I would be one I guess.. just got my 5th lvl 40 driver and tomorrow will have a full fleet :) Then I'll dive into this comp for two weeks, hopefully bob's & me are up to the task. (I've also seen lots of other familiar Academy names on the leaderboards..)

MakaayX is probably the one who stands out the most at the moment.. He made it all the way to the Silverstone top 4 didn't he?

If he gets the trip to Germany he'll be pretty hard to beat after all that training he received... If any Spanish GTP readers are reading this DON'T let Marco get to the finals for this!!!

Sure, and Ti-tech85 is competing also, but don't know the current standings @ France 👍 Big candidates for the Merc for sure.

Yes, you need to sign up on granturismo.com, enter your details and PSN ID, etc.

EDIT: The moderators thought it best to move this here...it was originally a thread on the b-spec forums designed to give some insight into b-spec game mechanics. I would never have written this here. Here it just becomes silly because most of you know this stuff already.

I'll delete this at the first request unless someone finds it useful...

Deleted by request (made people nervous). I guess that counts as an affirmation of most of my points ;-)

I have several comments on the above post, but I have decided to tone down my involvement with strategical discussion and public advice in this competition as I really really want that spot in the finals for myself. I will however continiue to offer advice/racescripts to the select few that have contacted me earlier in the tournament from other regions.
Good luck to all :) 2 weeks to go.
I will ofcourse add to the knowledge bin about B-spec when the competition is over, there are some techniques to improve your time and pace.

I understand fully. I'm really more interested in b-spec mechanics generally and not on 'how to win', but I see that they are to some extent one and the same. Anyone else got 50 cents to spare? And btw I'm rooting for you Marxgorm. The stuff you've shared already has been an inspiration. Seeing your name knocked off the top place made me say 'Oh No!!' ;-). Hope you keep us informed if you get past the first post, and even share your strategies when this is over.

Still in the overall reagonal lead though, but that swede above me on indy is quite annoying yes, at the moment I do not have drivers capable of beating that time, my bobs hate ovals. but hopefully I can take indy back to Norway before it is over.

If you do get the car.....can I touch it? ;-)

I am absolutely confident I will not win the car, with guys like MakaayX making it to the finals I have no chance whatsoever since my RL racing experience is pretty much zero. But If by some fluke I win this, I will let you drive it. :P

I have a question regarding "moods" of drivers, to my experience when the driver is yellow, he makes better overtakes and is able to pull off stuff that I just can't do when he is in the green or blue, but I get better solo lap times when he is in a blue mood, is this the case with anyone else? I want the best of both worlds damnit :P on tsukuba / sarthe I pull better times in the blue while on indy/HSR/Monza I do better in the yellow. weird.

I'll test it at the next opportunity.

I can guarantee the mood of the driver does not matter at all. I've tested this, as long as your inputs are timed the exact same, your driver will perform the exact same, and your lap times will be the exact same, regardless of their mood and colour. To be honest I don't know what the point of the arrow is.

This happened to me once, after I had put in times on several occasions before. After I quit back to the GT Life main screen and re-entered, it worked again. Hope this helps.

Sometimes, after an endurance race, I need to restart the game to get access to the challenge again.

yea got the confirmation email. i will try flipping back and forth see if it lets me in, have tried a good few times though.

I have to disagree with this. When the arrow is yellow the driver is more likely to make mistakes - I find this means he will go for overtake moves he wouldn't under a blue arrow - he can then get past but is likely to make contact with the other car while doing so.

Also on a clear track with identical commands - blue arrow is definitely quicker - albeit by very small margins - if you write your sector times down it is easy to get times in each sector every time you do a race that are identical to one thousandth of a second in clear traffic. When the status of your driver changes - the split times change.

I agree with chilvas on the matter, danben you have to remember in your testing that the state your driver is in is locked when you enter a track, so if you swich from yellow to blue without reloading the track, you are still racing yellow. retry your tests by reloading the track from menu and I am sure you will find that he drives quicker on blue (.1-.4 seconds pr lap on indy on average) but on yellow he screws up more, but that includes crazy overtake moves that sometimes work.
I feel pretty confident in stating this as I have ran the first lap of these sls comp tracks over 1000 times now and I have studied it a lot. Yellow will get you to first quicker than blue with the same commandset, But overall I think the fastest possible times will be done with a blue arrow due to the solo laps you do at the end.

This competition is such a lottery lol. So many different variables to take into account.

I thought it was gonna be A-Spec based challenges combined with photo-mode or something (they did mention "points" that were gonna be added up during the first stage).

If P.D. had done that instead of 5 timed races with GT5's under-developed A.I. the game and the car they're trying to promote probably would've received a lot more exposure and interest.

Imagine having to upload a pic of the SLS AMG and the photo that receives the most number of votes receives a set amount of points followed by some driving missions similar to the ones they're gonna have in Germany and throw in a B-Spec challenge or two for good measure.

I don't know what else to say about what they were trying to achieve with this competition...

Marxgorm, how do you plan on paying the 1.27M NOK fee to get the AMG on the road? :D

I do not plan on winning the car, but I will probably pay with money. and its 20% more, you forgot moms. so its roughly 1.6million total in taxes. And if I am unable to raise that kind of money, there are always test plates to run it on without registering it, or in worst case scenario it could be a nice flowerstand outside my house.
