TURTLE RACING LEAGUE - FLEX Racing Series - ACCEPTING MEMBERS!

Nuts, I can't decide on a pit strategy again. Do I want to 2 stop the race or 3 stop it? The tires hold up pretty well, but they tend to drop off dramatically when they do start to get worn.

Turn 1 is tough to get a read on. It took me a couple of laps to find my breaking point. But I had to remember to get on the binders a little bit earlier as the tires wore. Even then, I went lawn mowing a couple times.

Even though I downloaded the Stingray when it came out, I hadn't taken it for a drive yet until tonight. Overall, it seems to handle pretty well. It is on racing tires, though. So I don't really know how well it is supposed to drive stock until I take it to the Ring on its sports hards. Should be fun. :dopey:

Is there a reverse grid race after the first race just like the other series'

No, it is one 2 hour race. Now, if some of you guys want to hang around and do another one "Reverse Grid" you may. :D I'm going to go to bed. If you do decide to do another one

Haha I'm glad to hear that, if there was I bet I would be tired  well see u at tonight's race! Good luck!

I was looking for the room, but couldn't find it :(

You have to go to the "Community" tab and find the appropriate Turtle account and click on it then click on the coffee cup then join. We use private lobbies not open lobbies so do not go to the open lobby section. We race again tonight. Several of us will warm up in Turtle Town before the race. Make sure you can find us before the race that way you will know you are in the right place. See you there!

Great race last night! Choate absolutely torched us again, lapping the entire field with 5 to go. Nicely done. 👍

Personally, I had a great battle for about 5 laps with Martin with a little under 15 to go for 2nd. It took several tries to finally get around him in turn 1. After Choate lapped me with 5 to go, I had a little off course excursion into the sand. It seemed like it took forever to get out of it and put Garage-Father right on my back bumper. :nervous: He pushed me hard, and I thought there was no way I was going to be able to hold him off. Somehow I kept him at bay and secured 2nd, barely.

I was running 1:36's throughout most of my runs and was losing almost a second a lap to Choate. How in the world do you run that fast?? And Garage-Father, how many laps did you do on that last stint? I thought I pitted later, but you caught up to me despite having (what I believed to be) older tires.

Also wanted to add that I felt the lapped cars were very courteous during the race, so thank you for that.

All in all, I had a great time last night. Can't wait for next week! :dopey:

Thank you Dolph. The places I noticed that I was quicker more than others was turn 4. Everyone seemed to be going really wide in the middle and this was causing a late application of the throttle.

Yes the lapped guys were gracious in giving room.
I cut the gas a little too close as I only had about 4 liters left in the tank.

I think my quick lap was a 1:34.9 and my average on good tires was a 35.2. The big thing with the longer runs is to be a bit patient in the first few laps and conserve the tires for the length of the run. If you go for a really quick time for 2-3 laps might lower your fastest lap by a tenth or so but the tires will fall off at an exponential rate later, and causing you to lose anoth 1/2 second or more per lap.

You say that, and yet you still pulled away from me those first 2-3 laps. Do you feel that GT Academy helped you in that regard? I mean, obviously you were fast before the competition, because that's how you got in. But did what you learned from the real driving experience translate back into GT5? I imagine it would be an obvious answer, but I'm just curious. :)

Dolph, Some of the tactics I learned at the academy translated but in reality the things I learned in Gt5 translated directly to what I was doing in real life. Really, the racing simulation Grand Prix Legends and NR2003 I give all the credit for teaching me how to drive the way I do. In GPL it was how to drive with too little grip with no room for error. NR2003 I learned tire management and how to drive the car with the rear axle. I would "back" the car into the corners using the weight transfer to corner.

I never had the pleasure of using a wheel for the Nascar games, and I never got a chance to play Grand Prix Legends. Even then, it was still tremendously fun and seemed to be realistic. Papyrus knew how to make their racing games. It's a shame EA Sports came along and bought the licensing rights, effectively killing off any chance for another realistic Nascar game. :grumpy:

Race Recap
Another week and another Pole/Win for Choate51. He was absolutely dominating the enduro lapping everyone on track. Nice race 👍. There were many battles throughout the race. Dolph, martin, and Garage-father all had their turns at one another with a very close finish for second and third place between DolphDrago and Garage-father. Very well raced, respectable and cleanly 👍. Mid pack had micantony, Psycho-Tuber, and ph1sher toggling positions throughout the race as well. Pit stop strategy and tire wear had a drastic effect in this race. Most opted for a 2 or 3 stop strategy and those that were able to conserve their tires better reaped the rewards. Unfortunately shred-tec had to park it around lap 34 and Fordracing was not able to finish. Thanks to everyone for coming out!

I will be hosting practice tonight at 9:30 PM EST in Turtle Town after F1 practice. We will be driving 2010 or 2011 Nascars your choice.
