Not sure why anyone would believe out of nowhere that they'd release a public beta. Or that the facebook page was official, I mean they posted meme photos earlier.

^^Can't believe I fell for that...

Heres an interesting point, but still speculation about 3 cities in V.

Yes, we're parched for any Grand Theft Auto V news; and Rockstar hasn't exactly been forthcoming with them. In saying that, a user by the name of xhi4 in Grand Theft Auto fansite GTAForums, speculates why Rockstar has seemingly shown us three cities in the screenshots and trailer they've released so far.

Now, I'm not saying he's right but what he does state does make sense. It's up to you to decide if you want to believe them or not.

In the trailer, you can see that the cars are going to Interstate 5 - Los Puerta Freeway; which refers to the real-life Interstate 5 that connects Los Angeles to San Francisco and the rest of the West Coast. Also of note, the sign says "north" and San Francisco is north of L.A....a coincidence? I think not.

Xhi4 states that in a nutshell, he believes Rockstar showed this purposely to subtly hint that there is more to come.

Rockstar has already showed us screenshots of flying vehicles, so does that mean there will be airports in GTA V, too? Well, here's xhi4's reasoning for it.

Even in San Andreas they had to have an airport for the planes, multiple airports in fact. Did you see how freaking fast that Jet was in the trailer? If that plane is going to be zipping around that fast just for one city. What's going to happen? After the vineyards and huge mountain, you immediately start flying over water? I don't think so...

Also, R* have previously stated that there is no point in having planes for one city, especially with realistic planes....

Next up, we have another screenshot and it might hint at another area of Grand Theft Auto V as well.

Looking at the leftmost side of the scren, it seems it alludes to a desert of some kind and further proof (?) that Grand Theft Auto V will have more than one city in the game.

To read more of his hypothesis, click here.

Do you think his ideas have merit to them or is he just clutching at straws? Hopefully, Rockstar released actual info soon so we don't have to grope in the dark, no?

He brings up a good point with the jet comment. Unless the final product puts forth a slower version of that plane (and it might) you'd think you'll cross the whole map in less than 10 seconds. Even the Hydra in San Andreas would take a reasonable amount of time to get from point to another.

Well they've already said it's going to be the biggest map in the series. I have no doubt that the other 2, or possibly 2 or more new cities will be in the game. I think R* is just playing with our heads so it will be more of a suprise when details are released.

Didn't they only say it will be the biggest "game" (whatever that means)?

They've stated both. Numerous times. Rockstar themselves has stated that the map will be the biggest of any game they've ever produced.

And to be honest, it would have to be in order to be able to fly planes without crossing the map in 2 seconds. The could slow them down but it wouldn't feel right.

Where? I remember them saying it will be the biggest game. The only thing I remember them saying about the map is that it was "very big".

I distinctly remember reading something about the size of the actual map as opposed to the game as a whole. Something about it being up to three times bigger. But this is pure speculation.

I think it was in GamesMaster. Something along the lines of "it will take three times as long to get from one extreme corner of the map to the opposite one".

Well I hope that that is true. Rockstar haven't revealed much about it so some magazines have resorted to posting rumours. I'm really looking forward to this game. I hope we get more info soon.

Rockstar are very good at keeping their cards close to their chest, especially so with a game as anticipated as this. I doubt we'll get anything substantial until we're actually near the release date.

Well if the recent "leak" on a date is anything to go buy, I'd say we'd be getting stuff soon. At this rate, I wouldn't put it past them to announce a bunch of stuff on the *shudders* 1 year anniversary of the trailer.

Besides, from what we've seen from screenshots and the trailer, I wouldn't doubt that there is other cities and little towns in between.

Think about it this way. We have seen the freeway that bears a striking resemblance to the one that connects L.A. to San Diego. A few times now. They wouldn't put an emphasis on that if it didn't mean something. Then, what about the Hydra we've all seen? Theres a naval base and a air base in San Diego...and one of the screens has a Hydra headed in that direction. This is all pure speculation of course but I think theres something they are hiding and won't say anything until the reveal.

In other news, it seems Rockstar has yet again paired up with Techicolor. Apprently they help with the animations on Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3. This is going to get interesting.

Well there probably will be little conurbations here and there; this game is Los Santos and a combination of Flint/Red County. But I wouldn't expect any other major, major population centres aside from LS itself.

Like I said it's pure speculation. I'd bve ok with one big ass city if it was done right but as I've said a lot before, it's going to get compared to SA a lot and if they aren't there, well it could tarnish it a bit and people would be upset in that aspect. Either way it's going to sell assloads of copies.

Anybody who thinks that it's going to be the complete SA is an idiot who should pay attention to the news releases.

You're right though, it'll sell a shedload of copies. I'll most definitely be one of them.

Same here. I'm not saying it will be a copy of SA at all but I know of a who people who want everything it had and more, me kind of being one of them with the exception of the cities. Would it be nice? You bet. Will it happen? Probably not. Wouldn't hurt to include them or more. If they go with one giant one, it better be bigger than GTA IV's map and still have the extra terrain around it.

I would love me some off-roading all right...

Pure speculation, but several UK stores and even Gamestop have listed GTA V's release date to be March 1st of next year. Great because my birthday is 7 days after =P

Also, the December cover of Game Informers magazine is GTA V, so I would expect a large blowout of details.

Game Informer guys are at Rockstar NY now apparently. I am looking forward to what they publish.

Im thinking something big coming out on the one year aniversory of the first trailer. We just have to wait and see.
Yes I am expecting them to start releasing at least a few more pics and info real soon especially with it on the cover of the December Game Informer magazine. If they start releasing more info then I give this game about 6 more months and it will be released. Only a guess. The date could easily get bumped. But I wouldnt bet on it.

If it's at in March then it would be about 4 months...I really think the anniversary will be a be to-do as far as this game.
