Who says I was serious in the first place? I'll make real bets with family and friends, but generally a "bet" online is a joke.

Not to me it isn't. If I make a bet, I follow through with it. The sad part is, I noticed in the "show off your latest purchase" thread that you spent a $50 best buy voucher around the time you backed out of the bet. You might not have had any money, but you could have given him that.

I think you said so yourself

I'll pay, but I said Summer '12...

So I have until September '12?

Time to pay your $20 fella. Put your money where your mouth is

Agreed. It wasn't my bet after all but just making a moral point. If a certain someone reports any news or just comments on anything I'll need some independent confirmation though. Just in case he was joking!

Quite. If you don't plan to ante up, don't bet in the first place. There's a German saying that goes "Wettschulden sind Ehrenschulden". It means that an honorable man pays his debts, especially if it was a bet.
And both have completely different effects on the user...
I feel, comparing an M-rated game with an M-rated movie would have been a fairer comparison, that would have made more sense.
And both laws are in place for the absolute same reason: To protect kids from things that can't be deemed safe for them to do. Simple as that.
Or... 'why?'.
More features and more content without the need to go out of your way to specifically develop it.
Hunting indeed would be a purpose.. (it is for RDR), but can't really see it serving a purpose in GTA though, unless the animals were there to attack you. Then i'd say, fair enough.
Being a sport works well enough in real life, as far as purposes go. It does for a variety of other games, as well.
Yes, the PEGI ratings are there for a reason, so us adults can enjoy adult games without the worries about minors playing them.
What i'm saying is: Rockstar know that minors get hold of the game regardless of the strict rating, so therefore Rockstar probably realise (or take into consideration) that there's maybe some content that they shouldn't put in the game.
So, you think that Rockstar, who've been creating games that are entirely unsutable for children and filled to the brim with content that's entirely unfit for minors, are limiting themselves because hurting animals would be oh so influential on kids?

Honestly, if they were worried about what's gonna happen to kids who're playing GTA, do you honestly think they'd be promoting violence against humans, drug abuse, car theft, armed robbery and whatnot? And keep in mind that those things aren't exactly things that have never been commited by minors.

It's just illogical to think that someone who's creating a game like GTA is worried about what effect hurting animals would have on kids - especially if that very same developer put that exact same feature into another game they've created. Really, why on earth would Rockstar not be worried about having that stuff in RDR if your theory was correct?
I'm not insinuating it would be the fault of the company who rated the movies..
Just stating that whether you choose to believe or not (black & white perspective), that grey area's do infact exist. even if it doesn't within the eyes of the law.
Those "grey areas" aren't exactly grey areas. They're not even loopholes or anything. They're just people doing what they aren't supposed to. How's that a gray area?

Pirating isn't a gray area, either, even though hundreds of thousands of people are doing it every day without getting punished. Doesn't change the fact that it's a 'black area', whether people care or not.

@ Luminus.

(Can't be bothered to quote you, as i see it as a waste of my time).

I was just giving a possible reason of why we might not see it, in GT5... simple as that really.

Grey area? Okay i admit, i was wrong there, as the term "grey area" doesn't correctly explain what i was getting at.... So, my bad, my mistake.

I won't bother commenting any further on the subject, as i feel people are probably annoyed that this conversation has strayed too far off topic (with reference to underage drinking/film ratings etc).

So i think we should leave it at that, and both look forward to the game.

Agree?

Oh please god no. The driving physics in L.A Noire were absolute crap, the cars had no feel what so ever. They just sort of floated along. :yuck:
That's because L.A. Noire was developed by Team Bondi, not Rockstar.

I really liked LA Noires pyshics. I'd prefer V be somewhere in between Vice City and San Andreas.

I just hope this game will be more similar to San Andreas that GTA 4.
I enjoyed GTA 4 a LOT, I have spent many many hours on that game but there are quite a few things that were lacking in the game compared to San Andreas.
Customisable cars, I can remember always getting a Voodoo, taking it to the garage and modifying it.
The lunacy, bring back cheats like Mega punch, 50ft high bunny hops, pedestrians riot, all cars pink, flying cars, tanks, unlimited ammo.....the list goes on and on. These cheats made San andreas my favourite game of all time. I hope they bring at least some back.
Also GTA 4 is all urban, that's all it is. But in San Andreas you had I think it was 3 main cities, and then the rest was fields, mountains, hills and some villages spread about.

Basically there was just soooo much more variety in San Andreas that made GTA 4 in comparison kind of boring.

^^Desert too. That's how I feel. I don't care about GFX so much as how much content there is.

So I have until September '12?

I think they've had plenty of time to develop this thing, and just because we're only seeing it now doesn't mean they need to work on it for another 2 years. I give it 6-8 months.

Oh ok I thought you were betting on March 2012. Summer 2012 on the other hand is a different story. Not real likely but could maybe happen. March no way.

I will match your $20.00 bet and say it wont come out summer 2012. If you were going with March I would say $50.00

I will take that bet and raise you to $50.00 which will almost cover the price of the game. I have paypal do you? Save this thread and this link and this reply because I am a man of my word and will pay. Will you actually pay when the game does not come out in March 2012? :sly: Just for clarification I am betting it wont come out on March 27th for the US correct?

R1600Turbo,
Its September 2012 and as I said 1 year ago (October 25 2011) when they announced GTA5, GTA5 did not get released by September 2012. My paypal account is waiting for your $20.00. :sly:

EDIT: I will even take the payment in the form of a $20.00 microsoft points card if thats easier for you. :)

I am a man of my word and if this would have come out by now, I would have paid. And you know dang well that if I hadnt paid, you would have been all over me.

In fact I posted this in the "ut oh I made a ludicruos claim thread". :sly:

Back on topic. The recent pics of this game are looking very very good. Huge graphic jump from the previous games. I also heard we will be able to buy houses again like in San Andreas and Vice City. Sounds like they truly listened to the community when building GTA5.

They better make it good or things aren't going to end well lol.

Here's another thing for anyone bitching about graphics. Would you rather have this?

I honestly believe they left many things out of GTA IV so that they wouldn't set the bar too highly for GTA V.

They set the bar with the release of San Andreas, and it's undoubtedly going to be compared to SA unpon release. So unless it exceeds SA in terms of content and replay ability, it's going to be trash. But we know just from what R* has shown in the screens and trailer its not going to be that way.

It's been over 3 weeks now so I can't wait to see what they have cooked up this time. There is just bound to be something new soon :D. I pray for a new teaser trailer or something :).

Those graphics were pretty good for back then!
And I still hope in V they will include WEAPON SILENCERS!! A MUST HAVE FOR THE 21st CENTURY.

👍

If I remember GTA4 correctly, the driving wasn't any better than LA Noire. So there's still a steep climb up ahead.

GTA IV driving physics were much better than LA Noire. Old vintage cars in LA Noire drove like go karts, much worse unless you go for that sort of thing.

I can't comment on LA Noire but GTAIV had great driving physics the cars react to everything be it road surfaces, weather (Rain) and bumps etc. Also you couldn't charge full speed into bends like you can in MC LA, you actualy have to brake and judge the bend properly. The ways the cars deform so uniquely in crashes was also great.

If GTAV somehow improves on that a tiny bit in every area I'd be a very happy boy.

much worse unless you go for that sort of thing.

I guess I do. I felt like GTA IV's driving was too sluggish and the braking distances were a bit too long.

And I still hate that all the reviewers gave the game a 10. I wonder if the same will happen here.

That makes sense. It was also their first game on the next gen of consoles. BUT a huge step backward for the series. They removed a LOT of the features that made GTA so fun over all the years. The campaign was barely GTA imo.

If they really want to go all out and set the bar for GTA5, they need to bring EVERYTHING from San Andreas and Vice City. To top it off even more they could make the game a full co-op campaign. THAT would be the ultimate GTA game. Until they do that, Saints Row 2 and Saints Row 3 remain the top sandbox titles IMO. Crackdown 1 and 2 are also very impressive. In fact Crackdown 1 was the innovation for a FULL online co-op sandbox campaign. No other game successfully pulled it off until Crackdown 1. That game was pure sandbox innovation. I hope GTA5 pulls out some innovation of its own. But its going to take a heck of a lot to top SR2/SR3 and Crackdown in terms of online co-op sandbox fun.

I just want cars in GTA V to be more planted to the ground than GTA IV.
