So......what are Sony and Yamauchi waiting for?

I do think that the game is finished or close to be finish by PD (probably working on last minute features & bug fixes).
KY himself said regarding the date "haven't decided yet", so I think that they are considering few dates:
1) Forza 3 date
2) PSP GT date (kind of a global GT release)
3) Holiday season - more close to end of the year
And therefore there wasn't enough information regarding this...

As long as the finishing touches are good ones, I can wait. A release this year would be great. November release sounds like a good time to me. Plenty of time to put the PS3 on the shopping list. ;)

edit] Hopefully this means we will have worldwide release, amar seems to think so too.

Yeah, hoping the same. 👍

One thing that shocked me, was that they're releasing GTM on october 1st in Europe and America, and on october 8th in Japan. One week after!

Agreed, I think Forza 3 will be a very good game, but the press conference was a total turn off, it looked as if they were trying to make out like it was something it wasn't and when they make claims like that, its hard to believe anything else they say about it.

Moreover the CGI trailer they showed was a disgrace, I think they really let a good game down by trying to appeal to burnout fans, it made their physics engine look ridiculous even though it wasn't really their physics engine at all and its the same story with the graphics in the trailer, seriously overdone.

It looked to me that they were trying to bare face lie, to win customers over, which is a shame because its a good game and they shouldn't have resoter to such measures.

The Forza unveiling should have made me want to by the game, not turn me away by pretending to be something it isn't.

The funniest part was that he said that video was an "example" of what players will be able to create with the games movie maker

What a load of rubbish

That wasnt CGI. Check the Gameplay video The graphics are almost identical to the trailer they showed.

Kazunori Yamauchi: I want to release it as fast as I can, but GT5 for us, when you talk about its status, it's at a point we can release it any time we want, but we can always keep working on it. It's very important for us to make sure everything is done perfectly and everything is done in detail.

That last sentence is good enough for me and many others, thats the way KY works it has got to be right, we have waited this long, so why spoil an awesome game because something is not right.

Also remember guys and gals we have been beta testers since GT5 Prolouge came out.

However it would be nice to have some DLC between now and release date.

I am prepeared to wait for the perfection of GT5.

Seems PD never really seem to finish any GT game. They just keeping working towards KY's 'vision' and every now and again Sony push them in bundling up whatever they've done so far and releasing it to the public.

This is hilarious. It fits so perfectly with the observation I made:

did anyone else notice how INCREDIBLY stressed out KY looked when he spoke during the conference?? I think Sony has him on the brink. I mean it's been an unacceptably long wait and this game isn't the mona lisa. I REALLY hope he doesn't have a breakdown though..

Yup I would like to see one more track. Like deep forest or midfield raceway. I know we wont see anything more in prologue though.

I find this interesting as I was reading an old thread. Note the date :D

I was very surprised when I saw latest issue of Croatia "Auto Klub" magazine which came with the KY's interview about GT games and future of the series.

As majority of interview was related towards his past and work on previous incarnations of GT games, he stated that he "hopes that GT5 will be finished during 2007".

He also talked about fantastic sales of GT4 (more then 6 BigOnes), about his fascination with Nurburgring and he also stated that "GT5 will be 100 times more detailed then GT4". I take this "100 times" as part of journalist's freedom, but this way or another, this is the first glympse of the possible release date by KY so far.

Hope that TGS will answer more questions.

So I'm pretty sure they have it ready to roll and have had for a long time :)

👍

Now just polish it PD, polish it. :dopey:

I dont know about that statement.. KY's statements are all over the place, in a interview a few months ago he says a 2010 release is more likely for GT5:

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/17/kazunori-yamauchi-more-prologue-no-gt5-soon-gt-psp-still-comi/

and now the game is done, they are just adding things as they go and keep perfecting it?
Notice how he also mentions how the PSP game will be out AFTER GT5? yeeaahhh.. right.

About them not releasing much info on it right now:

It has been said before three or four times in this thread and they are spot on i think.. PSP Go is a big thing for sony.. having GT mobile supporting it is big as well, and a big part of the GT crowd who just want another GT game.. they are aiming at them with this PSP title.
If they let GT5 overshadow GT:PSP, people will just wait for GT5 instead and let GT:PSP stay on the shelves.

Check this out:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/yamauchi-gt-psp-unlikely-this-year

2008 interview.. lots of info about how the PSP GT title will intergrate with the PS3 GT5 title.
So come october (release date of the PSP:GO and GT:PSP, we'll see more details regarding the PS3 and the PSP title for sure.. i think they might just even hold off ANY info about GT5 till october, and after that at the Tokyo Game Show.

1) KY isn't that kind of person, I'm sure he'll let Forza 3 have it's moment.
2) Definitely not, the whole point of not mentioning GT5 is so that the PSP Go and GT Mobile get sales.
3) Probably a good choice, maybe just before Christmas. That way everyone is gearing up and people are spending money. Then for the kids who don't get it for Christmas, they can get it the next day with the money they get in cards.

Come on guys forza 3 is a great game for me, and turn 10 in the half time than polyphony have raised the same level of quality.
there are porsche, lamborghini, and maserati that we don't know if gt5 will and damage in every car and not only race cars.

The video I believe Stev. is referring to is the one where they showed the cars doing all sorts of stunts. That particular video was CGI as the physics gave it away. Even all the Forza fans acknowledge as such. Every other video though has been in-game. :)👍

Theyre just waiting for pigs to fly and hell to freeze over :P Nah, I think theyre not giving it the attention it deserves because they dont want to overshadow the release of GT mobile and the PSP Go.... If they hyped up GT5 now and gave a lot of info no one would go out and buy GT mobile... I think once the PSP GO is launched and GT mobile is out we will ALL of A SUDDEN hear a release date for GT5...

QUOTE..... psp go and gtmobile is the only reason...

This actually makes a lot of sense! 👍

I want everyone on this forum to cross their fingers! :P

Oh right. Yes I agree that might be CGI. I see at one point a car spin on its centre point which is impossible. But the in game graphics are fantastic but not as goot as Gran Turismo. Still I will buy both.

oh yeah, it looks like a great game, but the way they said it had the best graphics (pffft) amd that it's the definative racing game of this generation (DRGOTG) irks me. If it was the DRGOTG, it wouldn't (contrary to the trailer) have smoke pouring from all the tires of the cars as they set of, nor would any car (regardless of how good it was) overtake two other cars within the first 200m after setting off. Kudos to Forza 3 for being a great game. If it wasn't trying to compete with GT and is sold on the PS3, I'd buy it instantly. But the DRGTOTG? jog on.

That is indeed the video I was referring to. 👍

It personally really put a downer on the game along with what the guy presenting it was saying: 'Definitive racing game, best graphics, best physics....blah blah blah, if you look at the screenshot you can see that it isn't the best graphics (although pretty good) so why should I believe his other claims. :dunce:

It's a shame because from real in game video's it looks like a good game, but that wasn't the impression I was given at its unveiling.

I couldnt care less what he said in all honesty. After all it is me who will decide wether its the best or not not some guy blowing his own trumpet. Im hoping they release a demo for forza 3 soon though.

I honestly can't agree more.

For anyone lost, watch this video & count the number of times definitive is said as well as the number of times that he boasts that FM3 as the best in everything.

Oh I agree, ultimately it doesn't change how good the game is one bit, but i was really excited about the unveiling, so it's no surprise that the a dodgy CGI trailer and a guy lying at me and telling me his game is teh best game evor!!1! put me off somewhat.

The game looks a good one, but it wont be one I will be buying due to a lack of xbox, I haven't been convinced its worth getting a 360 just to play, especially as it means I have to stump of for a fanatec if I want a decent wheel for it.

I guess we will soon find out how good Forza 3 really is, I am betting it will be pretty good.

Maybe the idea is people like us who are older and more sensible will find it irriating but look pass it, while 10-12 year olds will outright believe it and cry to mommy how great it is and they want it now now now.

From memory KY has been quoted as saying that they'll 'surprise us' and 'it'll be sooner than expected'.

Must remember to check the PS Store update this evening... :) :) :)

Yep PD, polish it like my girlfriend polishes my...err...shoes. :P

Your GF polishes your shoes?!?!? WOW, I need to take some notes..

OK... I still think its got too much of an arcadey look... when I look at it in the videos, it just looks like a heavily pimped up version or an arcade racer... Theres also a video showing in-game footage... and when that guy turns the wheel is looked very jerky and unnatural ... Could be my GT bias coming out here, but thats what I saw and my opinion...

I love how hard they try! Kaz doesnt even need to speak... and when he does he talks about what we are actually interested in... poor Xbox people, they do try.
