Jimmy Fallon Reaction GIF by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

I'm very nervous. I'm very scared of Ohtani. Fingers crossed.

(Also I only today learned that Jazz Chisholm is a GB player - I actually have one of our own to cheer. Truly a World Series!)

Thirty teams played their tails off to make the postseason and prove to be the better teams in MLB. Twelve succeeded. The teams started eliminating each other. And now... two teams remain with one of them becoming World Series Champions. Will it be the New York Yankees or the Los Angeles Dodgers hoisting the Commissioners Trophy and winning the World Series? Find out starting tonight in Rancho Cucamonga, CA!

Congratulations to the eventual 2024 World Series Champions!

I hate this game sometimes.
Stayed up till nearly 5am for that heartbreak.

Freddie Freeman is an absolute legend though. We should’ve signed him.

It would’ve been better not reaching the World Series for another 15 years, rather than getting there and playing like this.

The Yankees truly suck.

The AL has been a step below the NL this year.

The Dodgers are showing how you properly run a big market franchise. Hopefully the Yankees top brass are paying attention but I doubt it, they probably think getting to the WS shows they are doing things right. Incredible that they can have a $310 million payroll, with hardly any major injuries, and have a roster this bad. So top heavy it's ridiculous.

As for Judge, it will be hilarious when he gets the MVP after this. 196/303/430 with 86 strikeouts in 56 playoff games, over 7 separate years. It's not a small sample size, he's Mr May, a flat track bully feasting on the weak pitching during the regular season. What a shame he didn't take the Giants money a couple of years back.

A very good summation of the Yankees ineptitude

Bad take. Also, the Yankees were poorly constructed going into this season. While I believe they would have been in better shape had the Mets won, I don't think they had a chance against the NL outright.

I agree with this. The Yankees are fundamentally flawed. That said they should have won game 1. Boone should not have put in a pitcher who hasn't pitched since August. As long as Cashman is gm the Yankees will not win

Yankee fans trying everything to keep their team in the game. Including interfering with a foul ball catch. Probably not the best idea.

Ball was in the stands. Ok it was in Mookie’s glove at the time but still, finders keepers.

Good win by the Yankees. I'm glad they didn't fold and get swept at home. Maybe they can win another one. I hope if Cole is dealing they don't pull him because of analytics says they should. We'll see though

Ladies and gentlemen, here are your winners, and the NEWWWW Champions of Major League Baseball...

...the Los Angeles Dodgers!

After the New York Yankees went up by a good amount early, the Dodgers came back to crush the hopes of the Yanks reverse-sweeping the Dodgers for the 2024 World Series crown. However, it only becomes a Gentleman's Sweep as the Dodgers win it all in five games. Games 1-3 went to the Dodgers, Game 4 to the Yankees, and Game 5 a 7-6 victory for the Dodgers. I had a little interest in the Dodgers winning for one reason- Shohei Ohtani. All congratulations to the Dodgers on their triumph out of sportsmanship.

Well, it's time for the Dodgers to try to defend their crown for 2025. All of the other MLB teams want to be where the Dodgers are currently- atop the MLB mountain. Who will triumph in 2025? We shall see.

Now that this season is over, feel free to share final thoughts on this season if you like.

Congrats to the Dodgers. They were the best in all aspects this series. Deserved champions.

As for that other team, the less said the better at this point. I’ll save that rant for Reddit.

I thought for sure that there was going to be a game 6 but that didn't happen. The Dodgers were the better team.It was good to see Judge hit too bad it was too little too late. TBH even if he was taking from the jump he wouldn't have been able to overcome the Yankees analytical dept. I will never understand in what universe it makes sense to put in a pitcher who hasn't pitched in a couple months to pitch to Freddie Freeman of all people in extra innings. That has to be one of the most boneheaded decisions in all of sports. To me that's a fire lable offense. Anyway hopefully Uncle Steve doesn't sign Soto away from the Yankees

All I have to say about this season is that I am proud of the resolve of my Houston Astros to even make the postseason. Some say the Astros got lucky as the Mariners and [defending champion] Rangers both struggled late. The expectations I think were to go ALCS or better. We ended up as a 3rd seed in the AL side of the bracket and got swept 2-0 at home against the Detroit Tigers. I do think the falloff from the 2022 World Series triumph is worsening. The 2023 season started rough but got better later. The 2024 season was even rougher a start but got better later. Something tells me 2025... we may not be so fortunate to make the postseason. Maybe it will be time for other teams to have their runs and success even in this Golden Era of Astros baseball.

The other team I want to make light of is the Chicago White Sox. The White Sox have been the punching bag and the butt of all jokes for their pathetic performance. The only great thing for White Sox fans is that the 2024 team had more wins than the 1899 Cleveland Spiders. So the 2024 White Sox are not entirely all-time bad. However, they aren't very good either. They will have to figure out how to get out of this funk, and it may take some more seasons. But... look at my Astros. We had three straight 100+ loss seasons; we had seasons where we posted 55, 53, then 51 wins in a 162-game season before we turned things around and even won the Championship twice (one controversially). Nobody stinks forever.

I may make a few thoughts before working on the 2025 season thread, but I've had my say. Do you all want to share your thoughts on your favorite teams, players, or the 2024 season in general?

Odd thought: When was the last year there wasn't November baseball? Aside from maybe 2020, I can't remember any off the cuff.

EDIT: Disregard, I'm an idiot that doesn't pay enough attention. About half of the last 10 years have had November games.
