Yeah.. I miss the old teal Marlins uniform that was the ****.

I like that the Orioles switched the logo on their hat to the old vintage one. Much better... and the new Blue Jays uni is sweet.

Freakin' Selig is meeting with the Giants executives about the A's moving to San Jose which would royally screw over the Giants in the rear. No Selig just retire before you screw the game anymore.

I have no problems with the Astros moving over the AL and inter league being a regular deal. I'm indifferent with the second wild card... Playoffs are fun to watch and it really wouldn't change much with another team. The whole "2nd place teams shouldn't make it" is stupid and doesn't hold much ground.

So it's awards season! Who ya got?

AL:
Cy Young - Justin Verlander, DET
MVP - Justin Verlander, DET
ROTY - Eric Hosmer, KCR
Comeback POTY - Michael Young, TEX
Manager - Jim Leyland, DET

NL:
Cy Young - Clayton Kershaw, LAD
MVP - Matt Kemp, LAD
ROTY - Craig Kimbrel, ATL
Comeback POTY - Jose Reyes, NYM
Manager - Kirk Gibson, ARI

I don't think a pitcher should be an MVP, so as much as I like Verlander I don't think he should even be considered.

Justin Verlander won the AL MVP. How do you like that, Joey?

List of people on this years HoF ballot.. ESPN labled it as "Bernie Williams and Bill Mueller front this years HoF ballot" LOL!!! More bias? Both of those aren't even CLOSE to HoF.

Barry Larkin
Jack Morris
Lee Smith
Jeff Bagwell
Tim Raines
Edgar Martinez
Alan Trammell
Larry Walker
Mark McGwire
Fred McGriff
Don Mattingly
Dale Murphy
Rafael Palmeiro
Juan González
Jeromy Burnitz
Vinny Castilla
Brian Jordan
Javy López
Bill Mueller
Terry Mulholland
Phil Nevin
Brad Radke
Tim Salmon
Rubén Sierra
Bernie Williams
Tony Womack
Eric Young

The ones that should make it...

Barry Larkin
Jeff Bagwell
Edgar Martinez
Larry Walker
Mark McGwire

Lee Smith is borderline, but will probably get in.

Everyone else is bleh... Next three years will be interesting though...

As an Astros fan, I'm DEFINITELY pulling for Jeff Bagwell. He was one of the good old Killer B's for the Astros. Mark McGwire is a bit sketchy for me, but I'm pretty sure he'll get in.

Edgar Martiiiiinnneeeezz!

How could McGwire not make it? Because of steroids? Please. Everyone knows who Mark McGwire is.

Jeff Bagwell is a top 5 first basemen of ALL TIME. First ballot for sure, he is a 5 tool player. Tremendous power, stole bases, hit for average, GG defense, good arm.

Both of those should make it, the argument that DH's shouldn't get in is a joke. Half the players get in because of their offense, and Martinez was a beast with the bat.

Anyone who thinks people who used roids shouldn't get in should just stop watching sports because they are stupid. Specially considering steroids wasn't made illegal until 2003. Selig and owners made millions, blamed players.

I agree. HOF balloters can be so full of themselves. :yuck:

So we officially got Jose Reyes. One more (Pujols) and it's Los Tres Grande de Beisbol. Loria said, "Hmm... we need to upgrade the team. TO THE DOMINICAN!"

So... How bout them Rockies? They are a great team when they are hitting. And they didn't hit last year.

They traded Ianetta to the Angels for starting pitching and claimed Jamie Hoffman (who ever that is) from the Dodgers. He is an outfielder. The Rockies are dissapointing because of their inconsistencies over the past 5 years. They'll make the playoffs, then come last the next year. ITS SO FRUSTRATING!!!!

But I'm starting to think the Ubaldo trade wasn't such a bad deal with the great pitching prospects we got.

Lol. Sounds like you're the Marlins of the west. When we make the playoffs we come home with hardware though.

The rockies have won a whopping zero division titles in their 18 years of existance but have made it to the world series.

Wait, I guess I missed this... But when did the Florida Marlins change their name to the Miami Marlins?:odd:

The beginning of this next year they will be called the Miami Marlins. They are getting a nice new retractable roof stadium, completely new logos and jerseys, and they acquired Jose Reyes and are in talks with Albert Pujols. Next year will be interesting!

Cool then. Though I always thought nobody really payed attention to the Marlins in Florida. They always had pretty dismal fan attendance. And I recall talks a few years back of the team moving to San Antonio.

The reason they had no fans first and foremost was the stadium. It was miserable in the florida heat, humidity, and rain without any cover over you and no way to avoid the sun. This brought down attendance and therefore made them less money so they couldn't pay the good players high enough contracts to keep them. Now that they have the new venue, this will all surely change.

Correction: they are BANKING on it changing! Because if it doesn't then they'll fold.

There are plenty of Marlins fans. The problem is that the current stadium serves a tri-county area. It's smack dab in the middle, with nothing around it. This is great for once-a-week football games where there are only 16 games to play. Basically you drive out to the stadium and hang out on Sundays and spend your morning and afternoon there.

But for baseball games? How can you drive all that way to a stadium 162 times? There's just too many games to fill the stadium with Marlins fans each time. The only time we get lots of attendance is when the Cubs, Phillies, Mets, and Yankees come to play. Cubs games always have lots of visitor fans, Mets more so early on, Phillies all of a sudden when they stopped sucking, and Yankees just because they're the Yankees and almost never play here. Cubs games were broadcast to S.FL before we got our expansion team in 1993, so we have a whole generation of people who grew up Cubs, plus the fact that many in the Cuban community had ties to Chicago.

The stadium leasing deal they had was the worst one in all of baseball. It sucks the revenue out of the organization. That's why they would eventually scrap every team they put together. If we could have actually kept the talent we developed, we would have been a juggernaut since 1997. That's one thing the Marlins have been good at, anyway. Making cheap teams work and then selling them to the highest bidder has kind of been the theme.

The new stadium is at the old Orange Bowl site. I'm kind of annoyed by this since that means it's even farther away for me, but it's not like I was a regular ballgame-goer anyway. I maybe go to 4 or 5 games every 2 or 3 seasons. I'm not even in town any more.

Most of the attendance is families or people with kids. Kids love baseball. It's a lot easier for parents to explain than football.

The new stadium is surrounded by civilization (if you can call it that) instead of just being fed by a highway. That should put more regulars in the seats. It's also a lot smaller and the management was slick enough to put all the financial burden on the citizens of Miami, so they should have revenue coming out of their ears once the big show gets going.

Only bad part about this for Miami fans is the owner is proving that he is serious.... In keeping the team until he wins a World Series and then will make another fire-sale. I wouldn't be surprised if all of the players go since neither Reyes nor Pujols have or will sign a contract with a no-trade clause.

Bagwell is on the fence.

How is a top 10 first basemen of all time on the fence?

One of the most consistent careers of all time. 948 OPS (22nd all time right before Mel Ott) over 15 seasons (149 OPS+).. From 94' to 02' he was a top 5 player in baseball... Next to names like Griffey, Bonds, Piazza, Thomas, Bonds, Ripken, Gwynn, Sosa, Biggio, Jones, Martinez, McGwire, Rodriguez (x2), Ramirez, Berkman, Pujols, Thome... Everyone of those are HoF players.

No, they aren't. He's an Angel, after all ;). Miami is looking at pitchers now. Gaby Sanchez is good enough on first.

I meant Fielder. What pitchers are left anyways now with the Fish overpaying for Buerhle and Wilson in an actual LaLa land (since they pretend to be from there)?

The Cards front office screwed themselves over. That had three years of talks and they couldn't do what the Angels did in two days. Lol. I don't think this makes the Angels the new favorite of the AL West again like ESPN is tagging them because the Rangers are still a whole lot better. I still think the Marlins had a better off season. The Pujols and Wilson contract will come back and bite em in the ass, along with the Wells contract the Angels for some reason took on. ESPN also labeled Mike Scioscia as one of the best managers in the league, how is that so when he plays Mathis over Napoli.

I doubt Marlins go after Fielder, for some reason the Rangers feel like they need him so I think its between them and the Brewers.

Is Pujols taking over at 1B for the Angels or is he their DH now that he's in the AL?

I think our lineup is pretty good with Reyes, Buonifacio, Ramirez, and then Stanton and the younger guys.

Man, this whole deal with the uniforms is such a damn shame. I wish I could be excited about the team but I can't rep those terrible, ugly unis. If I go to the games it'll be in one of those teal bodysuits with a protest sign.
