F.I.T.T. Rally and Street Tuner Challenge by MCH

XDesperado67
**snip**

Overall the results are very close except for the 2 poor Clueless entries, they either need a bigger point bump to get them in the mix or else their own category. They are good tunes and krenkme and newdriver took some effort to build them so they deserve some recognition for their efforts.👍👍

On my end this was going to be my car regardless. Clueless rule or not (I think that's why MCH made the rule 👍 ) so I don't need any extra points. I just enjoy tuning the odd balls and killing having the testers work for there enjoyment.

I've put a lot of time into the tune and I have gotten great feedback about it, so I am happy with the way it is going (even though I am last in speed and time... and might have killed some testers :dopey: )

I just wish my rally tune would have been competitive .... and not as deadly :scared:

@MCH:
My apologies. I'm on it.

(Sorry NewDriver, your BTR review will be delayed a bit.)

Street Cars
I picked the Eiger Nordwand Short Track because the short lap times would make things easier on the testers. But, what did I do with the extra time now allowed by testing on a shorter track? I ran all of them twice as long. The same that I did with rally testing, I ran each car for a two or three lap get to know them phase then beat the snot out of them for 10 laps. Below are my results.

XDesperado67 - Mitsubishi CZ-3 Tarmac '01 – 1:13.082
XDesperado at 50% health is still a great tuner. Great car choice, great tune, fast, fast, fast! I was having so much fun driving this tune that I lost track of the laps, looked up and saw that I had driven 15 laps. Fortunately, my fast lap was within the first ten. I can only see one area for the slightest improvement. I wanted the brakes to be a bit more aggressive. I drove this like X says to drive a 4wd. Push it in deep then have the balls to stand on the gas before the apex. But, I am by nature a late breaker anyway, so this tune just didn’t have enough stopping power for my driving style. I could have gone faster with just a bit more. Love this car. Nice tune.

Motor City Hami - Subaru Impreza WRX STI '07 – 1:13.633
I spent way more time with my rally tune. I was just hoping that this one would be able to stay close to the pack. I am really surprised at the times that people are laying down with it.

Trackripper123 - Focus ST170 '03 – 1:14.184
A front drive car that actually turns. Great breaks. Great corner balance. A little lazy on late exit – maybe try a slightly lower LSD Accel or Initial? Overall this tune is fun to drive and pretty quick. The only thing that bothered me a little was the very short 2nd gear. It was distracting and kept breaking my concentration. Between each of the downhill switchbacks, the car will either bounce off the rev limiter in 2nd or you can jump up to 3rd, but also kill some of the corner ability. Good tune.

JTQmopar - Subaru Impreza WRX STi Version '00 – 1:14.265
I smoked some tires to run this time. This is an easy car to run consistent lap times with. All ten laps for me were between 1:14.2 and 1:14.7. Love the green paint color.

CyKosis1973 - Focus ST170 '03 – 1:14.597
Another Focus that turns well. This tune had a little bit less of the corner exit laziness, but it was still there. Must be something programmed into the Focus. A fun ride and good overall tune. Great gearbox. Just a bit less turn-in and mid-corner rotation than Trackripper’s Focus.

DigitalBaka - Toyota CELICA GT-FOUR (ST205) ’98 – 1:14.742
This car feels faster than the lap time shows. I gave it my all, tried so hard, that I am returning her with a few dents. The tune is sooooo smooooth. And feel the power – it just feels like the torque curve lies perfectly across all RPM levels. I loved driving this one. I think the car suffers from PDs programming of the PP levels. I wouldn’t know what to change in this tune to get it into the 1:13s.

NEWDRIVER2 - Nissan SILVIA 240RS (S110) '83 – 1:15.857
Medusa treated me well. I think we may need to have a mini tuner challenge around just these rear drive rally cars. Maybe at Toscana where the hill climbs aren’t as high. Nice ride. Easy to drive.

Krenkme - Renault 5 Turbo '80 – 1:16.172
Nice work Krenkme. This is a driver’s tune. Just hints of throttle oversteer if you get on it too hard. It is a really fun ride. No flaws other than what it is competing against.

Driver’s Choice
Gold - XDesperado67 - Mitsubishi CZ-3 Tarmac '01 – can’t beat fast and fun to drive.
Silver – DigitalBaka - Toyota CELICA GT-FOUR (ST205) ’98 – because I think PD PP programming screwed you
Bronze - Motor City Hami - Subaru Impreza WRX STI '07 – It is my favorite, but X and DB deserve the props for two very well done tunes.

Hi folks, here are my test results. Hopefully I'll do the rally testing in the next few days, then I'll add the times and comments.

Newdriver2- Silvia
Street: 1:15.9
This is a car you can throw around like a rag-doll. Long braking distances. The limiting factor in most cases is rear grip, which makes it great fun. Traction is compromised by the outside wheel spinning (even in 4th gear- yikes!) but this also increases the fun by tempting the driver to see how much throttle steering he/she dares use. Wonderfully raspy engine sound.

Thank you Nomis for you review 👍. Iam happey to see you enjoy it and have fun driving it . And the engine sound that what i like it in this street car .

This car i made another version of it and soon it will be in our garage and it will destroy some of the online cars at her PP . I tunned at 500pp and i test it online its very fast and sharp car scary spicial when you pass another and you so it went far away in your mirror thats all by poor driver but i think if another good driver he will make difernt

MCH , 👍
Thank you for the review good that you came back a live  this words about the drank driver of old time this realy right when ride this Rally car you will fill of that . And i will adjust this suspense again to make it more good and i will invit you to drive it later . Thanks for this good shootout i love it and i wish that i was compatitive :( .

Congrats for all the tunner who works hard in this Rally car and for the tester who drive it which it will lead him to death .

XD thanks for your words and the extra point :tup . I happye with what i got from the drivers comments that they have fun drive this car 👍.

Ron thanks for the BTR review and no problem for the late take your time 👍

Sorry for my english if i write something wrong spilling and also i didn't put the orignal post for my comment because iam on phone app .

Mitsubishi CZ-3 Tarmac
Eiger Nordwand Short Track -**1:13.766**(Lap 5/5)

This car's strengths are in the huge amounts of grip through the corners, particularly on corner exit. Your biggest gains will be made here, 5 more laps and I'd have easily done away with the 0.766 of a sec.

The weakness of this car is the brakes. You'll need to exercise caution under heavy braking, make sure you get the majority of it done in a straight line. Around the rest of the track, you're going to need to use the lightest of touches to keep this car from locking up. It's not horrific, as per above, the car has plenty of grip to dig you out of most situations, but it doesn't make for fast time trialling.

That being said, if you're one of those alien drivers, you'll set some devastating times with this. I'm sure it will prove a hard car to beat, deceptively quick and I was disappointed to see my allotted laps disappear as quick as they did...*

Prime example here of the difference in peoples driving styles and braking preferences.:odd:
Both had good times and liked the car but both had a issue with the brakes, but in opposite directions.:lol:
Really emphasizes my opinion about the brakes in GT5 being one of the most subjective, if not the most, parts of a cars tune. I've heard from some very fast drivers that they almost always leave the stock settings on brakes and having seen some of their times its hard to fault them for it. For example look at Mike_GT3 and the other aliens times with totally stock cars on the ring...

Thanks both of you for your great driving and also to all the rest of you test drivers who are doing such a fine job testing these monsters.👍👍

Link to google docs scoring sheet both below and in post #3.

I will update as soon as I see additional results added. Please let me know if I have missed any results to date. Thanks.

Wish I hadn't looked at that. Now I'm hoping for a 3rd place in the rally section. Damn my foolishness, it'll only end in tears :boggled:

I was a bit upset with this car, it felt alright when I'd 'finished' it, but after having driven every other car in this shootout, it felt .... a bit rubbish :ouch: Thanks for your time and efforts though, glad you enjoyed yourself :)

My pleasure, Sir. I've found massive differences in opinion/driver style since being here. It always fills me with joy when you find that one test driver who drives exactly the way you do and manages to extract everything that you put into the car. I can usually feel the difference between front and rear braking bias, and it can be used effectively to tame or induce under/oversteer going into corners, but provided the balance isn't extreme, then I agree it is probably driver preference...

Points updated on the Google doc. Remaining test drives to be done by the deadline this Sunday.

Rally Test Drives:
DigitalBaka to run his own tune.
Krenkme and nomis to test all tunes.

Street Test Drives:
DigitalBaka & Krenkme to test all tunes.
nomis to complete the final three.
Ronald to run my tune.
JTQmopar may test if time allows.

Also, JTQmopar needs to put his tunes back on share.

I was able to run my rally tune and a few of the street tunes over the weekend and will update late tonight once the small people are in bed. :) I ended up about 1.5 seconds slower than my best in the rally and just about equal on the street. Also, I didn't die in the Renault! :D

Hey, the street tune is much more...umm.."driver friendly"

All testing was done over the weekend for the rally cars (posting them when I can get to my laptop.) And about half of the street tunes (are your cars back up JTQ?). I'll make the deadline :dopey:👍

Having major problems with my internet connection. I hope it will be fixed in time for the tested deadline :nervous:

Finished all of my testing and updated the Google docs results page. So far it would appear that the photo mode community seems to like DigitalBaka's Celicas. If he win's both, he can pass XDespy and climb to 2nd.

Testers, keep testing. Let's finish on time and get Nomis his turn for the 60/40 or 40/60 challenge.

I think everyone likes those Celicas in some way. :) Despite the somewhat oddball looks they are just fun cars. It's too bad we never got the GT-FOUR here in the States...that I know of anyway. I'd love to drive one on the road.

Off to update my post. *zoom*

EDIT: Results updated, hoping to finish up the street cars tonight and tomorrow.

Oh my word..!! I'm not sure I can take much more, will I or won't I make it onto the podium..?? :scared::crazy::nervous::indiff::ill:

If you don't make the podium just blame MCH for rigging the Shootout since it looks like he's going for a clean sweep of 1st all the way around!
Nice job MCH, just wish I could have found a little bit of the needed magic to let all the drivers run my CZ-3s as fast as I know they can go. Granted most of us are generally faster in our own cars because of running so many extra laps while tuning them, but still I'm a bit surprised at how much some have struggled with them, especially the rally car.:odd:

Hami, I've just noticed on the document you've mixed me and Cy up when giving your drivers choice for the rally tunes...

Good for me, or bad for me?? :indiff: I can't access Google docs from work, damn the Great Firewall of Work..!!

Added Drivers Choice to my post. Hope to have it cleaned up this weekend :dopey:

Thank you very, very much, Sir. I look forward to your comments :D

DigitalBaka and Nomis left to test and photo points, it's possible. Start the bribes for their driver's choice. :)

Nice job MCH,

Ye'ah... I love the new points system.

I honestly feel a little bad about leading, but I did spend some time with a bunch of rally cars while setting the PP levels for the competition. I am super surprised at my street tune. My thoughts going in was to win the rally portion and hope for 3rd or 4th in the street.

Hami, I've just noticed on the document you've mixed me and Cy up when giving your drivers choice for the rally tunes...

I can switch that if you want. It may help Cy get to the podium? The driver's choice ranking is 1, 2 3, but for the points sheet to work I had to list them as 1st = 3 points, 2nd = 2 points and 3rd = 1 point.

Added Drivers Choice to my post. Hope to have it cleaned up this weekend :dopey:

Thank you for testing. Google docs updated. Current rankings below:

Motor City Hami 202.359
XDesperado67 201.014
DigitalBaka 200.674
CyKosis1973 200.305
Trackripper123 199.902
jtqmopar 198.197
NEWDRIVER2 192.954
Krenkme 192.168
