I'm interested in D1, poss D2 if there is space, but I'll defer to others if that's an issue.

I was not expecting to get on tonight, but I am. If you are up for some practice races, I'm up for that. I don't have the D1 or D2 accounts friended, though.

Hey,

Got this weeks stats done and dealt with, what a struggle but they're there. Let me know if there's anything amiss.

Also it's real hard to get total time for each driver, so I skipped it, sorry.

I guess, I'm just more old school I guess. I cant say its my age showing, cause for once I'm not the oldest. However. I think moving up to the next division should be your kudos for racing good. I mean, (and you know how much I love exaggerating) if we are going to reward a driver for moving up to div2, then we really should push for PD and Sony to make it a trophy too. I mean really guys? We are here for the racing. I dont need a damn pat on the back to enjoy racing. Especially with this group. If I bust my arse, day in and out, ignore everything but basic food and facility use, and got good enough to take on Devious and Mopar, I sure as hell wouldnt wanna share my prize with someone who's happy with being down in D3 and doesnt wanna put in the effort to move up. Why should that person share my reward for my hard work? Just saying.

I think you misread what I wrote. If you are promoted that is your prize and 👍 to you! I said that the car would be award to the highest driver in a division that DID NOT get promoted, it would be a consolation prize for still doing so well. This idea works well if we are promoting 1 or 2 drivers in Div.2 & Div.3.

As for your comment regarding how if at some point you start busting you arse to take on me or Mopar - be careful now, that sounds dangerously like a challenge. :)

Mopar and I are fast for a couple of different reasons. I use to race professionally and I was good at my job with sponsorships with Mazda, Toyo Tires & Hawk Brakes just to name a few. Mopar & Hogster were both in MLG for the video game Gran Turismo 3 (when GT3 was thee game to play! I'm not bragging, but for me at least, driving is as natural as walking is for most people. Auto Racing has been in my family's history for 4 generations. Not only was I the first female in my family to go into racing I was the first member of my family to pick up a major sponsor with and turn pro. The only reason I stopped racing is because my manager (who was also my finace) got very sick passed away from un-diagnosed to Liver Cancer in May 2009. Since then this is the closest I have been able to come to racing again. I've not had the heart to go back to racing, to face the life Bill & I had built together, to consistently be reminded of what I lost.

As for Mopar and HogsterGT, I'll let them tell their own stories. Mopar has been a close friend of mine for over 8 years now, and he and both understand the Gran Turismo game as well as driving techniques & racing techniques. I have taught Mopar a lot of what I learned about these areas, and it shows, this is (at least in part) why him and I are able to run nose-to-tail lap after lap. We practice, we get to know the car (every car has it's own personality), learn the in's & out's of the track (the track has it's own personality depending on the car you drive) Once you know those variables regarding the car & track, the only things left are you and your competition. These are the things I have taught Mopar, and he has learned these lessons well. Very well. ... some times I think a little too well. LOL

As for the prize, I can understand not wanting to share the prize with others that you have worked so hard for. Yes, it's nice to have a prize, but it's also nice to allow someone who might not get the opportunity to make a change in the line up that we all run. I'm sure in my ability as a driver to share my prize with the group. I'm not giving up complete control, I'm giving them a voice, I'm still making the final track selection out of the choices suggested to me.

With all that having been said (typed) I would like to point out that I'm not ranting, I'm not even venting. I'm not attacking you or anyone else, I'm simply sharing. I'm sharing my history, my knowledge, my passion with this group. I like this group a lot - so much, in fact, I feel comfortable here. I realize that I may come across as rude or even a biotch sometimes. Trust me that's not my intention. I was raised to speak my mind, and to tell it like it is. That's just how I am.

The NSX on the ring...I can already see cars lining up in piles on the interior wall. :(

Send my friend requests to the other two divisions. :nervous: So long as I don't need them accepted to get in, I should be alright.

Commentary directed at a specific member that does not directly affect the group is best left to PMs. The network questions, replies to post involving feelings about other members...., if it isnt moving the group forward as a whole, I don't think we need to read it.

Am I alone here??

EDIT: I do realize that Ap is just trying to work out his connections issues and I'm glad that another member is here to help, but I think PMs are there for a reason and that one fits.

LOOKS GOOD kcheeb!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Great.

(I have no idea what QFT means. I know BTW and I learned the away from keyboard one last night and thats all.)

PS: Second week in a row I'm the only D1 driver who finished better than they started every race. :D

cyborg win!

Great the NSX again at another track I don't especially care for. Looks like those that will slide the car will be fast again. It's just not for me so I'll ride around and not bother anyone.

I almost managed to do the opposite. Somebody wrecked in front of me at one of the Autumn Ring races and gave me a spot or I would have backed up in every race.

Hey kcheeb, good job on the data but i found some small error's (mainly because i watch numbers too (points at Diabolic) ;) )
The Autumn ring 2nd race, looks correct for fastest lap. The 1st race how ever, i have NO IDEA how you got those times :P I took the liberty to look them up and write them down.

ADR: 1'26.409
Diabolic: 1'26.453

But as to the "doesn't wanna put in the effort".... Trust me. I could practice as much if not more than you, and you'll still beat me. No amount of practice makes up for lack of talent. I enjoy it. That doesn't mean I'm any good at it.

It isn't that I like being a loser. I think you should change your perception. I want to find a group of people with similar skill levels so I can actually race and not just follow along at a respectable distance. I have no delusions of being some great undiscovered racing god. I enjoy it, so I do it.

i think you are just looking at it the wrong way. Going around a track over and over the same way will get you nowhere. A fresh set of eyes following you and using the equipment to the best of it's ability (standard instead of auto) will help immensely. I helped chief take over 2 sec. off his lap at AR. I'm sure I can help you too. Mopar and Devious can help even the best of us but it's good to have a basic knowledge of car control, weight transfer, and such first. I have a higher understanding than most because i drive exotic cars around for a living. I ran a 1:26.7xx in the qualifying for D2, i'll happily show you what I know. this group is so great that anyone in here would do the same i'm sure.

The NSX is not a car you slide, you drive it. The S2000 is a car that you slide a little, as in a controlled 4-wheel drift to use a term from when my grandfather was racing.

You shouldn't give up so easily, the race hasn't even started yet and you sounds as if you are giving up. You were fast with the NSX, you finished with a respectable position in the last NSX races, right?

PRIZE B SELECTION

Okay, so I had posted that I was going to change the track as my prize, but I was going to let the group make suggestions for the track, but I only read 6 suggestions from 4 people. TBH, I had expected more.

Does anyone in Div 2 or 3 have suggestions? This is a Limited Time Offer!

PRIZE B SELECTION

Out of all the suggestions presented to me, I have made my final selection.

I would like to say thank you for all 4 of the people who seemed to want to make the suggestion heard, but I can only pick one.

DEEP FOREST REVERSE

This suggestion was made by leadbedr. It's been a while since I have run this course, in fact, I usually run Deep Forest. This is going to be fun.

Next week, if I should finish in the top 2 for Division 1, I will do the same thing, and let everyone but the top 3 Div 1 drivers make 1 suggestion for the car and/or track.

Don't want to sound clueless, I'm just a newbie, we're racing Deep Forest with the S2000. If so, effin awesome. Here comes some racin' !
👍 Or the NSX? Still effin awesome !

Just a quick shout-out to everyone in D2 for a great night of racing. Just a few minor incidents but thats racing. Kudos to Zero for first place and to my buddy AJK-VAIL for second. Great racing guys! Practice sometimes doesn't make perfect for me as I would of pulled off a couple of wins if not for a few mistakes I did not make in practice but in the race. Thats how you grow as a better racer I guess.

I think if safe to say that that Vail and I will see you for practice Wed night.

Doughboy, great job with the room!

I'd like to apologize for not being able to hold a tutoring session tonight. Real Life just continued to get in the way. Tomorrow night should be better.

you know, of all the bugs we mention, how many people have noticed that no matter the setting, Driving line and active steering are always allowed in a lobby?

Found the problem, when I took the times down I got them from the last lap column, not the fastest lap column. I'll double check the others tomorrow and post the new image.

Sorry bout that!!! And thanks for catching it.

Thanks for coming out tonight everyone. Rally! Next week I got something cooking though. And a good race to be had. I'll have more info hopefully in a day or two.

Re-reading my post I realize that I mis-typed what I wanted to say. Oh well it doesn't matter now. I merely wanted to point out that the NSX is one of my least favorite cars in the game. I will not run many, if any, practice laps with combos I don't like so I won't be as fast as I could, hence the comment about riding around and not bothering anyone.

Garris,
I've taken the liberty of 'CliffsNoting' some of your earlier posts so that I could reply to them in a logical manner. I know that most of this has already been addressed by other league members, but I wanted to have a word as well if you don't mind..

The weakest drivers are having run course combos set by the really good drivers. The winners of D1 pick them. So they are more likely to be pick difficult cars on technical tracks. And car/track combos that produce the closest racing, that actually produce racing, get voted off because they are seen as being too easy/boring/childish/whatever...
The elite drivers pick technical combos and the poorer drivers suffer.
This was simply a case of bad timing. We've completed ten league nights now and you just happened to join for the first time when the hardest car and track combo to date was on the rotation. If you look at our previous line-ups, you'll see what I'm talking about. There isn't any combo we've ever raced that was as challenging as the S2000 on Autumn Ring. Please don't let one single combo (out of many that have come before it) lead you to believe that all combos picked are this difficult or technical. And as you know, Devious has already opened up her picks to suggestions from D2 and D3 drivers.

...I am too slow for the SNAIL group. I need to actually find a group of slow, casual drivers (cause I don't have enough hours in the week to break in these cars, so I lose on tracks like the HSR even when I drive very cleanly)... I'm not complaining, but I'm not going to stress over engine break in. Again, those with more time will have the car in better shape. Again, I'm casual.

Your search for "casual" drivers who don't care about winning is in itself a contradiction. It's no wonder you haven't been able to find that group. I see that you live in Durham, NC so I'll use a basketball analogy.. Trying to find a group of racers who don't care about winning is like trying to find a basketball players who don't like to score. Racing is, by it's very nature, a competitive sport and most people who enjoy racing games enjoy the competitive nature of it. After all, the object of racing is to finish first, just like the object of basketball is to score more points than the other team. If all you want is to find drivers who are void of any competitive spirit, you might as well just race A-spec against AI drivers.

Also, I don't understand how you can bemoan being too slow for the SNAIL group, but yet you aren't willing to make your cars as fast as everyone else's by simply breaking them in. It takes literally just a few button presses for each car to do this. Just "set it and forget it". I can't tell you how big of a disadvantage you are at if you don't break-in your cars. You're just not giving yourself a chance. If needed, I'll send you broken-in cars so that you're on an even playing field with everyone else. Just let me know.

...several people seem to have this notion that anyone can be Vettel. The only reason we aren't is because we don't practice enough. That is just bull. I only have so much talent. I accept that. I've been playing GT5 for over a year now. I've gotten better, but I'm never going to be as uber elite as the rest of you...
Trust me. I could practice as much if not more than you, and you'll still beat me. No amount of practice makes up for lack of talent...
I have wanted to improve, and I have improved. I'm much better now than I was a year ago. But it is silly to think I'm some how going to get magically better.

You're right. No amount of practice will make you better - if you're practicing the wrong thing! Perhaps you need instruction before practice. I suggest you take Devious or Mopar on one of their many offers to help. I've experienced first hand how helpful they can be. You'd be a fool not to take them up on their generosity.

I was not expecting to get on tonight, but I am. If you are up for some practice races, I'm up for that. I don't have the D1 or D2 accounts friended, though.

I just sent you a friend request from the D1/practice account. After you accept the request, I would hit up Devious or Mopar to see when they have some time to meet you in the D1 lounge for some 1-on-1 tutoring on the newly announced combos. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. (no pressure Devious and Mopar!)

Due to the different snail accounts we can get into now for different types of game play (brilliant idea I might add) I will no longer be doing TNT in an open lobby. I'll be joining the different rooms kind of just floating around. See you guys tonight.

Okay, how does this sound for usage of the divisional accounts when it's not Sunday night:

SNAIL_Division1 - Any tutoring, practice sessions, or practice races using the cars and tracks on the current line-up

SNAIL_Division2 - Any races not associated with Sunday's league night such as mini-enduros, recommended list or shuffle races, etc

SNAIL_Division3 - Any "non-traditional" races or "games" such as Cat & Mouse, Cat & Snail, touge, team battles, etc

League members would only be required to add the division they're competing in on Sunday night. However, they would have the option to add either of the other accounts if they want to participate in any of the non-Sunday activities described above. This way, everyone will know exactly what to expect when they enter a particular lounge. No surprises, right?

Sounds great!

I would like an invitation to Divisions 1 & 2, please.

Esp. Division 1...

My 'non-crashing' time on the NSX was 3.25 - and I figured out the roughest spots on Cape Ring for me.
The Reverse is at 1.37 and I can tell there are many areas to improve there as well.
The Super Leggera is still TBD - I know that each of the big corners (the first one, and the two big reverses that follow) are clear time losers for me.

So the combos have been updated? It's hard for me to keep up with this thread! (props to you zero)

I know it's still the super leggera at Daytona.
S2k at deep forest reverse?
What's the 3rd combo?

OK I kinda skipped from page 109 to here, way to much to read.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it." and I don't think it's broke. Blanket statement.

I'm not sure this how it is, but if you miss 1 race with notice, you keep your spot in division, if you miss 2 races with or without notice then start in div 3.

I don't think people will get "bored" with "working their way back up". Even if you dominate division 3, don't tell me you wouldn't enjoy a night of winning.

I'm sure if we could, we would have 40+ drivers all in one race! Why not right? The only reason for divisions is the limitation of the game (network).

Again, it ain't broke.
