I'm so excited, I just pre ordered this badboy on amazon.com too bad beach audio which has it in stock won't ship to Canada.
I've been out of the shifter seen for while after my g25 shifter broke. I'm so glad I can get back into heal and toeing again MAHAHAHA

My shifter should be arriving today or tomorrow. Too bad I won't be able to use it for some time, due to my unhealthy Skyrim addiction :( :guilty:

This.

I've had one session with my shifter. I spent a year getting the perfect hardware set up and am no longer interested as I cannot drive around Skyrim (someone please add that mod).

Maybe saw off a bit to make the TH8 RS stick a little shorter and make shifting faster. I'd go for that.

actually it appears (I've had time to play about) that you can tune the shift positions from within windows and save these to the shifter!

i.e. since there is no switches you can tell (program) the shifter at which position it should switch gears. so faster shift = smaller dead zone.. or map both 5 and 7 to gear 5!! nice.

However.. From a GT5 POV, the faster the shift the more likely you are to screw up the gear change.

(this may of course only be my technique :dunce: )

as for the skyrim distraction let me cast a fast healing spell in your direction papaspurs, followed by a circle of protection for your next online track day.. I've done about 38 hours on Skyrim. Now where did I put my life :)

I had placed an order with Amazon, they had 15 in stock but said they would not ship until after Christmas. I cancelled my order and then found it on e-bay, delivery date is around December 10-15.

On a side note, I tried ordering from Amazon after I cancelled and they said they won't deliver to my location, but originally they would?

I had the same problem, as far as ordering..I gave them a call, now it should be coming today..Not getting my hopes up though..:scared:

Can someone tell me if the TH8RS shifter will mount fine on my Playseat Shifter Mount? I have a feeling that the brace holding the mount plate will get in the way of the clamp. With the G27 Shifter, you have to unscrew the center table clamp in order to hard-mount it because it gets in the way. Please take a look at my pictures and tell me what you think. Also, any opinions on placement of the shifter are welcome. I think since the mount sits quite low, the TH8RS will be at a decent height considering it's a long shifter. What do you think?

Yes, it will mount just fine with the Playseat Shifter Mount (use either the two mounting screws on the left or right on the bottom of the TH8 RS). The screw holes are for M6 screws, be sure they are not too long or you could damage the top of the shift mount about the screws. I've used the two screw holes on the right hand side of the shifter (one above the other just like the holes in the Playseat shifter mount). So far this has been very sturdy. You could also drill two more holes in the Playseat Shifter Mount to correspond to the other two mounting holes in the TH8 RS but I really don't think that is necessary (unless you really get vigorous with your shifting).

hey looney that mods mad, can you just confirm that on ps3 games where i can use the fanatec wheel and fanatec shifter fine, now with this mod i can ditch the standard fanatec shifter and use a th8?

my second fannytec shifter is registering first gear alot when i put it in third.

also who is this IF1 and where are the usual locations please?

I am about to do the same exact as well. Forget this Fanatec shifter, definitely getting the TH8 just as long as looney still has this around.

According to this video, if the standard Fanatec shifter works in whatever game you're playing, then the TH8 will work as well. I am just going to take his word for it and save up for the TH8.

Is that Sega shifter taken apart from a Initial D Arcade Stage cabinet?
I would love to have that as I still play Initial D Extreme Stage in my PS3

IF1 is interfaceone, Not sure that he still visits these forums. he's camped out at another fanatec wheel site, you can get to that site if you click the interfaceone hyperlink in my post, or from the youtube comments/info.

In answer to your Question.

YES 👍

you need the circuit interface PCB from interfaceone. to get the TH8RS to connect with the Fanatec wheel, and you may need to recalibrate the shifter. recalibrating your shifter may in fact help you solve the issue your having with the wrong gear selection.

Yes it's from Initial D cabinet, got mine from ebay. Now, the 6 speed shifter from Wangan Maximum Tune would be awesome. Hate to think what one of those would cost.

Yup we can imagine...
But still I would love to use the 6-speed shifter as well from Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3DX+ cabinets. It has a fairly strong resistance and I usually get precise shifting when I play the game at my local arcade.

no way will this thing mount on a wheelstand pro as it is much too large and lifelike.

Just received TH8RS and managed to mount this on a Wheelstand Pro. However I had to reverse mount shifter plate (upside down) to the wheel plate as T500 is too large and blocked the shifter plate if mounted the "right" way. It still works and is even better as mounted that way the shifter plate is about 6 inches or so lower than the other way round.

While I drove a stick shift GTI for 8 years its the first time I use a shifter for games - and I'm missing a lot of gears!! Having had it for 2 days I am still doing solo runs to get used to the thing but its been good fun. 👍

Hey guys, ever since learning that the sequential mode is not supported on PS3 a few days ago in this thread I'm a little disappointed to say the least.

I'm wondering if the shifter pcb board can be modded in the same way itrdc5 made it work with the Fanatec wheel in Forza. It'd be a huge relief to just see a video of this working in GT5. I assume it would be as simple as checking the voltages on the shifter paddles and and modding it accordingly...or no?

thanks vile and looney for the info, i was just wondering if you know if the IF1 will work with fanatecs upcoming csr elite and csw?

I'd also wait for update from PD. The TH8RS is still new and I bet we'll see soon enough.

Thank you for this information. If you see this message I'd like to clarify you refer to the logitech g27 shifter plate? This was included with your wheelstand? I just contacted WSP and they are sending me the shifter plate. mine did not include one

I'm loosing track on where this is going :)

My Understanding is if you have a T500RS and the TH8RS with the PS3 and GT5 then they both connect via USB and only H mode is supported. I don't know if this is limited by the game (solvable by a GT5 update if the will is there to support the official wheel!) or a limitation of the driver from the PS3 (New Firmware required ..hmmm might need developing and to slipstream into the release schedule this might take some time, and cost.) or a combination of both!

Can you shine more light on how itrdc5 made it work with the fanatec?

If what you want is a video of the shifter working in both H mode and sequential on GT5 with a fanatec wheel, I can put that together.

I can't say for certain I have neither of the wheels, of course if the current shifters work on those wheels and it's the same physical connector interface then the answers probably yes or with a slight modification depending on the way the csr design goes.

cool, will wait for confirmation of it working with the new wheels and if i buy a csre or csw will for sure purchase the if1 so i can marry it with a th8.

I don't have the TH8RS just yet but as far I can know when you use it with PC, the shifter and TM software detects when you remove the H-gated plate and automatically goes into sequential (+/-) mode (if you've use the Logitech G25, it would be similar to turning the knob from H-gated to sequential). You can see it here: http://youtu.be/L2NCaak8GIk?t=1m27s

Since it's probably done via a sensor on the the shifter unit, I don't think it's that big of an issue for GT5 to be able to support stick sequential on the TH8RS.

When I ordered the Wheelstand Pro, while I was told its for T500RS, the TH8RS was still a long way from being announced so I guess the shifter plate must be for something else (not sure if its for g27 or some other shifter though).

Hello!
Has anyone in scandinavia have the th8rs?
If so, did you have to order it from outside your country or do you have retailer in your country.
I've been trying to get answer from my local dealer, but they don't have a clue when it would be available in Finland, or at least at their store.

In Finland we get our tax refunds in a week, and the money is already burning a hole in my pocket :)

to my knowledge i thought the wheel stand pro people only made one shifter plate only which was the for the g25/27.

Today is a good day! Along with a whole new learning curve. Very nice shifter indeed.
