Okay, so it's time for another night of fun racing. We have already dealt with Suzuka and Autumn Ring, this time we'll take on Laguna Seca!

As always everyone is welcome - especially newer drivers. Driving aids are allowed.

You will be racing 25 laps of the Laguna Seca Circuit (followed by more shorter races) on Monday 28 March at 9.30pm GMT. But there will also be a practice race session on Sunday 27th March at 9pm GMT (in a different car than the one we will be racing Monday). All GTP members welcome to this.

Room opens on Monday at 8.30pm for practise/qualifying.

The race will be held in my lounge, so add me if you haven't done so already. My PSN nick is despawn, and please write Fun Racers in the subject.

You will not know what car you are racing until you join the room, though I can tell you it won't be an uncontrollable monster. Laguna Seca is quite a technical track, so the car will be manageable.

The car will be ready to pick up in the garage at 8.30pm. All you need to do is choose the color and tyres.

There will be no points awarded, but there will be a prize car to the winner (haven't decided which car I can live without yet...).

Edit: I have decided on The prize car: Mercedes-Benz SLK 230 Kompressor '98. Straight out of the UCD, it's run 5247 km with its 201 bhp. A stylish (or tacky, you decide) greenish paint: Vivanitgrün. Only the 90s could give us such a paint. Will upload pics in a minute.

Please try to drive as clean as possible. But don't be too worried about the odd bump, eh?

Banter while driving is more than welcome, so get a headset.

Please post below if you are interested, even if you are already a member of the club, and/or have raced before. A few is good but the more the merrier.

Relax and Enjoy!

Come join the Fun Racers Club for a fun and relaxed online experience

Good track choice! Im in for next weeks race.
And porsche takes out the corvette again...
Sad to see the ferrari get taken out in the mix also.
12 hours of sebring 2011

As far as a prize car goes...I have an extra f40 in my garage that I can offer up to the winner. Ive been giving a lot of duplicate cars and stuff ill never drive away recently. If Despawn cant find a car to part with, i will gladly offer that up as a prize.

Hi Despawn....can you put me down too pls :)

sorry I missed last night guys, broadband was down :(

Can I suggest to the group for next monday...

a) heavy penalties....to penalise accidental but careless 'shunting'...

b) less warm up time (45 mins)...longer race (25 laps) so we are forced into doing a pit stop at some point (interesting tactical stuff could go on there)...Laguna is a bit longer than Autumn but has less corners so I am guessing similar tyre wear per lap...20 laps may be not enough to force a tyre change but you can't go 25 without a change...unless you choose sports intermediates......?!?!

Thoughts?

a)
I dunno, I think the heavy penalties tend to be over the top. You sometimes get penalised for something you had no fault in. Plus the whole "being able to drive right through other cars" just seems stupid... in my oppinion.
People just have to get their "gentleman-racer-attitude" on :sly: (and If I'm one of those people you refer too, I apologize... and feel like a fool now :dunce: )

b)
I'm definitely up for that :)

Maybe we should have a Fun Racers endurancerace some time. Two hours around Nür. with weather/time change :)

I´m up for the 25 laps (or more :D)
but the heavy penalties thing, we should have a look at it, but i think that we have to drive as fair as possible and keep it fun and not too seririous.

Glad I'm not the only one loving this track. Not too long straights, quite technical, but not difficult.

I'm not too sure about the penalties. I always try not to run into others, and that makes me quite slow once behind. But I'm not sure this is the right group to introduce heavy penalties to, as this is supposed to be more about the fun and less about the who's the best/fastest/smartest/whatever driver. Am I right? I'm up for giving it a go, though.

250 GTO: The «driving through other cars»-thing is dangerous. If that car becomes normal right before you're about to go through it... I try to go around, no matter what. Again, making me slow...

Oh, and one more reason I'm not too sure about heavy penalties: I got my Bass Shakers today, so now I love crashing. The whole seat shakes, what a way to make the game come alive!

I'm more convinced about the 25 laps-idea. I like it, and if nobody has strong feelings otherwise I think we'll do just that. Start the race at 9.15 PM, and run 25 laps. All in?

Yeah do like this track...especially the corkscrew..that feeling of up and over is pretty cool....and that clip you posted despawn did make our tussle seem rather....lame...:)

The idea of using 'heavy penalties' wasn't a move to make it more serious....it is not important who is the 'best', but that we all have fun....it was just to maybe make us a tad more cautious that's all.....light penalties does penalise blatant short cut taking so lets stick to that and drive 'like a gentleman'....happy to go with the majority.... :)

25 laps could be (even more 👍)fun though.....pit stops??? Well I never.....:boggled:

I'm hoping for a better showing on this return to Laguna Seca, lord knows last time I ran this track I was decimated. Sorry about missing you guys the other day. Drama happened and I just lost track of time.

25 laps, that'll be real nice. You know, looking back to Suzuka Surprise...it feels as if we're evolving into an actual race series. What started out as a couple of misfits, looking to have fun group of dash races outside of the serious series is started to become a big series with longer races and pit stops included.

Yeah man....soon we will be calling ourselves the 'best ever' racers...driving blindfold in reverse around that long German track with millions at stake mocking all those that play just for fun....:):)

Cool..count me in.....work permitting.

Any clues on what cat peramiters are? HP/Drive/weight/tyres?
I know its soposed to be suprise, but need to test out some tactics.

Laguna has long..ish pit lane too, so hence need to know what type car using.

Thanks.

Haven't decided on the details yet, don't want to give myself an unfair advantage, I guess. But it will probably be a not too powerful FR car. Nothing's decided, though, so don't place any money on it yet.

🤬 Not gonna make it tonight. TV been taken over due to watching F1 this afternoon.
Hope to make race tomorrow tho.
Doing some remote racing in the mean time.:)
