That looks pretty good, but I'm not that hardcore to where I need two like that. I've changed it between H and Sequential a few times and am getting pretty quick at it, takes me about 45 seconds total.

I held off on giving a full review until I had used it for a couple weeks. I'm not going to write a ton, but I will give my basic feelings about it.

Pros: Very versatile with the mounting solution, easily changeable from H-pattern to Sequential, looks pretty good (even better with the red pinstriping as seen above), once you get it adjusted it really feels great.

Cons: The shaft is pretty tall, wish the shift throws were a little shorter. The tension adjustment screw moves with the rest of the unit, so each time you want to adjust it you have to reposition everything, adjust tension, test, repeat. A little annoying but not a huge deal.

Overall thoughts: Well, I ordered a second one for my second rig I'm building, so what does that tell you? I really think for the price, it's the best shifter out there. There are cheaper and more expensive solutions, but I think the TH8RS really hits a sweet spot. Maybe the Fanatec Clubsport Shifter will take the throne when it's released?

I am totally bummed out today, just got an email from e-bay that my TH8 shifter has been lost in the mail. It has been 20 days shipped from New York and they are out of stock now.

I did get a refund, wouldn't you know it they still aren't available in Canada yet.

Finally! I was finally able to remove my shift knob after 2 weeks of letting the WD40 creep in. I just had to jolt it by using a large cloth for grip, using the left hand to turn the level clockwise (to keep it from getting loose) and my right hand to turn the knob counter clockwise. By using a sudden jolt it came off just like that. Now I only need a different knob for when I feel like changing it. Plus it's easier to change the plates this way as well.

It sure does suck. I went ahead and ordered a Derek Speare Pro Sequential not sure when it will arrive and it's PC only. Whenever the TH8's become available here in Canada I get one for my second rig.

I used my TH8RS for about 30 minutes for the first time this weekend. It really has an awesome feel to it. So much better than how the G27 shifter felt. I put the whole setup on my wheelstand pro for DFGT that was upgraded to fit the G27, it is not the deluxe wheelstand pro. For the TH8RS I just flipped the shifter plate upside down so it was lower and the shifter nob wasn't above the steering wheel. The clamp worked perfectly with this setup. I'm normally a paddle shifter but I had a lot of fun using this around Nordschleife. For now I took the shifter and plate off because I need to get a USB extension to use it with my current setup. I plan to use it to learn heel toe shifting though.

Question for you guys, the TH8RS should clamp to the playseat shifter mount, right? I'm getting the Playseat GT style seat and want to make sure before picking up the mount. There doesn't seem to be much on the internet about the two together. Thanks.

You won't be able to clamp it due to the dimensions of the mounting plate on the bottom (I have pics with measurements somewhere on this thread.) With that being said, you will have to hard mount it and drill new holes. One other person is doing this project on this thread, hopefully he will post pictures once it's done.

You can hard mount it without drilling any holes if you don't mind using only two holes to mount it. I've got mine mounted this way and it is very steady and firm. See pics in this thread .

Thanks, I started skimming through the thread after posting that and saw your pictures. Thanks for the help, I will keep an eye out for his project.👍

Thanks Neoagent, I'll check that out when I get home.

Thanks for the update Neoagent! I don't see how I missed your post:dunce:
Good luck with your setup mcfizzle! I'm sure the shifter will mount fine and stable by the looks of his setup. Very nice!

Thanks, somehow I saw his pictures but missed that he hard mounted it without drilling. I'm glad he responded also. It's going to be a lot of fun with the new setup.

Well, today I got an email from Amazon.co.uk that the delivery of my TH8RS will be delayed again. Fun fun fun! :grumpy:

I cancelled the order and placed on on Komplett.no. I doubt they will be able to deliver much sooner than Amazon, but at least it's a tad cheaper.

By the way, on Amazon I saw a TH8RS that was in stock, but cost 40 pounds more (169.90) than the one I ordered (129.90). What kind of hoax is that?

This is really nice! I might have to do something like this and then utilize some of the extra button outputs from my SLI-Pro. Can you tell me where you found this picture or if you have any other ones or any info on how it was built?

Probably a different Amazon market place seller. Amazon has their price and so do the market place sellers. Sometimes the market place sellers prices are lower than Amazons, sometimes they are higher.

Yup, Amazon is out of the F1 rim but a marketplace seller has it in stock for $30 more than Amazon's price. I've bought items for cheaper from their sellers before, but it's not always the case.

nice, you just gave me idea what im doing with my button box and frex shift+ 👍👍

thanks wildrun

I thought about mounting my Derek Spear button box into a console, is this what you are planning?

Here is a quick picture of the mount I built for it, all very basic using leftover wood from building the cockpit. Also got my button box in today too. Button box wooden mount is temporary until I go get some mounting brackets tomorrow.

Also the whole cockpit for reference. Built by me, all wood, very simple really, not complete yet, needs a little more paint, carpet fitting needs completed, trim work, and my biggest pet peeve....LOTS of wiring cleanup. The cockpit is shaped in a basic race car shape and the "wheel" humps will each have a mount for a CSW replacement wheel (F1 and GT) and then I'll fit a few stickers too. :)

The black screw you see in the side is how I mounted the shifter supports, it's rock solid and the screws will be painted over for aesthetics.

I dig your setup yo. I take it you play primarily on the PC since I see my beloved sim on your screen. Any plans to order that gadget from interfaceone to use the TH8 on xbox?

Man button boxes seem all the rage these days I'll have to look into that at some point

I love the button box, I need to label it though since I keep forgetting whatbdoes what. The rig will be undergoing a major upgrade over the next few weeks. I'm building a mount for the shifter similar to the photo above but with more buttons.

I am primarily a PC racer, but I do have Forza4 and GT5 but they aren't currently connected. I most likely won't go back to Xbox often enough to justify the connector for the TH8. The 360 with Kinect mostly get used for family/party games now.

I took the shifter completely apart to see how I'm going to have to mount it. Anyone want pictures? It's very basic but looks well built.

something like that, yes, im making my button box at the moment, waiting for delivery from frex, i really liked roy viser's console if you seen it you know what i mean, but that console don't fit/match my HR GT chassis, so im planning something different.

I really love this shifter. but the additional cost of buying the interfaceone board to plug directly to the wheel adds another 100USD/AUD on to the Th8rs .

while i can wire frex directly wire the cable to the button box.

I forgot if I mentioned this to you before or not. At the bottom of the page Derek Speare made up labels for his button boxes Here You could probably get ideas from them.

I have seen Roy's console and I love it, I was inspired by it and would like to incorporate elements into my rig.

You sort of lost me on wiring your Frex shifter into your button box, could you elaborate please?

While I may use some of his icons, I'm going to go a little more custom. I use several different cars in iRacing each of which I use custom controls for and play a few different games, so I will be making custom overlays using thick photo paper for each car/game/etc. It will be a little bit of work, cutting out each individual hole for the switches to go through, but I think the end result will be well worth it. I'm currently working on my first one for the MX5 in iRacing but it's on hold right now since I'm going to build a console that will house the button box, the shifter, a cup holder :) , the rotary encoders for the SLI-Pro, warning lights, etc.

I think I'm going to make a separate thread just to help me keep track of everything, because right now I'm just writing it all down on paper.

Edit: SOLD

Not sure if this is against the rules or not (if it is I'll edit) but I have a second TH8RS that I was going to use in a second cockpit, but I decided not to build another cockpit so if anyone in the US needs one, $140 shipped (will ship to other countries for additional cost). Still factory sealed, never even opened the box.

Knob looks good! Personally I would like to switch to a leather or Alcantara knob. Is it the same standard thread size as most universal shift knobs?

I'll buy it off you today. Please PM me.

thanks

Got your PM, responding now.

No, the threads are an oddball m9. The width of the shaft is almost 5/16's. You need a universal shift knob. One that has spacers and set screws.
The heavier knob feels a lot better.
