Took wheel back they were absolutly sound about it and wasnt aware of it (yes sticking pedals) so now what? theres no way im paying £150 for a used G25 or £229 for a G27 or £165 for a porcshe 911 GT3 RS wheel with no gear stick!
Luckily the pad isnt at a big disadvantage with this time trial, still got time to come, current .537 i lost about .25 in the double left handers but for the finals (presuming i do make it) i need wheel practice, well i guess i still have around 2 months.

If you chose not to fix/buy a wheel, the only thing you're going to be missing out on is wheel practice in the lead up to the national finals, because without a doubt you've cemented a place in the top 20 with your outstanding time:tup: I should be able to run the qualifier (If I can create a fake account, I highly doubt that it will work as they will surely detect that my IP address is half the circumfrence of the Earth away from UK:dopey:)

Without wheel practice i will have no chance in my opinion.... unless they set up a pod with a DS3 hahaha.
Na i will buy a wheel soon just finding one at a good price, not keen on buying another used one after yesterday.

Edit-Just seen a G27 for £191 Excluding VAT (my brother is VAT registered) so for that i think i might get it cant see it geting much cheaper anywere in the next 6 months.

Do you think that 2:17.5xx will be good enough to secure a place in the nationals already? I think everyone will be at that in a few weeks time. :scared:

I think personally that the fastest time will be a 16.8, and that to qualify in the UK a 17.5 will be the limit of qualification. Although GTP_DHolland has better experience of knowing :P. But personally a 17.5 would definitily be the verge of qualifying. As i've noticed people are already struggling to improve their times already.

Some more practice today for me hopefully get my insane lap that I was on yesterday :). Nail the first sub 17 perhaps :embarrassed:!?

Any luck GTP_DHolland btw on getting a go at the Academy? I know a friend who has a british account and managed to have a go, he's in Canada.

Wasn't even going to bother with it this year, but seeing as the pads have a fairer chance this time around, I might have a crack...saying that, just put in a dismal 2:25...any suggestions on setup? Got ASM and TC off with CS at 7 at the mo...

hi markyboy. 2 weeks a go dabs were giving away G27's at £199. Maybe there are more deals like that elsewhere on the net. Don't go on dabs now its up to £265.

last year 4 - 5 tenths separated the top 20 so it could be close to that alright.

I still believe they are adding a new car or new car track combination on March 18th. 6 weeks is a long time to have this thing running when people are already getting close to their limits.

My time at this time is 2:17.118, and I can pass on the first sector 0.3s faster so 2.16.8 is very real:)
The track is very difficult technically, and making the perfect lap is almost impossible but we still have several weeks to improve their times so who knows maybe we can do 2.16.7? :) I'm optimistic: D

I think 18th March is for the start of the Italian GT Academy? I've probably only got about 0.3 left in me.

It should definately work as there are many people who create accounts in multiple countries to access different PSN stores. If you do create an UK account, include something like Ferrarisucks, you will know why I say this if you look at the top of the leaderboards and I know you don't like Ferrari that much ;).

Just checked the rankings to find the fastest time with a Pad and it was crazy-legs971 from france with a 2:17.382

Agree there it also might explain why we all suddenly turned American a few days ago :P, reusing code perhaps :P?

👍 Great spot. I have also got a few theories that point to it.

- The last European academy had two times combined
- The current American academy has also been doing it
- It says GT Academy Rd. 1 on the menu screen
- Italy can't play until March 18th. Why? Maybe they get both combinations starting that day?
- 6/7 weeks is WAY to long for one track where people are already reaching their limits

I also get the feeling that the second car will be the GT-R that was a gift for entering the Academy - the track will more than likely be another created one.

I wonder can Synwraith shed any light on this 💡

Dan.. Do you not have the same TT in the seasonal events? I know the US guys did.. Not sure about Aus and the other non eligible countries.. 👍
.

Can someone check this?

Also tidgney.. Don't be so sure about peeps struggling to improve their times. Remember psn was down for most yesterday. I took a tenth and a bit off last night on my 3rd lap. :)

.95 seperated the 20 qualifiers from last year if i remember correct (25th made it).
Id say now a 17.5 would be more than enough to qualify in england, going by i cant see 24 (maybe more) able to do that time or better.
Just wasted a .2 lap going into the last sector after a .1 T1, will try again later.

Very true with those points, but ye generally I was thinking 6 weeks is along time on 1 track so definitely agree on that one.

Just to let you know for those struggling I've made a GT Academy 2011 tutorial, please check this post for more information :).

Great videos, thanks for this! I think this is what I need (currently at 2.19.6 on a in-lap) to improve. I never check the speed I'm going, my breaking points are also not consistent. Basically, I drive more on "feeling". There are some very good tips in this video that will help my consistency.

Well I just made it back into the top 10 so happy days for the moment :), but more importantly where is this new player at the top, KronicGT after coming from?

Nice time Des, yeah kronic just appeared today, I think there could be even more people just appearing at the top soon enough judging by the leaderboards from last years gt academy :embarrassed: there is a few names we havent seen yet

Hopefully not too many for our region anyway :scared: EDDSKILL is the only major one left I think?

How are you getting on? No improvement yesterday? I find long stints aren't a good idea, just play for 20 minutes and break and come back. You can still get plenty of hours in that way. I've improved a over a tenth or two everyday but it's going to become less and less now as the time comes down.

Perhaps kronic is edd :)?

On another note I decided to have a look at another ghost which I haven't done so in several days, damn that last sector :P. Once I nail that, I nail the leader board :D.

My consistency is nice now though, constant 17's :).

Now at a 2'17.488 its get harder to improve but theres definatly some more left if i can be more consistant.
Today i did best sector 1 & 2 times T1-.917 then a .141 T2 with a (0.18 T1) but linking it together is another thing....💡

My guess Kronic is Dan holland (markwebber) or Timpaq or yeah maybe EDDSKILL or oldbeanee. Maybe even Carlpky etc could be alot of people thinking about it that are capable of that time.

Just noticed Mato (polish) has been the first person to make a 2'16! Nice 1!

Not me, but thanks for the nice thought! Probably will skip this academy alltogether and gather spirit for the next one that hopefully will land Finland someday 👍

Great time Mato!!

I just got my wheel set up, but can't touch my pad time yet, I haven't used my wheel since the last GT academy and it shows. I'm a week behind everyone else so it's going to be hard to catch up. I'm getting 2'20.2xx after a few laps and finding it hard to go faster, I'm hoping I can at least beat my pad time. What kind of times were people getting at the start of this?

Hey guys, wishing you all the best in this 👍

Thought you might want to see the ntsc board, not sure if it's viewable on the playstation web page or not.
