Hey guys, wishing you all the best in this 👍

Just checked the rankings to find the fastest time with a Pad and it was crazy-legs971 from france with a 2:17.382

How it is this possible?

I drove a 2:22:6xx. I thought I improve my time today, but I can`t beat my own time!

I think I am at the limit with the pad.

yes its possible... I just made a few attempts and i got 2:20:0xx... Next weekend i will try to improve to 17' :)

I sat down for a proper session tonight to find the whole thing open up and just click. Tenths were magically appearing, it's a nice feeling!

No idea how you guys are doing those pad times. Epic stuff!

Hi guys,

Been trying this challenge so much, im on a 2:20:6 (think 265th uk/ireland) with DS3 and automatic gears, from what im reading thats actually ok despite being 3 seconds off the lead??

I reckon at some point I could get into the 19s just but no way any more than that!, is it possible?

Currently using TC as 1, and controller sensitivity all the way up to 7. Struggle with the final part of the track majorly!

Any ideas to get those extra tenths?

Cheers :D
Chris

Well, what can i say, i'm now starting to shave a few seconds, i started today by defining my own line and braking points, and i only stick to them, there is straight simple, i follow them and not driving by what i thought, with this i started today with a 2:19:840 and ended today with 2:18:921.
I hope i can continue to imporve like this, cuz i belive i'm skilled enough to reach the top guys, altough this is my first time at gt acad.
Hope you guys the best, and i'm trying my best to make portuguese go to the national finals, i belive that meagainstyou is now by far confirmed to that event.

PS: quick question, by "Race Camp" they mean only silverstone or that include the national finals?

Consistancy is my problem, I think I need way more laps, Currently doing 2.19s but not consistantly :grumpy: also I think my own ghost is putting me off and taking me out of the zone.

Is there any way to turn your ghost off so it doesn't appear at all?

Also Dantastic is doing an amazing job, as soon as someone passes him for first he takes it back

I just got my wheel set up, but can't touch my pad time yet, I haven't used my wheel since the last GT academy and it shows. I'm a week behind everyone else so it's going to be hard to catch up. I'm getting 2'20.2xx after a few laps and finding it hard to go faster, I'm hoping I can at least beat my pad time. What kind of times were people getting at the start of this?

Just keep at it and have a look at Tidgney's guide (he posted it earlier in this thread) - i'm hoping it will get me into the 17's as i'm definetly making a balls of the cork screw :dunce:
If i don't find some tenths soon i think i'll go mad :)

Up arrow toggles the ghost on and off

Looking at the dutch leaderboard, even I can make the top 20! shame I'm not dutch though.

Yes, it's the least competitive leaderboard. On the other hand.., it's by far the smallest country in the competition. I don't get why PD didn't make a Dutch/Belgian league.

Ireland is the same. We are very uncompetitive as a country. Only one or two players other than myself are in with a shot of staying in the UK top 20. Still, glad I'm not in Spain or France. It's wayyy too competitive :scared:

Still..., no way I 'll be in the Dutch finals :sly:
I think I can do a 2:20 (DS3).., that would be around 75th.
Good luck on the UK boards 👍

I best get on with it hardly did any yesterday as it was a league night :P.

Well it seems the tutorial has helped a fair few people so I'm glad to hear it!! :). If anyone has any other questions by the way as I said on the video, feel free to contact me I don't bite :).

I can see 2:16's with a pad though, so pads are at little/no disadvantage at all, I feel i can be just as smooth with a pad, although most of that was from the x2010 pre-patch lol, that trained me a lot with sensitivity.

I beat my pad time last night by .5 a second, so happy I'm seeing improvement after 1 day. I'm nearly in the 18s now.
Is anyone else unable to load up ghost replays? I just get a message saying no ghost data available, but I do have ghost replays and I even tried to download one off the leader boards and that doesn't work either.

I'm struggling a lot to make the left corner right after the 1st sector, its getting me nuts, i can keep up with the fast guys at all track but in that corner i'm losing way much time.
Hope i can keep improving.
Why did Pd, this year, made regions together?, i see it as a bit unfair, contrys such portugal and UK shouldn't go with much bigger contrys, if you see, its very competitive in the leaderboards, both have drivers in the top 20, but "fighting" with bigger countrys is not that fair as if each contry had ther own region, and only one driver from each region would go to silverstone, with the actual regions, there is a BIG possibility of two drivers of the same country can go to silverstone. I don't see this as a "nicely done" by PD but still i'm happy that GT acad came soon.

I don't think PD are the ones who choose the regions etc. Would think it would be SCEE.

I don't know who it is, i was just saying PD cause i belive they have some influence in the region choose process, am i right?

Yea they could have have a say as well.

We still haven't seen iplume or echoes on UK board yet. Expect them to be super quick!

I definitely better get pushing then :P. I'll be streaming all my attempts from now on :).

Just a heads-up for anyone interested in some expert advice from those who have succeeded before, gran-turismo.com have uploaded my interviews with previous Academy winners Lucas Ordonez and Jordan Tresson from last week on their website:

- (10/03/11) [GRAN-TURISMO.COM] Q&A with previous winners Lucas Ordoñez and Jordan Tresson

...as well as the "Play Like A Pro" feature I wrote based on their interview responses here:

- (10/03/11) [GRAN-TURISMO.COM] GT Academy: Play Like A Pro!

The interview transcripts are Sony's own edits, my version of the edits should appear on the GT Academy Facebook not too long from now.

It was really heartening to see how much time Lucas and Jordan both still had for me and the community despite being bona fide racing drivers now. 👍

I've added both links to the GT Academy News and Announcements thread on this forum along with the other articles I've done so far on their behalf:

All the best
