I don't like how they are using some of the cars from GTA 4. But then again, they've done that before. Images are looking lovely! Can't wait to throw some cars around the country terrain and cliffs.
It would be kinda odd if they didn't in my opinion. I mean, they're both present day games, so of course some of the cars has to be the same. It's nothing but realistic.

I wish lowriders will make a return, being in LS and all. It was one of my favorite features in San Andreas, to be able to "build" lowriders. A lowrider shop and new versions of Voodoo, Savanna, Blade, Tornado, Tahoma etc would be awesome!

EDIT: What SimonK said. 👍

As Max Payne 3 proved, Rockstar really is a one trick pony, the game flopped because it wasn't GTA.... they should just stick to what they know.

I wouldn't call Max Payne 3 a flop by any means. I mean I wouldn't call 2 million sales a flop... although I assume that R* expected more sales then that.

Also L.A. Noire sold 4.8 million copies and Red Dead Redemption sold nearly 10 million copies so I wouldn't exactly call R* a "one trick pony".

As for GTA V, those screenshots look stunning even though i'm more worried about the game-play than the visuals.

Max Payne 3 was pretty disappointing in Rockstar's eyes, only shifting 440K in its first month in the US when they expected 3mil in that same time period, It actually only managed to get near that figure 3 months later mainly because its already at the bargain bin price of £19.99!

LA Noire took 7 years to make and although did better than Max Payne it again didn't achieve the sales it was supposed to especially when it had such a long development cycle.

GTAIV shifted 10 million copies in 5 months and 22 million copies total, plus took far less time to make. It really makes sense to do the big title sellers especially in this climate, like Activision has realised everything that says 'COD' on it is gold dust.

Even if MP3 and LAN didn't sell so well (compared to GTA, that is), I wouldn't think that that would make them bad games. I mean, the major point is that getting hyped up now isn't an issue, because Rockstar delivers on their games. And, well, I have yet to find a Rockstar game that disappointed me.

After all, I don't consider sales figures to be an indicator of a game's quality, really.

If the water in that Crop Duster pic, looks even 90% close on the console version as it does in that pic.... man..
Release the game already Rockstar!!! heck!, i'll even play it with all the bugs still present and game unfinished.

I just seriously hope there are playable sports, mini games, collectables, large variety of vehicles with multiple generations, gangs, gambling on horse races and casinos, large variety of weapons that are customizable, customizable cars etc.,

Enough to beat SA in replay value. Since '05 I've clocked over 1,000 hours of gameplay.

Robin.
Glad to see no bullshot pictures for a change, those are clearly of the console version and look good considering their age. The PC version (from the original trailer) looks amazing though.... we really need new gen consoles!

Lots of assets for this game will have been amassed from GTAIV, MCLA, LA Noire, Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3. It's pretty much a copy and paste job so hopefully they focus more time on the story.

As Max Payne 3 proved, Rockstar really is a one trick pony, the game flopped because it wasn't GTA.... they should just stick to what they know.

Firstly, what makes you say these are for the console version? And what makes you say the trailer is the pc version?

Secondly, I wouldn't call them a one trick pony either. They are one of the few publishers who don't make a bad game. They made a few in the past, but their recent output has all been excellent. Although, I haven't played mp3. GTA is their biggest franchise, but that's kind of obvious. At least they haven't just been churning out half hearted GTA games every year.

I'd prefer they didn't milk the GTA series, but they seem to know nothing good comes of it (look at Guitar Hero). I hope we get to upgrade skills etc.

Even the worst GTAs weren't bad.

I agree, in no way are RS a one trick pony, and i don't understand why some people think they are.

Because its blisteringly obvious that original trailer is of a quality not possible on consoles and Rockstar would have put its best foot forward for a launch trailer. It's like with Watch Dogs, no one would think that that trailer was from the console version of the game!

Also if these screen shots were of the PC version then they are majorly poor plus they don't look anything like the trailer but are a perfect fit for console quality. I don't think anyone could think that the trailer and the subsequent screenshots are from the same version of the game.

The problem is when you have a major IP you are known for, even if the other stuff you do its OK, the majority of people simply don't care. I feel Rockstar is a one trick pony IN THE PUBLIC'S EYES.... not in terms of their abilities to produce games. If they had called LA Noire, GTA 1940 just on the name alone it probably would have sold more.

Bungie is another example of the studio who thought 'screw it just just make Halo's' and since they have stopped very few care what they do. Whereas 343 can come along with no credentials and can do well off the back of an IP.

The screenshots were poor? Most disagree. And Rockstar aren't a one trick pony. Sure, the GTA brand has serious cache, but looking at their recent output, (and I will stress again that I have not played mp3) it has all been excellent. La noire didn't live up expectations, but it was still an enjoyable game. The same can be said for GTA 4. Rdr was excellent. Out of those three games, you have two solid 8/10's and a 9 or maybe even a ten. Not bad for a "one trick pony".

Now when you get down to sales, you have a point, but sales do not tell the whole story. there have been plenty of great games that have had poor sales. There has also been a lot of tripe (in the games, music, books and movie world) that has been dreadful but sold in droves.

And who, exactly, cares?

I mean, honestly, does it matter what the CoD crowd things about Rockstar? Or the Wii Sport players? If your boss only knows about one of your abilities, does that make you a one trick pony, or does it make your boss an idiot because he doesn't bother to explore your actual potential?

I think pigeons & small birds is about as far as you're to get regarding animals.
Dog in the trailer? I'd like loads of animals like Red Dead, however being GTA you can't harm then. Although being able to obliviate a bear with a mini-gun or RPG would be blistering fun, as long as you could utilise its parts from harvest and sell for cash like Red Dead.

New screens look great I think.

LA Noires gfx were ****ing amazing, I was like whoah. Realy liked it but the end was kinda meh, bit cliche.

I'll bet you $20 that you're wrong. :)

I will take that bet and raise you to $50.00 which will almost cover the price of the game. I have paypal do you? Save this thread and this link and this reply because I am a man of my word and will pay. Will you actually pay when the game does not come out in March 2012? :sly: Just for clarification I am betting it wont come out on March 27th for the US correct?

I'll pay, but I said Summer '12...

So I have until September '12?

I think they've had plenty of time to develop this thing, and just because we're only seeing it now doesn't mean they need to work on it for another 2 years. I give it 6-8 months.

Oh ok I thought you were betting on March 2012. Summer 2012 on the other hand is a different story. Not real likely but could maybe happen. March no way.

I will match your $20.00 bet and say it wont come out summer 2012. If you were going with March I would say $50.00

Soooooooooo... Who's paying up? :sly:

Can we get some sort of screen shot of the transaction, obviously with any personal stuff blanked out? :dopey:

Not me for two reasons. One, I have a grand total of $18 in my checking account which I need for gas to get me the next 2 weeks. And two, it's stupid anyway.

I know Camaro would've payed you if he lost.

I know I'm not involved in this, but that's bad form. Maybe you should speak with camaro about this because if the mods get involved, it could get messy.

How so? Who says I was serious in the first place? Oh I forgot, internet is serious business...

That's not the point. You made the bet. Just get in touch with camaro.

Dog in the trailer?
Like past GTAs, not going to hold my breath at it actually making it in.

Yeah, that's pretty much why you won't be seeing a bear or other animals. GTA causes enough controversy as it is. They're not going to give PETA or any other group another reason to start protesting against them.

That's the biggest BS about today's society. Killing people in a video game? Who cares, that's normal. But god have mercy on a developer who implements killing animals

True, but i'm guessing (pure speculation), developers are worried about influencing (mainly younger) people, to go out into their neighborhood and practice taking pot-shots with a BB gun at peoples pets etc. So i guess they're not that keen on promoting such a thing.
I have to admit, i wasn't too keen in GTA SA about shooting the pigeons, even though they're considered vermin... and yes i know "it's only a game".
