I usually spend around 15-45 minutes on each car, record is 1 hour and 12 minutes though, for the NSX-R =P But speaking of tunes:

Man. If I were to pick one car in the whole world, from any time, that I have the most respect for, it would be this. And GT5 has not changed my opinion of that. I intentionally left out parts that change the sound of the engine. But if you want it bone stock, the tune works just fine. 3.5 seconds slower around the ring, and 3 of those seconds were lost on the back straight due to lack of power. That's 0.8% slower. So nothing that noticeable, and certainly not when you're actually driving.

I tried many, many settings in an attempt to get rid of the godforsaken understeer. This is as close as I got. It's still there, but to a lesser extent. Some of the other tunes were faster, but this one won't give you a bout of catastrophic understeer that could ruin your race.

A mini (pun not intended) Lotus Elise. That's basically what this is. But don't treat it like one, I beg of you. Or you will not like it. No matter what it's like, it's still a little 190 HP, front-powered car from the 70's.

It's an FF. It will understeer. And will continue to do so until we can change the laws of physics. Just so you are aware. But if there's 1 thing I could give this car, out of anything, it would be a 6th gear. Really.

Review of Honda Civic Type R '08 tuned by JG's tune shop

The four door Honda Civic is already pretty fun to drive out of the box, but of course it is lacking a few of the essentials such as power and handling. I asked for this tune yesterday because I had a go at tuning the Civic and it didn't turn out the best considering I used a Honda Civic EK RM tune XD, so that's why I turned to JG for help (He tuned the car very quickly!). When I first drove the newly tuned car it felt almost the same at first but it did seem to handle a lot better in the corners with a lot less under steer than before with my tune. The car does still experience some under steer and tire burning when exiting the corners at times but what can you expect from a FF Civic with 421 HP @ 350 miles. All in all this tune is a very good in my opinion with very little faults but if you can't handle a FWD with a lot of power you might want to avoid this car. I greatly appreciate the tune as I have used other ones such as the Ford Focus and Honda CR-Z which have been very good ones! I know you probably have a lot of requests for cars to tune and you've just got done with 5 brand new tunes but some time in the future I would like it if you could tune a RUF Yellowbird. 👍
 
Here is my review of the FD2.
The car isn't built to the exact specs that JG has provided, so it may not perform exactly as JG has intended. The main reason for this is to test out the suspension setup and compare it to another FD2 that I have. Both cars are equipped with the same engine upgrades and weight is kept as close as possible to provide an even test field for the suspension and LSD setups.

I've tested both of these cars on the Tsukuba Circuit and the Nurburgring.
Sports Hard Tires were used for both cars in this test.


First a little review on my FD2:

Having driven my FD2 for over 2000km, I can say that I am quite familiar with this car's characteristics and how it performs on various tracks. It is a car that prefers smooth inputs and will run fast laptimes when driven on the correct line. Here is a small summary of the good and bad parts of this car.

Good
- Looks amazing :D
- Strong brakes and minimal instability during hard braking.
- Fairly neutral handling when driven smoothly and on the right line.
- Minimal understeer when accelerating out of corners.
- Stock LSD helps reduce inner wheelspin at corner exits.
- Stock spoiler :drool:

Bad
- Handling characteristics tend to be on the understeer side.
- Trail-braking doesn't do much to coax the rear of the car to assist the car in turn in.
- Corner entry feels a bit slow.
-Tends to overheat outer front tire.
- A bit of instability at high speeds
- Stock spoiler (none/too little downforce) :yuck:

Quite a lot of bad points but I admit I'm not a good tuner. :sly:


Ok... now on to JG's tune

First impression is that the understeer has been reduced quite a bit and the car responds faster to driver inputs. Most of the bad points from my car has been corrected but some small side effects have also appeared.

Good
- Looks even better with the carbon hood. :D
- Brakes still feel as strong and is capable of stopping the car very quickly.
- Neutral handling characteristics.
- Turn in response has been sharpened up and the car now responds instantly to inputs.
- Instability at high speeds is gone and is now replaced with balanced handling with a tiny bit of understeer (a good thing at high speeds)

Bad
- Trail braking still doesn't work to get the rear helping with turning.
- Front feels a bit unstable when it encounters bumps while accelerating out of a corner and the wheels can start slipping.
- Tends to overheat outer front tire.
- LSD is set a bit too loose as the inner wheel can spin when accelerating out of tight corners and sweeping turns.
- The looks of the GT spoiler. :ill:

There was a bit of time differences between these cars but its not a big one. I wouldn't say for certain which car is faster because I maybe able to drive faster on my own car because I am more familiar with it. I am pretty sure that with a bit more practice on JG's tune, the time differences will reduce but here are the times at the moment.

Tsukuba Circuit:

FD2 Civic Type R - 1:05.6xx
JG Civic Type SR - 1:05.8xx

Nurburgring

FD2 Civic Type R - 8:05.1xx
JG Civic Type SR - 8:06.5xx

Afterthought: Trying this tune has caused a dilemma to appear before me. Whether to install a wing or not. It has proven to be very helpful in correcting this car's instability at high speeds but I just like the looks of the stock spoiler too much. :lol:

Overall I would give this tune a 8.5/10. 👍
This car has a bit of a unique character and may not be one of the fastest FF there is, but it is this that I love about this car. :)
 
o.O Thanks for the review guys. Supermelon, I owe you a tune =P Crazed_Coupe, no. I have... Bad experiences with the Yellowbird =P

Also, Supermelon, the fact that you used Sports Hard instead of Sports Soft may also have had an impact on the performance of teh tune. Just saying.
