One-Make Championship may 19th.

Get ready for an intense championship, featuring 4 different cars on 4 different tracks. Your succes in this race will depend solely on your skill.


General info: The lobby will be opened at 17.00GMT, with the first race starting at 18.00GMT.
Should you wish to participate in the event, you have to sign up in this thread, or by PM to me. Furthermore you have to attend at least one practice session, in order to prove yourself capable of driving clean and fair. There will be plenty of practice sessions to join before the event.

Participants will aquire points based on the position they finish in, in the different races.

1st receives 25 points.
2nd receives 20 points.
3rd receives 15 points.
4th receives 10 points.
5th receives 8 points.
6th and 7th receives 5 points.
8th, 9th and 10th receives 3 points.
0 points for anyone finishing above 10th place.

If you sign up, I expect you to be commited. Should something prevent you from joining, you need to PM me as soon as possible. Furthermore, I expect participants to stay up to date on rules, and to not quit the race under any circumstances. If you can't follow these simple rules, then don't bother signing up. I've had it with people who sign up, only to forget about it the next day.


Event info: This championship is held on four different tracks. All races will be One-Makes, with car model changing for each track. Every race will have tire/fuel wear enabled, with grip set to real and slipstream set to low. Boost will be set to off. For the sake of compitition, grid starting positions will be set to reversed grid, so that the winners of one race, will start at the back of the grid in the next race.


1st. Race: 14 laps with the Lotus Elise '96 on Circuit de Madrid.

Car is to remain stock with the only changes allowed being oil, rims and color. Tires will be Comfort Soft, and damage will be enabled. All aids, including ABS, will be disabled. Yeah, that's right. The real car didn't have ABS, so neither will you!

2nd. Race: 18 laps with the Lotus Elise 111R '04 on Tsukuba Circuit.

Car is to remain stock with the only changes allowed being oil, rims and color. Tires will be Sport Hard, and damage will be enabled. All aids except ABS, will be disabled. How lucky you all are that Lotus decided to include ABS in the 2nd Series of the Elise.

3rd. Race: 10 laps with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR T.M. SCP ’99 on the West section of Chamonix.

Car is to remain stock with the only changes allowed being oil, rims and color. Participants are allowed to tune the AYC and Aerodynamics(stock spoiler) to their own liking. Tires will of course be snow tires, and damage will be disabled. Damage being disabled does not mean you are allowed to just bounce off every wall. Drive properly! All aids, including ABS, will be disabled. Expect snow.

3rd Race results:
1st. MSTER(DQ'd - He won't be given points. Points are destributed as if 2nd was 1st, and 3rd was 2nd.)

4th. Race: 9 laps with the Lexus LFA '10 on the 2009 layout of Circuit de La Sarthe.

Car is to remain stock with the only changes allowed being oil, rims and color. Tires will be Sport Hard, and damage will be enabled. All aids except ABS will be disabled. There won't be any rain during the race, though it will be pitch black, as our race starts at 04.40 at night. Expect to see a nice sunrise when exiting the Dunlop Chicane.

Rules and guidelines: In my events, you're off track as soon as you have less than two wheels on the track(Tarmac). Should you go slightly off track on rare occasions, it's nothing to worry about. However, if you go off track by more than a car width, I expect you to slow down, and re-enter. Of course you should always take care not to re-enter the track right in front of other drivers.

You will of course do your best to drive clean and fair. Should you be responsible for damaging another driver, you will escort him/her to the pits. If you obtain damage to more than one wheel, you are required to pit.

When driving without ABS, you are allowed to alter your Brake Balance. When driving with ABS, it has to remain at stock setting(5/5).

Along the Main Straight you have the red parts to the right and left of the track. Are they part of the track or to be treated as rumble strips?

Well, in real life, I do believe that drivers have to keep at least two wheels on the actual road at all times. Lets just say that participants should try to keep at least 2 wheels off the red part of the road at all times. Drivers aren't allowed to pass on the red part of the track, unless absolutely necessary.

On another note. Drivers should take extreme care to remain on track at the end of the Porsche Curves. It is not okay to go off track in order to carry more speed through a corner. Drivers also need to stay on the actual track at the end of the Mulsanne Straight, and not go beyond the left side of the track in order to get a better entrance into the corner. Also take extra care at the Tertre turn.

On top of all this, beware of any drivers not using ABS. THe LFA is a real bastard to do heavy braking with, espicially at the end of the Mulsanne Straight.

That's such a simple corner yet I don't think I've ever seen a person do it properly. With exception to myself of course

I'm going to skip this one. To much no ABS and i'm not really into rally with GT5. I probably will join the F430 vs Gallardo one you were talking about.
Maybe i'll join some of your practise sessions if you need to fill the starting grid.

I tried the GT academy yesterday and managed to get within the top 2000 at the first 3 tests with the Nissan Silvia. My goal is to beat at least all people in my friends list . A german dude in my list gave me a run for my money, but i got him on the first 3. Now the rest of the tests. Getting within the top 10 is simply not possible with DS3, still 3/10th to half a second down... I didn't bother to try the Leaf test seriously, i just hate that stupid thing.

I've been doing some testing for the Scuderia VS Gallardo, and I'm not sure it would be an even fight. At least not on stock tires. The Gallardo is just soo much more stable.

Maybe Gallardo on Comfort soft, Ferrari on Sport hard? Or medium? May even it out. Of course you then rely on racers to use the correct tires.

Sorry, can't do. The only race that looks interesting to me is the race with the LFA and also maybe the Elise at tsubuka.

How do they compare in laptimes? I did some testing yesterday with the F430 scuderia at Cape Ring South. Tonight i will put the gallardo to the test. As it comes to PP's they are about the same, so they should be just as fast too. From my on-line experience i can say the PP system is flawed. No way you can beat a 550 PP LFA with a 550 PP SLS amg for example.

I didn't do a ton of testing, but In just 1 out lap with the Gallardo, I got a lap time 3 seconds faster than I could get with 3 out laps with the F430. This was done on Spa. I will do more testing tomorrow.

Sport medium certainly evens the playing field. On top of that, I think the Gallardo is harder on the tires.

Don't feel bad, you did better than me. I started an NSX Racing Series championship quite a few days ago, but I don't think not even one contestant has signed up since. If you guys are interested then I guess I could post a link to it. And I would be quite interested in the Ferrari VS Lambo race, not sure which car I would use yet.

I don't know what makes me happier, a lotus without ABS or a daihatsu with ABS . I'm not really into rally driving either, so i still won't join. But don't change the races to my likings, you got to do what you like to do.

I think the vast majority of GT5 players play with ABS (is there a poll on GT planet where this question is asked?) and preferably also with Racing Soft tyres. People who drive with other than racing tyres are in the minority, and those brave enough to drive without ABS and tyres less than the racing compound are a rare breed i guess. Possibly thats why this event will not attract a lot of participants .

Yesterday i did some more testing to compare the Gallardo with other cars. Test track was Cape Ring South with grip set to real and tyre wear off for the sake of comparison. Sports Hard tyres were equipped. I did about 10 to 20 laps with each car, the laptimes below are the fastest one. They're decent, but quicker also is possible.

Hmm a SLS and LFA shootout would possibly be quite close. Maybe this should be kept in mind for a future event.

Well in previous GT games, you was forced to play using ABS. And I guess I am in the minority that doesn't like using racing soft tyres and also in the even smaller minority that's brave enough to drive without ABS on a compound other than racing tyres . People aren't really daring these days, are they?

Well at least in my opinion, Racing Soft tyres are much too grippy to be called realistic. The only type of car they're probably realistic on is Group C cars and that's just about it. It shouldn't even be in the game really, but I can't complain because GT4 had Racing Super Soft / Qualifier tyres !

Yesterdays practice:

Elise '96 - A Nice car and track combination. The car can understeer the pull out massive oversteer sometimes though. The lack of ABS can easily catch you out however.

Elise '04 - The car drives pretty stable with the Sports Hard tires on it. A simple track which will produce a lot of battles. As Jawehawk pointed out yesterday it would be a great race with a full grid.

Mitsubishi - I don't have much to say about this one. I am pretty bad at rally and trying to get this down the straightaway with the "bumps" that feel more like full on jumps is a real challenge.

LFA - Nice car to drive, can understeer and oversteer a lot due to the tires but this coupled with the track makes for a nice challenge. Braking on the straights is the hardest part of this, especially at the start of the race when it will be dark and have a load of cars bunched up.


Overall I'd say Jawehawk picked a nice few races here, the Elise '96 I need practice on and the Mitsubishi is pretty much a write off before I even put my foot down.
