While we wait for our banger, Anyone think we need a progressive spring set up for clutch? Maybe design a longer pedal for more throw. Then have ability to set the break away or release when depressing. Mmmmm I am dreaming here but man I love to have a good clutch feel with an extended throw.

Basically I am seeing a spring that depresses in so far progressive then when it reaches a pressure or so point in travel it releases pressure and pushes on down like a real clutch. Boggling the brain on how this feat could be engineered. This type of clutch would be the next step. So I think.

Anyone got ideas? Throw them out here. Maybe we can design something here.

Initial thoughts are long throw solenoid with adjustable voltage so off engagement it increases voltage adding tension then once it travels so far all voltage stops and only spring there. This be clutch pressure plates relase and engagement point. Take a potetmeter of sort and variable pressure solenoid. One we can over ride. Wait air piston or actuator maybe. Or the magnetic ride used in shocks to increase their ability to be compressed. Valves with little decomp. Hmmmm

The clutch definitely needs some kind of mod.......Theirs no real feeling at all. Think your the man for the job. If you come up with something, will it be going into production? I'd certainly pay for an upgrade.........Once the shifter is released.

So now I have a minor problem. You know those 6 bolts around the center of the wheel around the GT logo? Well one of them has gotten loose which cause my wheel rim to be loose and makes it more difficult to press the buttons. I emailed support to find out what tool I need to tighten the bolts. :ouch:

Just seems odd they didnt include the tool in the box. Owens you got any ideas?

Btw, yeah I used to use a heavy duty clutch in my Ford mustang. Only problem I had was day-to-day driving if I got stuck in traffic I would regret switching out my clutch lol

Debating on whether I want to mod this clutch

Just use a simple allen key. You can get a set of them in any hardware store for a few dollars. They come in handy for all sorts of jobs, so it won't be a waste of money to buy a set either.

Only three of those six actually hold the wheel to the base.

I am not sure size off hand. I had both metric and standard Allen wrenches. Grab you a cheap set at the Wal Mart or similar and tighten them up. Go easy. It appears to be all plastic. Hoping the stubs on base are mold plastic around metal insert of sorts. Anyway I went gentle.

There is a series of small Phillips on the back side of inner wheel. Rotate wheel and snug these up as well. Few of mine were loose.

EDIT: tree'd by above. Hahaha

I'm used to playing with low ffb nowadays. FFB was insanely strong on gt5. I'm going turn my ffb down to like 3-4 when I play next time. I was driving one of my open top LMP cars. Havent played this game in awhile. Still has its magic

I went from Realistic, No power steering, FFB 4... to my settings now Realistic, Power steering, FFB 10.

To me this feels just right. The strength is still there, but the overall FFB power used for effects is greatly changed. The wheel can still turn fast and give the strong effects, but it only does when it should do.
I think it's overal more realistic. I turned power steering on as with some cars it just felt too abnormal and too hard to turn the wheel without power steering. Besides, most modern cars have power steering nowadays.
Still haven't tried an older car though without power steering, when power steering is turned on.

I thought I fixed my clicking brake mechanism by tightening all of the screws on the black and bright plate. After a few uses, it's back. I've sent TM an email. Albeit minor, this is a constant annoyance that should not be occurring.

Btw, I have the pedal box in F1 mode, pedals coming up from the floor.

Need Help!!
I want to replace the t500rs fan.
Which fan should I replace it with????
Please respond someone.
Thanks!

I just contacted TM for a free new and improved one for self installation with the promise that I'll keep my warranty. I'm happy with the new and improved fan.

But if you want to know, dig a few pages back. The answer is already in the thread.

I'm sure this has probably been answered, but I really don't want to look through 253 pages and over 5000 post to find it, but does the T500RS still wobble back and forth like my DFGT does while going straight with any vehicle? My favorite thing to race in GT5 is probably the go karts, but they have very strong wheel wobble in the straights. Thanks!

No it absolutely does not. You can let go of the wheel and it will remain straight.

did the thrustmaster fix the fan problem in their wheel Version 5? and what kind of improvement did they implement each version? anybody know?

Also use some type of Loctite to keep the bolts from coming loose again. I was having to tighten them almost after every session once that started, but once I put a drop of Loctite on every bolt it's been solid. Take each screw out completely (one at a time) and put a dab on the threads and then insert and tighten. You'll see 3 bolts are long and 3 are short, but put loctite on them all.

Do you know if the longer ones are grabbing a metal insert or plastic?

If plastic I would avoid adhesives. They can make the plastic brittle as well if it does bond and you need to remove. You gonna pull the threads.

Sound advice if there is metal inserts on the three longer bolts female side. Would not fuss with the three short ones myself.

Loctite huh? I'll keep that in mind. I need go pickup the allen wrench set today. I've been very lazy in regards to this issue. Makes it tough to press the buttons in the heat of a race

edit- It was a metric allen wrench size 3 I think that perfectly fits the bolts. Wheel works like a charm again :D

can you fit this wheel to the Wheel Stand Pro??

I've added this to my xmas list but as I dont have a wheel i'm going to need somethign to fix it too, as the WSP is pretty compacy i'm hoping I can use this. I just readt that the T500 is pretty heavy compared to G25/27 etc.....

Thanks :)

The t500rs-wsp I purchased is slightly heavier than the other wsp version. However it works just fine as long as you use the brakes in f1 mode. But if you invert the brakes then the WSP will not properly mount the bottom brakes. I contacted WSP about this but it appears they have no plans to support it. On the good side the brakes are fairly stable without the mount anyways and the stand goes much, much lighter making everything easy to tuck away when you're not using it 👍

The F1 style is the 'normal' style yes?

If so that was going to be the way I would use them anyway so that's fine.

I'll just make sure I look for the correct version
