When I ordered my EF 500mm f/4L IS USM they were out of stock in Canada so they had to get one from Japan, of course they don't fly it over, it shipped by ... ship :D It took 3 months to arrive.

But then how will you switch to sequential mode?

The 3m board to be attached with velcro so it can be removed and just un-clamp the gear stick to switch modes or tighten the shift. keep the wood you attach the Th8 to hidden in the lower part of the console

Super bike, how long does it usually take for something to reach the USA from Japan? Still waiting on the TH8. Thanks

Well, since I'm stationed on a US military base in Japan it's not as bad as usual international shipping. But with the holidays, USPS gets backed up, so it's normally an extra 2-3 days added onto whatever the normal time would be. The path is for the box to go from my base to the Narita airport in Tokyo, then it flies over to Los Angeles where it gets sorted by USPS, that's quick, 2 or 3 days max. But once it gets into the hands of USPS, it's hard to tell. Normally when someone from back home (Seattle) sends me something, it gets here in less than a week, but that's not the case during the holidays.

Due to you being on the East Coast it is going to be a little longer, maybe 10 business days?

What kind of shifter knobs are you guys using and how are you mounting them? I have this one:

...and the way it works is, you have to more or less bolt it to the shaft using three alan screws. I find that NONE of the standard car shift knobs come with a screw hole that screws directly onto the TH8RS the way the default knob does.

I had to add a small rubber hose around the shaft so that my knob would fit snugly and bolt down using the three screws.

Kind of a pain doing it this way, so if you intend on using an after market shift knob, be prepared to discover that you will NOT be able to simply screw it on to the TH8RS. You'll have to find an alternative method of installing it.

"Universal Shift Knobs" are generally delivered with some lever adaptors. These adaptors are compatible with TH8 lever.

Some quick examples:

That's excellent news, I've never ordered a universal knob before. I'll be looking for a leather (or pleather) knob once I get my new rig setup.

I have a really nice Momo Knob and had difficulties with fitting. It is the same method, three screw's and some rubber. Felt great once fitted ....but after some racing and shifting I discovered it wasn't as snug a fit as you would need. So I had to Frankenstein it with a piece of wood that I drilled out and rounded so as to fit over the gear stick and into the gear knob to support the gear knob and give the screws something more solid to press against............needless to say this only worked up until a week ago and the original TM knob is back on. I miss the weight, size and look of the Momo Knob wish their was a better way to fit it .......My Knob comes apart and if i could weld I could put a nut inside the gear knob and attach it to the gear stick that way.......... Definitely a gap in the market in my opinion

Sparco CT Road knob for me. Fits like a glove. If you are lucky enough to find one.

I've been looking at some really brilliant sparco Knob and pedal sets since the last post. Could you tell me how yours fits to the shifter Vince.

Sure Carson. The Sparco Universal Knobs have different sized shaft adapters. Use the one that fits tightly over the threads of the shifter. Then, in my model knob (since its longer) I put another adapter up the knob cavity. Then at the base of the knob the bottom screws off to reveal three set screws. Use these to tighten up the knob to the shaft. Just tighten up evenly so it stays parallel with the shaft. Then thread the base piece back in place. The CT Road model has the flared bottom to install a leather universal boot.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anymore information.

Thanks Vince, that does sound sturdier. The one I've been looking at is the same length as yours. http://www.autoinparts.com/Interior...-_Satin_Black_-_Std_Reverse/product_info.html Hopefully its the same to fit. Thanks again helped me make my mind up 👍

Just make sure to do your research. It needs to be listed "universal fit". Some other distributors will give more details about the knob you want. I have even run across diagrams showing installation instructions.

Will do. In your case did you have enough of the right adaptors for fitting to the shaft top middle and bottom. Or did you need more

You just need the one adapter to fit over the threads. In my case I put an extra one in the knob cavity, just to make it sit up a little higher. There are five different adapters that come with the Sparco products labeled as Universal fit.

I've been eyeballing this shifter for awhile. Can I get a few negs on it. What are the things people don't like outside of some having difficulty switching to sequential and some not liking the length of the shaft.

None at this point. If you don't like the shaft length, you can fix that. Switching to sequential and gate is not a problem. Unless you are using a aftermarket knob. Then it takes just a bit longer.
Well, make that a lot longer.

My pops is a machinest so shaft length isn't an issue for me. It was if there was anything else.

It would have been nice to be able to unscrew the shaft and be able to fit another one with the proper sized screw thread, or with one that was thicker.

Why? The aftermarket knobs work fine with the existing shifter shaft.

I know you can at least unscrew it from the point up where you see the black spacer.

HI guys, the TH8 on mode sequential doesn't work on GT5?
I can't believe it! PD???

I KNOW.. it's quite unbelievable since the G25 supported both simultaneously.
Half the racing machines in the game are equipped with modified sequential transmissions and we're stuck paddle shifting them.

Really would like to know why his wasn't addressed yet. I was expecting the last update to change this.. maybe in the next patches.
