer to the next train of cars than what i plan to.. Like Say the entrance to a corner and not the exit..

I have an unused code, and have no intention of using it, PM me if interested, I'll trade it off :).

Getting a bit late to sell it off  Less than 2 weeks left in the competition and that's barely enough time to get a Bob from 0 to 40. Let alone learn how to make him go past other AI cars as fast as possible.

EDIT: The code might still be worth something though...Didn't they mention that the sig. edition card was to be used for more than one competition?

sent you a PM with some hints, I am done commenting strategies in public due to the amount of guests this thread generates.
good luck :)

So how many of u are actually tired of this now???

Since I bought the game it has been a non stop b-spec grind. Currently have 9 000 000 credits and I only use money when I change oil and wash car. Then back into b spec race.. I love GT5 and so far I haven't even enjoyed this game yet. I want to win a Veyron, tune it,. Then race online.. But no, B spec is eating the days and setting in boredom. Poor PS3 hasn't been off for 4 weeks! I guarantee that if I were to drive in A spec mode now I'd suck.. Not once have I raced in A Spec.

As much as I want to place for the next stage of the competition, come the 1 February, regardless of if I made it or not, it is only then that I will start enjoying Gran Turismo 5.

I feel the same...
I tried it over and over.
But I can't get up at the leaderboard...it's fustrating!
Do anybody got good hints to get a little bit faster...
Pleaseeeee...!!! :-)

It's strange...everybody got the same car...there are no setups.
So I'm wondering that other gamers are faster that others.

Persistence and luck. Some times are painfully annoyingly fast though

I have finally got the hang of this contrived competition and am making huge progress. I chose a Bob called Montoya and trained him up hoping that he would overtake like Montoya did.... Turns out he is way more talented than my other driver. He is still on level 39 so there may be some hidden pace when he hits level 40 later today.

So now Im 2nd at Monza (9.52.7) in my region with time in pocket and only recently discovered how to activate his pace over a full lap. More difficult than I thought but still complete junk in terms of concept. What team manager tells a driver when to accelerate out of a corner? Do me a favor Kaz...

hey guys, i'm competing in this too, i'm from italy.
i started grinding my b spec diver than created other 4 drivers, but i concentrated most on the first driver now he is lv 36.
I have choosen different charachters from hot headed to cold hearted.
The first driver lv 36 is in the middle.
Please any hint to improve my times. I'm still 30-40th in my region
Thanks

Has anyone managed to set a personal best time with a really cool tempered driver?

my current world record time on indy is set with a max cool driver. Actually none of my drivers are over 70% hot.

powerdrome
Get your driver to 40, to compete at 36 will get you nowhere.

hehe glad to hear you are progressing, and the "trigger points" are set up a bit stupid sometimes, but its fair anyhow but not realistic.

Chris_Leeman
Trial and error, you get faster as you start to see patterns and how b-spec "works". every single one of my 8 drivers have clocked times within top 50 worldwide on all tracks, so it is not about lucking out with drivers. any 40 can do sub 4:56 on indy 6:02 on HSR, 9:50 on monza, 9:57:5 on tsukuba and 12:58 on sarthe. it boils down to just pure OCD by trying out everything and keeping ideas that work. Memorize your race patterns and execute them properly, noone can just "wing it" and expect a decent time.

Starting to feel confident of reaching the finals now and I hope to see some of those I have talked with during the competition IRL. Seems there will be atleast 5 forum-people there at this point. A bit early to start feeling confident, but I am leading my region with 13 seconds and most of the times behind me have not moved in days. Will do a push on sarthe and keep polishing Tsukuba for a total of 3 less seconds to my total, (bringing me about 6.5 seconds slower the theoretical best possible time) but after that I doubt I will push any more unless someone comes close. The competitive side of me wishes I was in the French region, by far the fastest overall region at this point in the competition.

The issue with really cool drivers is that they just struggle to overtake as quickly compared to say a mid-cool, neutral or a mid-hot tempered driver.

EDIT: Has anyone noticed that when you try to select commands it lags sometimes? I think I might have a fix for it. In network settings there's a clear system cache option and I always try to clear the cache so that there's less chance of the lag happening (figured it would speed up how the PS3 runs GT5 since it usually speeds up a p.c. if you free up some space in it).

it's when the music changes tracks?

hmmm dunno then, its not network lag though, nothing gets sent as far as im aware until you get back to the start/replay/quit screen
