The Indy 500-Presented by ASRA - Winner-OWENS RACING!(Video hilights in OP)

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway, located in Speedway, Indiana in the United States, is the home of the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race, the Brickyard 400 and the MotoGP version of the United States Grand Prix.
It has existed since 1909, and is the original Speedway, the first racing facility historically to incorporate the word. With a permanent seating capacity for more than 257,000 people and infield seating that raises capacity to approximately 400,000, it is the largest and highest-capacity sporting facility in the world.
Considered relatively flat by American standards, the track is a two-and-a-half-mile, nearly rectangular oval with dimensions that have remained essentially unchanged since its inception: four 1/4-mile turns, two 5/8-mile long straightaways between the fourth and first and second and third turns, and two 1/8-mile short straightaways, termed "short chutes," between the first and second, and third and fourth turns. Placed on the National Register of Historic Place in 1975 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987, it currently remains the only such landmark to be affiliated with automotive racing history.

The Formula Gran Turismo is an IndyCar/Formula-1 style car designed by Polyphony Digital. It first appeared in GT4, then in GTPSP. It appears as a Standard car in GT5 and can be found in the Used Car Dealership and sometimes in the Online Car Dealership.
The Gran Turismo Formula Gran Turismo is available from 4 sources in Gran Turismo 5.
▪ It is available through the used car dealerships at around 4.6 to 4.8 million, However, the Formula Gran Turismo does not appear regularly in the dealership so it is quite rare to find one of these there.
▪ It can also be found in the online car dealership whilst on the PSN at around the same price as the price in the used car dealership. Fortunately, the Formula Gran Turismo frequently appears in this dealership and has so far been ever-present since the inception of the Online Dealership (update 1.05).
▪ Completion of the Endurance Series in either A-Spec or B-Spec awards a Level-24 Gift Car Ticket. The Formula Gran Turismo is, as yet, the only Level 24 car in the game, so each of these tickets will award a FGT.
▪ The Formula Gran Turismo can be obtained from a 1000 Ticket, however, since this a random award, there is a very small chance (1 in 1031) of acquiring a FGT by this method. The Formula Gran Turismo cannot be won from a Birthday Gift Car Ticket since, unlike most other cars, it doesn't have a year attributed to it.

Qualifying:
The 2 Hosts/Stewards get automatic entry, the final 14 spots will be decided through official Qualifying Sessions which will be held everyday for the week preceding the race. There will be an open room and each driver will get 1 qualifying run that will consist of 4 laps. A 4 lap race will be started with 1 car on the track at a time, the first lap is your warm-up lap and the next 2 laps are your hot laps, the last lap is your cool-down lap. The 2 hot lap times will be averaged and that will be your qualifying time.

Bump Day
The top 9 drivers will be locked into those grid spots and on Saturday, May 21st (day before the race) we will hold a Bump Day. The slowest 5 times recorded throughout the week will be available to be "bumped" by a faster time (should one be set). Each driver will get 1 qualifying run during the week, the slowest 5 drivers may have a second run on Bump Day. The final starting grid will be posted here after Bump Day has been concluded and we will do a "manual grid line-up" on Race Day according to qualifying times.




The Race:
This will be a full distance 500-mile race, 200 laps around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Pit Stops will obviously be mandatory, but how many each driver makes is up to them, there is no minimum number or pit stops required. Damage will be FULL/HEAVY, if a driver makes a mistake or hits the wall he/she will have to pit for it to be fixed. Penalties will be OFF so we will not have lapped cars being "ghosted" as that would defeat part of the purpose of this race. Track Edge Grip will be REAL. All AIDS will be disabled except for ABS. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 finishers and the winners name will be added to the Online Racing Triple Crown.

All interested drivers will add their name to the Registration List. Before Qualifying week we will set up times for Hot Lap rooms to be opened so everybody can get a chance to turn in their times. I made a minor update to the Qualifying format. We will actually only be qualifying for 14 spots total as the 2 Hosts/Stewards will be occupying 2 of the 16 available spots. We will still turn in Hot Laps like everyone else and line-up accordingly. So the top 9 will be locked in and the slowest 5 will be "on the bubble" for Bump Day. 👍

Hard to say without being able to see what lap times are with online physics, but I'm expecting about 2-2.5 hours. With offline physics my lap times are a little under 40 seconds which is pretty much the exact lap times the real cars run. The real race takes about 2.5 hours. Before figuring in pitstops my calculations for our race is 2.2 hours. We're figuring approx 4 pitstops will be necessary for the race and those will add a few minutes so we should be right around 2.5 hours or a little under.

My shoulders are healthy and after about 40-50 laps of practice they start getting sore, so I'm afraid your bum shoulder might not fare too well.
The race is almost 3 weeks away though, so hopefully you'll have plenty of time to rehab?

We plan to have several 40-50 lap practice races in the weeks leading up to the race that everybody is welcome to participate in. As long as the PSN is back up soon there should be plenty of opportunity to get some practice done. So even if you don't qualify for the big race on the 22nd you'll still have chances to do some open-wheel racing at (arguably) the most famous race track in the world! I'll add you to the list if you're interested.
