So......what are Sony and Yamauchi waiting for?

Maybe the idea is people like us who are older and more sensible will find it irriating but look pass it, while 10-12 year olds will outright believe it and cry to mommy how great it is and they want it now now now.

Or maybe he thinks we are all gullible? đź’ˇ

I don't really know what their strategy was but for at me at least, I don't think it served them particularly well.

The reason it put me off is as follows: I looked at the trailer and I had to ask myself who is their target audience, perhaps it was to impress the press who don't normally get excited about driving games but I certainly wasn't the target audience, so I have to ask myself is that game going to be to my tastes? (not by the looks of it) or is this game meant to accommodate for people with rather different tastes to mine? (yes by the looks of it) then is it really going to be worth spending my money on this game (+360 and fanatec). It was always going to be a longshot.

I have the same problem with NFS shift at the moment. It's supposedly meant to be a good simulation (which I certainly don't doubt) but looking at the way they are marketing it is making me somewhat concerned as to whether I am really going to enjoy this game. Since it will cost me considerably less, I am willing to take a risk on it.

That's where I stand at least.

i HOPE it will have all the framerate drops / tearing issues fixed.. playing racing games and then just seeing it slow down is a downer thats for sure..i mean i have a pioneer kuro lcd so my tv is not the problem

OK... I still think its got too much of an arcadey look... when I look at it in the videos, it just looks like a heavily pimped up version or an arcade racer... Theres also a video showing in-game footage... and when that guy turns the wheel is looked very jerky and unnatural ... Could be my GT bias coming out here, but thats what I saw and my opinion...
It might be me, but I think the reason Forza 3 looks the way it does is because it appears to me that they coincidentally took an approach at making the game look like a more realistic PGR. This is graphics-wise of course, nothing more.

If you actually had GT5 Prologue you would know there is no Tearing and practically no drop in frames.

I do get the ocasional frame drop in GT5:P when the action gets hectic.

It's normally when you have a few cars of track kicking up particles is when the frame rate gets hurt. It's fairly infrequent problem though.

There is a frame rate analysis of GT5P on the GTP News page, I can link it if you haven't seen it.

I didn't necessarily mean my shoes. :sly:

Yeah, I know... a bit of sarcasm thrown in there :sly::sly:

Yeah I dont know what it is about the graphics... it just looks funny... The cars are so sharp it looks like theyre gliding across the road and not rolling... I agree theres something strange.. and I agree that that chick in you avatar is really HOT and staring me down... kind of flattering actually :P

Just goes to show how closely Kaz is looking at the game. Looking for any flaws that would make this game not as good as it can be.

I guess Forza's trying to get people who just want to drive fast and not care about physics. If it looks good, it must be good? Not for GT5. Everything is a factor.

I think it was to impress the sort of people who are into putting fancy paint jobs on their car.

Forza 1 was a racing sim that just happened to include the ability to put custom designs on your car, and the community really exploited that. Forza 2 expanded on it, and people got even more into it. Now they are just responding to the community.

yeah i actually have it thats why i mentioned tearing/drop in framereates..even on this tv it gets slowed down when there are a few cars and as mentioned previously some dust comes into play

I think the people do care about the physics. The problem though, lies in whether or not Dan can deliver them as the best in a racing game ever. And after that conference, he better.

Regarding the difference in how Dan Greenwalt and Kazunori Yamauchi discuss their respective games:

There are men who will brag about their achievements while there are others who constantly strive to achieve more.

Forza 3 delivers the thrills our competition can't. FORZA 3 IS THE DEFINITIVE RACING GAME FOR THIS GENERATION. Forza 3 is the BEST looking racing game on ANY console. FORZA 3 IS THE DEFINITIVE RACING GAME FOR THIS GENERATION. Forza 3 is the BIGGEST racing game of this generation. FORZA 3 IS THE DEFINITIVE RACING GAME FOR THIS GENERATION. Forza 3 brings you what NO OTHER racing game can. FORZA 3 IS THE DEFINITIVE RACING GAME FOR THIS GENERATION. The best graphics and physics. The hottest cars. FORZA 3 IS THE DEFINITIVE RACING GAME.

Those idiotic comments really ruined the Forza 3 demo for me. If you make a good game then you'll get the kudos and recognition you deserve. But don't cram this rubbish down my throat about how awesome you think you are.

Things said like this are really displaced.

Perhaps you were expecting him to say something along the lines of this:

"You know Forza Motorsport 3 (I think that's the name of our game) we've been working on it since the second was released, and while it might not be as good of a game as what else is out there...we think it's good and we think you should give it a look. I think we're introducing some new content in the game, and we might be a good title but I'm not sure."

I'm not taking either side as I could ultimately care less about being a fanboy or being loyal to one specific game, but explain to me how one thing bar the visuals...which I, nor yourself can even comment upon because you haven't seen it up close is as you say "rubbish" ?

Is Gran Turismo 5 here, yet?

I think they're waiting for half the GT players to die, that way they can have less sales. Just playing. I think sony has bad marketing strategies, especially with the Go coming out. Just like home beta when it was pubicly released. They give us a unfinished product, talk of promisses to come, let us use the unfinished product (and complain), then gradually make it better or give us the damn thing already. I was psyched up to be invited to home beta but then, there wasn't anything really to do, and then they had annoying glitches that made you loose won items, that for some, you have to spend time winning. After that I stopped using it, I just check in everynow and then, especially to get latest updates since I don't use it much. However gt5p is a great game, I love online, and with the way gt5 looks, its going to be a whole new environment that won't let us down.

I'm guessing that GT5 is being delayed because PD can't figure out how to keep my cars weight from constantly re-setting to a default setting every time I exit and come back in :dopey:

ONLY KIDDING !!

I also have to laugh about all the concern for the announced hype around the Forza3 presentation ..... I guess none of you have worked in sales :)
This is a good example of an American business culture in comparison to a rather polite Japanese culture.

I worked for a Japanese company for 25 years selling products that competed in the market place with American made products. The US brands continuously ran advertising taking cheap shots at our products while we continuously ran advertising touting only the merits of our products without ever mentioning the competitive brands or their weak points.

I can hear it now ...... "Please enjoy this exciting trailer of our new game Forza3. It's really quite good, but possibly not as good as another game which not only hasn't been released, but hasn't even had a release date set for it yet" :dopey:

Yes, this is sarchasm ........ my apologies :)

Ok guys, I dont wont to scare you but i thought you should know.
I spoke to a japanese PSN friend today(kart555). He saiz that he read on a japanese website that PD is launching GT5 in 2012:scared:

This is far beyond any official news and I really hope he is not right about this one:nervous:

Oh come on, they didn't have to say it was mediocre, sure they can talk it up, but they could have said 'We think it has great graphics' or even 'it has really great graphics' but saying it has the best graphics of the generation comes across as trying to pull the wool over our eyes, so i have little time for any of his other claims.

You can call me a fanboy if you want, I don't really care. I have said multiple times in this thread no less that I think forza 3 will be a great game, if you choose to ignore that its up to you.

What I said, is I don't agree with their unveiling, I think it didn't do them any favours for me at least. I really can't see whats wrong with that, did you not think the unveiling was a bit weak?

Back on topic, I can strongly see it coming out at the same time as the PS3's rumoured price drop. If there is indeed a pricedrop.

How are they displaced? They are quotes from his presentation.

I expected him to talk up their game. Not claim it was the second coming.

Best looking racing game
Biggest racing game
Best physics
Best graphics
The definitive racing game of this generation

I was referring to his presentation and comments.

The game itself looks quite good. Despite the example of the video editor being completely CGI.

Is Gran Turismo 5 here, yet?

Is Forza 3 here yet?

Why would a Croatian on an international website, talking about a Japanese developer, use 'Thanksgiving' as a reference at all? :odd:

Well, you may ask yourself why would Amar use “Ovens” and “Volatiles” references in the first place. Maybe the choice off these metaphors is not accidental? Maybe there are multiple levels of encryption? Nobody knows for sure, that’s why we expose and share our interpretations I guess. (btw mine used a question mark and a crazy smiley)

Taking my previous one a little further, you could also add the “Feast of God” reference to the equation, since “Christmas” is the time where “turkeys” are “baked” in many European countries.

Are those hints of a possible december 2009 release for GT5? Could be (not).

My 2 cents, of course.

They are waiting for Christmas time! I really don't care when it comes out, just would like to know the release date!!! Sony or PD!!!
