Premise:
This is based on an idea that cc570 came up with... but has not gotten together. So I have been forced to come up with my own.
Racers will match up for 1-to-1 battles with up to 3 different racers, within the alotted time range, at each racer's convenience of scheduling, and report the results of these rival matches.

Schedule:

The times denote opening times & deadlines for scheduling your battles with opponents, and reporting your results. There is no set time which you must race, it's entirely up to you and your opponents to race when it's convenient. 👍

Rounds & Events info here:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=7573749#post7573749

The events can be completed with other racers any time within the time frames specified for those events.

Phouchg gives a good set of instructions here:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=7581758#post7581758

Participants may join in at any time during the season, but will obviously start behind early adopters in points.
Each Event will only require matched opponents to meet for less than an hour to complete the event. Matched opponents may complete 1 event at a time, or 2 events within the round in one session with the same opponent.

Rounds
Rounds will consist of 2 events, in which racers have nearly 2 weeks to complete their match-up battles.
Events
Events will consist of 1 car matched to 1 track for that event.

Opponent Matching:
Opponents will match up for event battles with other racers, and race each event in each round in a maximum of 3 matches per event.
Matching with the same 3 opponents for both events in a round is allowed, but not necessary. (ie: opponents may choose to match up for both events in a round, or to choose other matches for each event, or any combination thereof)

Scoring Points:
Race Points:
1st place: 5
2nd place: 3

Points tallied for each event.
Only your best 2 matches in an event will be counted. If you complete 3 matches, your poorest of the 3 will be dropped from the season scoring tally.
(Allowing for those with limited time to participate, difficult matching schedules, and allowing for racers to accept less than ideal matches at times.)
Example, you race 3 different people in an event. All events results will be posted. But only your points from your best 2 matches will be counted for season points. (Which matches count for your opponents will not matter to your score.)
Note: The pre-season qualifying round event points tallies will be handled just like a round, and posted, but they will not count toward season cumulative points.

Races to be conducted in VCRC lounge if the lounge is available.
If the VCRC lounge is not available when you would like to race, you may use the lounge of PSN: redshifting
Custom tracks will be shared on these accounts as well.
Please be sure to add both:
PSN: VCRC
PSN: redshifting

Spectators:
Spectators are allowed to enter the lounge(s) watch, but not to interfere in any way with racing between matched opponents.
Mics should be switched to off during qualifying and racing, and no text chat is allowed during qualifying and racing.

Car Regulations:
Tuning: Prohibited
Stock Tires
Allowed: oil change, engine rebuild, chassis restoration, wheel rims, & paint

Race Regulations:
All aids off except ABS (driver's choice)
tire wear on
damage light
slipstream weak
grip real
penalty off
boost off
visible damage off

Race Procedures:
Races to be held in VCRC lounge if the lounge is available, you may also use PSN: redshifting lounge
(if both lounges are unavailable at the time you would like to race, a lounge of one of the racers may be used)
Qualifying: Drivers allowed 2 timed laps, then park, stay on track until race start
Race #1 : Fastest First
Race #2 : Reverse Grid Order
Race #3 : Reverse Grid Order

Tracks:
Each event will have specifications for track settings and laps.

Rules:
GTP OLR Rules
Please familiarize yourself with these rules prior to racing.

Racers will all score opponents based upon their experience racing in each match. Scoring should be based upon adherance to Track Etiquette and level of Sportsmanship Integrity.
  • You are expected to behave like sporting gentlemen at all times. Dirty driving is absolutely forbidden.
  • If you cause a contact, you must make contact concessions. ie: no bump-passing
  • Caution must be exercised when re-entering the track after an off-road excursion or spin caused by any reason.
  • Carless driving, recklessness, & aggressive risky maneuvers are strongly discouraged, and will certainly result in your fellow racers being ill tempered, and inclined to score you poorly for Track Etiquette & Sportsmanship Integrity
  • The in-game penalty system is switched to off to prevent ghosting, with the understanding that GTPlanet racers do not need the in-game penalty system to follow posted track rules. Shorting the track is strictly prohibited, must have 2 wheels on the tarmac (or at least rumble curbing) - this includes "going wide"; ie: off-roading in the grass or dirt, or using tarmac outside the parameters of the track, is forbidden. If off-roading occurs by accident, throttle lift is both expected and mandatory to avoid being scored poorly for Track Etiquette & Sportsmanship Integrity.
  • Mics should be switched off, and no text chat should occur while racing, by racers or spectators.
  • You may discuss races in the thread, but any bitter rivalry disputes should be kept off the public thread and conducted in Private Messaging, and reported to the race director and/or appointed league stewards.
To sum up the "spirit" of the rules:
"Integrity before victory." - Trackbound7

Opponent Track Etiquette & Sportsmanship Integrity Scoring:
For each match of an event, racers will give their opponent a score: 1,2,3,4,5
TE&SI Points = 1 = Not Good, 2 = Okay, 3 = Good, 4 = Very Good, 5 = Excellent
There will be standings listed for these points. Clearly having good scores in this area will make it easier for you to find matches for each event!
Opponent TE&SI SCORING IS NOT OPEN FOR PUBLIC DISCUSSION.
If you have a problem or confusion with the way you've been scored, contact your opponent privately via private messaging to inquire about it.

Results Posting Instructions:
Each racer will post the results of their matches, because of Opponent TE&SI scoring, and for quality control purposes on the results.
All results are to be posted in the following format, please copy/paste and insert the relevant information in place of "-X-". (This is to allow me to easily cull the results from the thread.)

RESULTS REPORT

This pre-season round does not count for season points.
BUT, it's a good way to have some practice with the format 👍

I can only come on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. :/

Well you can arrange your battles whenever you want to find other racers who can meet up with you at your times.

For example... I will likely be able to match up with you on weekends. :) 👍
(And we've had such good battles in 1-to-1 racing, that I had you in mind as a preferred rival!)

This sounds Hugely fun! I got to be in it. Impressed by the work you do to make things like this series, it's massive. Especially like that i can plan my battles whenever it's possible.

You never wrote how to sign up i think but i'll do as usual:
Phouchg / xNikodemusx / Mustard Yellow (yes all cars..)

Since you didn't pick the one car i don't have I also already own every car in the list. :)

Initial D style racing? Yes please.

Haha yeah, for some weird reason we're always near each other on the grid.

Anyway, about the races, I don't have to come to all of them, correct? Becasue I would absolutely love to race in this. (Reminds me of Vintage Mixer ;))

You got the part where you'd be teaming up with people when both of the 2 racers can manage it in their schedule, right?
Hopefully we'll have plenty of sign-ups to choose from to match up with.

If you schedule your match-ups well, and only do the 2 match-ups & rely on that for your score... Theoretically, someone could probably spend an average of approximately 1-1/2 hours per week on this, and still be very competitive for league points.
As with any league, the more you race, the better your chances at scoring.
But I think this is really one of the most flexible scheduling & non-time-demanding leagues someone could possibly find to race in! :)

So have I explained this okay? :nervous:
Anyone else have any specific questions?

Be sure to tell your friends!
Clearly, the more participants, the better the racing, and the more flexibility for scheduling desirable match-up battles. 👍

So I need to match up with someone. 👍

You'll match up with up to 3 people per event.
Doesn't have to be the same 3 people every event, but it could be.

So for example...
The pre-season event...
Pre-Season Qualifying Round Event
Friday 7 September -to- Wednesday 13 September
22:00 UTC/GMT (6pm US EDT / 3pm US PDT / 11pm UK BST)
Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe (Type-1) '68
Comfort Medium Tires
3 laps @ Rome, per race

You will meet up with 2-3 different people to run the event with, in one-on-one races.
Perhaps you choose Sonygamer455, watermelonpunch, & aceboy127, because you consider us desirable rivals and we can race when you're available...
Assuming we agree to match up with you, you plan to meet up with each racer at some point within the time frame specified...
in the case of the pre-season event:
You would need to have your battles with these racers and report the results by Wednesday 13 September @ 22:00 UTC/GMT (6pm US EDT / 3pm US PDT / 11pm UK BST)

BTW: MY whole reason for having the Wednesday deadline then the next round start on a Friday is to give me ample time to cull & collate the results & tabulate the tally & such in between rounds.
Because who you match up with may depend upon the standings.
(Particularly if we get enough racers for divisioning.)

I am interested.

Handlebar / HandlebarMustash / US Eastern (EDT/EST)

Avail, generally:

After 7pm Monday, 5 pm Tues/Friday, Weds unlikely. After 8:30 (maybe) Thurs. Non-soccer game mayhem Sat, Sun (not Redskins games).

MSTER is faaaast! :P I want slow competitors.. haha naa just kidding, i'll try to find good matches. :)

You can pick 3, it's just that you race only one other racer at a time.
How can I make this more clear in the OP?

And you go and invite people to throw it down with you. :)

Pre-Season Qualifying Round Event
Friday 7 September -to- Wednesday 13 September
22:00 UTC/GMT (6pm US EDT / 3pm US PDT / 11pm UK BST)
Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe (Type-1) '68
Comfort Medium Tires
3 laps @ Rome, per race

You can start now arranging to meet up with people for the 1-on-1 throw downs. :)
This means that you need to race your opponents, should they accept, by no later than Wednesday 13th September & we will have to post the results no later than 6pm US Eastern daylight time on that day.

I've been putting time zones in the sign-up list, so that you can get an idea of who you might ask to race and when.

A really easy way to do this is to send a PM, or use the person's "profile visitor messages" to make arrangements, personally.
Though you can do so in the thread as well. 👍
But the person you're inviting will get a notification when the sign onto GTPlanet if you call them out personally w/ a pm or visitor message. :)
Good when inviting someone to make plans to match-up... to include your availability. 👍
Such as "I'm available weekday evenings after 8pm EDT." or "I'm available Saturday afternoons CEST".

MSTER is faaaast! :P I want slow competitors.. haha naa just kidding, i'll try to find good matches. :)

 I'm not calling you out in the Ghia that's for sure! :scared:
Not after today's races with you zooming past me!

ANyway, that's why we're having the pre-season qualifying event, so people can have a dry run, and figure out the strategy for picking partners for each event.

And of course you'll drop your lowest of 3. So it behooves everyone to get 3 matches in, even if one of your matches is pretty tough.

I hope this makes sense:
Example, you race 3 different people in an event. All events results will be posted. But only your points from your best 2 matches will be counted for season points. (Which matches count for your opponents will not matter to your score.)
What this means is that if I was hard pressed to get a 3rd match-up, I might be inclined to race you even though I don't know that I have a chance with you... And my races with you would be dropped from the scoring, but you, on the other hand, would be able to keep that match for points if you did well.
And it might be worth the risk because well, you know, you could be tired or having a bad day, or a badger might run out in front of your car, and I might actually do well. One never knows.

If MSTER is really fast then I'd love to race with Melon or if he signs up, John Wells. Everyone else will easily beat me  I want someone who won't be like ah, I'm totally going to win this no matter what, because they will.
