Prize restructure suggestion....

Prize A: same as current "A" prize

Prize B: same as current "B" prize

Prize C: Winner gets to decide if the car or the track of the remaining car/track combo will be changed, but will not get to pick what the new car or track will be. Instead, all drivers except for the top 3 Div1 drivers will vote for the new selection.

this would give everyone outside the top 3 Div1 drivers a voice to make their selection and have their voices heard.

Thoughts?

As to a fix... uhm... why are all three divisions on the same car/course combo? I don't understand that. They can be on different schedules. I can't figure out any reason why that would be a problem.

Garris. I think the same combos are used in all the divisions for a couple of reasons.
1) It's the simple way to do it. It's 3 different combos instead of potentially 9 different combos. Plus, what happens if a driver gets bumped up a Division at the last minute and they don't have those cars broken in yet?
2) It kind of keeps the league unified. Everyone is practicing the same combos during the week. Several of the events during the week use the cars and/or tracks for the coming Sunday. It seems like it would majorly divide the league if you had separate combos per division.

Also, several people seem to have this notion that anyone can be Vettel. The only reason we aren't is because we don't practice enough. That is just bull. I only have so much talent. I accept that. I've been playing GT5 for over a year now. I've gotten better, but I'm never going to be as uber elite as the rest of you.

There are some relatively simple techniques that can be taught and if applied will help you become more consistent and faster. Vettel faster, probably not, but competitive in the S.N.A.I.L. league you bet. Devious and Mopar have an invitation on the table.

I mean, yes... I can leave you guys to it. I'm too slow for the SNAIL league. I get it. But... it is kind of demoralizing not able to find a group of casual drivers that aren't uber elite.

I honestly don't think we're an uber elite group as a whole. Do we have some fast drivers, you bet, but not all of us are at that level.

I've driven with you garris, you're not nearly as slow as you're making out. I'm not sure why you think of yourself that way, I don't.

i vote MONZA with chicane. thanks Devious, probably only time i'll get this chance.
by the way, i voted for 2 because it i had more fun with the other races.

If we allow voting/suggesting for car selection, we'll have 30+ cars with one vote each...

For anyone that hasn't looked at my Tuesday project, we run six races. After each race, we adjust how much PP everyone is allowed. They tweak their car and we race. The races do get tighter as the evening goes along. But as you can see, I'm consistently at the bottom, even with a 20 PP advantage.

:)

I know, I'm slow.

this is quickly getting hard to follow...i feel for you zero:nervous:
Right, I left school, took me an hour to get home, doing some quick odds and ends, and all of a sudden I miss two pages of new posts! Crap I got a lot to comment on.

Ok, so, someone somewhere around page 105, 106 (cant find it now, looked for longer then I should have) said that they run times fast enough to run in the bottom of div1, but when they are on track racing, they run mid pack div 2.
I find I'm the opposite. I run Mid Div1 with the traffic, but I am usually bottom during qualifying.
Now, the reward system. When I grew up, I played a few sports. And while things seemed to have changed recently, when you didn't win the championship, you didn't win ish. No trophy, no medal, no ribbon, no nothing. Shake the winners hand and get your loser arse off the field.
Further, I think the promotion system is great. But it needs a couple of weeks to level out, as we had a huge influx of people these past couple of weeks. Enough to go from two, 12 participant rooms, to being able to fill 3. That means a lot of new racers flooding division 3, parity hasnt had the chance to happen just yet. Also, the more racers and division we have, the more likely we are to have stable parity. And the closer each division will be in skill. Just give it a week or two more, let the influx ripple calm down. Next week, and certainly the week after, you will start to see more stability. However, Remember that in the bottom round, your subject to the influx epicenter. If a couple of talented drivers and a alright driver or two join in the same week, then your division will be most effected. Then the ripple lessens when it hits div 2, then by time it gets to 1, well, One man enters, One man leaves! (and two up two down for the other divisions. Thats my vote on that matter) So its really hardly a drop in a cup.

AR was great with the S2000. I'd race that one again.!

Im with you Franky, neutral steer all day! well, at least the first 5 laps. then I think I need to clean it up, cause the tires get a touch to worn for good neutral steer.

That's funny, I was thinking the same thing. He thought he had a lot to read at lunch time

Speaks volumes to the passion he helped create!

fortunately I had jury duty today, so keeping up was easy. Zer0 just needs to read the"best of" basically and I think cheeb laid it out well enough.

I'm giving up MY prize to you and others in the group, so you have a voice. I strongly urge you to use this opportunity, don't waste it.

If it's a track change, then keep the S2000 and go
Fuji Speedway GT, Grand Valley East (Reverse), or Clubman Stage Route 5 (either reg or reverse).

If it's car (and I don't mind the car, or East, I just can't seem to get the 2 to work for me yet), then I'd change to...(?? Maybe... Here are diff't engine set ups to suit you fancy)
Renault Sport V6 24V (looks great with all the aero kits, but...)
Lancia Delta HF
Spoon CR-Z
Mazda '89

Rallywagon

Like to try it on eiger track. Now there's a accident waiting to happen! LOL!

Alas, if I ever won something, I would pick a track and Eiger would be it. Well, some form of it anyway:mischievous:

Then the tie breaker would be the Prize Holder. It's simple and it give the other a voice and a chance to get their favorite car or track in the combo.

This idea would change up all 3 combos every week. So nothing should become "stale" as Diabolic had suggested.

The current Prize C could be given to the top driver (not getting promoted) in Div.2 & Div.3 as a way of knowledging their efforts for doing well, but not getting promoted. I am willing to give this prize out to one of the lower divisions if this idea is approved.

Just a thought.

Meh. If something gets stale then the person with the prize can decide to get rid of it. I prefer to have some races that remain the same/similar because it really gets people keyed in on the combo. That should lead to better lap times and tighter races.

I guess, I'm just more old school I guess. I cant say its my age showing, cause for once I'm not the oldest. However. I think moving up to the next division should be your kudos for racing good. I mean, (and you know how much I love exaggerating) if we are going to reward a driver for moving up to div2, then we really should push for PD and Sony to make it a trophy too. I mean really guys? We are here for the racing. I dont need a damn pat on the back to enjoy racing. Especially with this group. If I bust my arse, day in and out, ignore everything but basic food and facility use, and got good enough to take on Devious and Mopar, I sure as hell wouldnt wanna share my prize with someone who's happy with being down in D3 and doesnt wanna put in the effort to move up. Why should that person share my reward for my hard work? Just saying.

Having all 3 tracks and cars the same every week will get boring. We need to change once in a while to keep everyone up on the wheel, so to speak. Builds your skill level, unless you like D3!??

BTW, these are my thoughts, not yours. And all of my thoughts are IMHO, or not so humble, depending what side of my friends list your on.

Frank man, we do. A new car track combo, and either new car or track, every week.
