Sorry if this has already been discussed.

Eurogamer: I appreciate you're not here today to talk about GT5, but is there anything you can say about how development's going?

Kazunori Yamauchi: I want to release it as fast as I can, but GT5 for us, when you talk about its status, it's at a point we can release it any time we want, but we can always keep working on it. It's very important for us to make sure everything is done perfectly and everything is done in detail.

I do not understand why it was not on the show floor and more importantly a release date was not given. I assume it was because Sony and PD wanted GT Portable to get the hype but at the end of the day GT5 is the bigger and more important game. I am just getting that little bit bitter now. I honestly think this game will make it out this year if you have a look at the PS3's line up.

Sony are releasing Ratchet and Clank: ACIT, Uncharted 2 and MAG but that is it. GOW III, Heavy Rain, and TLG have all been pushed back to 2010. Sony seems ready to give GT5 the limelight. It's coming latest March 2010 and that would mean GOW III vs GT5.....why would Sony do that?

I dunno probably clutching onto straws here but after that comment by Yamauchi I simply have no clue about what is going on. Surely TGS announcing the release date for years end would not be enough time to build hype and marketing to the average joe?

Just as Amar said, back in Feb-march the game was finishing up.

Eurogamer: One of the things that stood out in Microsoft's press conference was the Forza team saying it was the definitive simulation racer. How do you feel about that?

Kazunori Yamauchi: I don't exactly know what their announcement was about, but we've evolved over 10 years through our history, towards GT5, and I don't know if it's something that can be compared.

I like how KY didn't throw a cheap shot back towards turn10/Forza.

Theyre just waiting for pigs to fly and hell to freeze over :P Nah, I think theyre not giving it the attention it deserves because they dont want to overshadow the release of GT mobile and the PSP Go.... If they hyped up GT5 now and gave a lot of info no one would go out and buy GT mobile... I think once the PSP GO is launched and GT mobile is out we will ALL of A SUDDEN hear a release date for GT5...

Oh man, that is the worst thing knowing that its finished

Well I don't think it ever will be finished (in KY's mind) but it's releasable.

To be honest I don't think they have been doing any serious work into the PSP version until recently, for PD I don't think it is such a huge project to transfer GT4's assets over and make it work. I think the modelling team is still working on cars, parts, tracks etc for GT5. Which we will get in future GT's in one form or the other.

For a franchise as big as GT the number of employees is pretty small (under 150). Does anyone know how many employees Turn 10 has? Sony would do well do increase the workforce and release a flagship GT game every 3 or so years.

Maybe Sony and Yamauchi are indeed waiting for Christmas. :P

yea, its good that its finished or near finished

But its hard knowing that the reason we can't play is not because its not ready

Maybe they were waiting to find out the release date for Forza Motorsport 3. October then?

However, in reality the GT5 release date is almost certainly now just a marketing issue with other PSP and PS3 games.

To answer your question I would say: “ Getting GT Mobile out of the way.”

I don’t think GOW and GT5 aren’t direct competitors. They’re both solid franchises, and their respective fans will take the game whatever the timing I think. For newcommers, I don't see what's wrong with having multiple appealing titles.

With an October 1 release date for GT Mobile, there is still room for PD to showcase GT5 and get us all surprised.

Following Amar’s riddles, a 2009 launch is not out of the picture. (as does the above KY statement)

Thinking of it : “cooking” + “birds” = “Thanksgiving”?

So this means every car and track for GT5 is done, and all they're doing now is the finishing touches and polishing? I'm starting to believe we will actually see this game out this year! :)

Why would a Croatian on an international website, talking about a Japanese developer, use 'Thanksgiving' as a reference at all? :odd:

Seems PD never really seem to finish any GT game. They just keeping working towards KY's 'vision' and every now and again Sony push them in bundling up whatever they've done so far and releasing it to the public.

I like how KY didn't throw a cheap shot back towards turn10/Forza.

Too much class for that.

Forza 3 delivers the thrills our competition can't. FORZA 3 IS THE DEFINITIVE RACING GAME FOR THIS GENERATION. Forza 3 is the BEST looking racing game on ANY console. FORZA 3 IS THE DEFINITIVE RACING GAME FOR THIS GENERATION. Forza 3 is the BIGGEST racing game of this generation. FORZA 3 IS THE DEFINITIVE RACING GAME FOR THIS GENERATION. Forza 3 brings you what NO OTHER racing game can. FORZA 3 IS THE DEFINITIVE RACING GAME FOR THIS GENERATION. The best graphics and physics. The hottest cars. FORZA 3 IS THE DEFINITIVE RACING GAME.

Those idiotic comments really ruined the Forza 3 demo for me. If you make a good game then you'll get the kudos and recognition you deserve. But don't cram this rubbish down my throat about how awesome you think you are.

KY is a bit of a perfectionist. He won't release the game until he's happy with it, and he strikes me as being very, very difficult to please. He wants to give us the best game he can, and he's always looking for way to satisfy that dream.

I mentioned this is another thread, but they're probably waiting until the PS3 slim comes when they start to make a profit on it.

They still make a loss on the current model, so what what would be the point releasing a huge game like GT5 now when they're going to lose money?

I think this does reaffirm to me that TGS is where we will see a GT5 blowout, with a December 1 release.

I do wish though, whilst we wait for GT5 to be released, that they'd give us something new to play with in GT5P - I'd pay a small amount for some additional DLC to keep me amused...

Agreed, I think Forza 3 will be a very good game, but the press conference was a total turn off, it looked as if they were trying to make out like it was something it wasn't and when they make claims like that, its hard to believe anything else they say about it.

Moreover the CGI trailer they showed was a disgrace, I think they really let a good game down by trying to appeal to burnout fans, it made their physics engine look ridiculous even though it wasn't really their physics engine at all and its the same story with the graphics in the trailer, seriously overdone.

It looked to me that they were trying to bare face lie, to win customers over, which is a shame because its a good game and they shouldn't have resoter to such measures.

The Forza unveiling should have made me want to by the game, not turn me away by pretending to be something it isn't.

I definitely hope so... If thats the case my GF wont be happy around Xmas... Because I'll be eating Xmas dinner in front of my steering wheel and TV cruising down the Ring :D

Not trying to be smart or arcastic but is there a demo available for Forza 3?

Back on topic: I am hoping we get some news in the TGS.

Well, KY has promised to so let's keep hopes up. :) 1 or 2 tracks would be great.. Nothing is certain though.

I honestly can't see it myself.

I think PD's eyes are fully on GT5 and they don't want to update GT5P, saving more for GT5 that way.

Turn 10 actually said this!?

Well, that makes them a bunch of liars, right? Ok, it may be an awesome and great game in many ways, but stating such things without knowing what's to come from other game developers such as Polyphony Digital, is quite stupid IMO.

I had gained my respect for Forza 3 so much yesterday, and started to think it actually seemed very, very good. Well, this ruined it all completely, sorry Turn 10...

No, there won't be anymore updates for GT5P, you'll have to wait for the 'feast'! ;)

Its good you didnt say that too loud... dont wanna cause a ruckus...

do you really think scee is making its main profit on the consoles? even in they can sell it with a profit?

No, the games make the money and it has always been like this - acutally the first version of the PS1 (until the chip got replaced several times) meant a loss for sony as well ;). And most people that buy a PS3, because of GT5, will buy other games for that system and not the 360, the wii or a pc.

Trust me, they are not afraid of selling loads and loads of consoles, because they will loose a couple of bucks. Its their ultimate goal to make people spend theit money into sony pockets in the long run ;)

If this Slim rumour is true Sony are definitely waiting for that until the game releases. It would explode sales in EU and Japan with the help of FFXIII which is releasing at the end of the year.

Hope the price comes down soon and this game finally releases. With the additions of Nascar and WRC the game is going to have so much content I think Sony just thought "This is our GT game for the PS3 so let's make sure it has neough content to keep selling big after a year is up." Something along those lines me thinks and don't think we will be seeing GT6 on PS3.

I'm starting to care about PS3 sales and it's price now because it is holding back the release of GT5. -_-
