So......what are Sony and Yamauchi waiting for?

I am equally confused, do you have to pay extra to get all 400 cars? If that is the case, how many come on the first disk?

[edit] Oh I see Lars. đź‘Ť

I feel a bit sorry for Turn 10 because they are probably going get a bit of flak for this and there isn't really their fault. The Xbox 360 seems to be holding Turn 10 back on this, its a disk and hardware issue, rather than poor programming on their behalf, but if they can't give everyone the promised 400 cars then they aren't doing themselves any favours by announcing that and then turning round and saying, well actually not all of you can have that. :indiff:

My sentiment exactly. One of the thing I was hoping that Forza 3 would improve upon the last one was the grid size and I'm sure I wasn't the only one who was dissapointed at the fact the both the SP and the MP mode will only feature maximum of 8 cars. It seems that in order to achieve the increase in polygon and at the same time maintain the 60 fps from Forza 2, Forza 3 has fallen behind most serious racer on the market: SHIFT will feature at least 12 and GT5 most definitely 16 and even 360 exclusive Race pro features 16 cars. Another thing to remember that despite all this the game is still running at 720p.

To paraphrase something I saw on GAF...the more time you work on a game, the progressively worse it becomes.

Look at Duke Nukem Forever....they spent ten years working on that and ended up with absolutely nothing.

Agreed.

I really, really hope every model in that game is made from the ground up and not ported from the previous version. The Enzo looks horrible in Forza 2. :yuck:

Some person claiming to be a friend of one of the developers at Turn 10 says 400 cars and 8 players is just a showcase, he seemed to hint at more. All of this at Turn 10's Forza forum.

EDIT: deep_sky beat me to the punch, I was agreeing with myke...to some extent deep_sky as well.

I didn't know where to write this but this seems to be an ok place. I read the Forza forums, NFS, and GTP. The biggest thing that I've noticed is the forza people have always been more concered with GT5 being better than Forza and always try to prove that their game is the better. Their scared. And up until this years E3 the GTP people have even cared about forza 3 that much. The point is that I think the Forza community is very nervous the GT5 will be better than Forza 3, and the Gran Turismo community is less scared of Forza 3. NFS forums are full of 8 year olds, so you can't realy tell where the stand. I'm not a Playstation fanboy, I don't own a PS3, and I don't think I'll ever own one. I own a Xbox 360 though. I hope someone finds this usefull :)

I've gotta say this whole thing has made me very unhappy. I bought a PSP on launch day because they made me believe that GT mobile was coming soon. My PSP gather dust for months, years even before I gave up waiting for it and sold it two months ago. Now out the blue they are finally going to release it. Even more upsetting is that we are made to wait even longer for GT5 because they want GT mobile to have the spotlight by itself. What BS! GT mobile isn't going to sell well or be a system seller for the PSP Go. GT mobile should have come out a long time ago. It didn't need to be a full mobile version of GT. Something on the level of GT5P is all that was needed. What a waste of time! :irked:

I understand that he doesn't want to release an unfinished game, but we're not on the PS2 anymore, if something is wrong or missing just release it as an update or DLC :)

I think it has more to do with maximizing sales, conicniding with sony's big console pushes, christmas, not stepping on the toes of GTMoblie rather than they want to polish and polish it.

Just since they aren't currently releasing it, they are adding touches instead.

Just as Amar said, back in Feb-march the game was finishing up.

I like how KY didn't throw a cheap shot back towards turn10/Forza.
He just made turn 10 seem like wannabes.

Forza 3, the driving simulator with a rewind function and let's you make stunt videos. :yuck:

But where is the sense in not publishing a release date, if they are really ready to go?
Because no matter what they do people start whining and complaining on Internet forums.

Hope i am wrong and the real reason is that PD Sony just sucks when it comes to marketing (maybe Yamauchi was ill when he should have learned something about public relations in school :dunce:)
Fixed. Polyphony Digital is a developer, Sony is a publisher. GT5 could be gold, with the master print sitting on a desk at Sony and the launch is still left up to Sony. If they are bundling it with a slim or a reduced price bundle and they aren't ready to announce they are doing that yet (because people wouldn't buy a PS3 now if they know they can wait and save money) then they won't be announcing when it is coming out.

It works both ways. Look at anything put out by EA Sports every year. As a contrast look at Spore. It started development in 2000. Eight years and it is good.

No. This lazy mentality is what is wrong with the videogame industry today. Remember when you put in a game and it just worked right?

I have to ask: Why do people have an issue with a man taking pride in making a good product for you?

I think what he meant by the "we can release it at any point" comment is just that they have the content in and it's fully playable...basically an extended Prologue. They CAN release it, but it doesn't yet have all the features they want (damage? weather? more cars? etc).

As for the 2 disc's thing - yeah, it is strange. The PSOne games you are referring to that used 2 disc's were usually on 2 or more disc's for game length, i.e. FFVII and the like. GT2 had 2 disc's - but one was for Simulation Mode and the other was for Arcade Mode. They both contained the game's 500+ vehicles. Turn 10 is hyping the 2 disc's thing to imply that you need to have the game on multiple disc's just to play it - and a racing game should not have you switching disc's just to change races.

If it's like GT2 - then great, but that doesn't change the fact that Forza 3 is still vastly inferior to Gran Turismo 5.

Youre forgetting M$ introduced the ability to install the games onto the HDD so its not at all necessary to change disks for anything. Just install the game on your hdd and your off. I have Forza 2 installed on my Xbox 360 and it doesnt access the disk for any of the game. The only thing the disk is necessary for is to make sure you have a legit copy of the game.

So even though Forza 3 is on two disks you will not need to change disks in any part of the game nor will the Xbox 36 access the disk in any part of the game.

No I take it as, 'Its got all the main things we wanted in it' now we are trying to include all those nice little details we always wanted to add while we wait for a release date.#

That's just my interpretation though.

Soo many things wrong with that statement.

1. Reviews will be lower, putting off possible buyers. It doesn't matter if it's updated later. The only people that will care will be to people who already have the game.

2. Most importantly, not everyone will have their PS3 connected to the internet. Sucks to be them.

I know I said 'many things' but, well, I could only think of 2 :P . They're pretty damn important though!

Can I please have a link where amar said the game was finishing up? Much appreciated.

If so it will be very interesting to see what PD do now. My guess is that they will polish it up for a couple more months and then move onto DLC. Getting more and more obvious that Sony are holding back GT5 until the PS3 Slim which is said to be this year.

Sony need a couple of mega titles to coincide with the PS3 price cut this Christmas, Uncharted 2 is one, GT5 will be the other, IMO.

GT Mobile will be on the market by October, that leaves plenty of time to market GT5 and the PS3 for Christmas.

For those saying that "sony is waiting for PS3 slim or PS3 with new price"...
I think it's wrong, if they release GT5 now they will sold same amount of ps3...(at full price)

GT fans are waiting GT5 to buy ps3, and not ps3 slim or cheapest ps3 to buy GT5... am i wrong?

First GT5 with full priced PS3 and latter on (chrismas?) bundle with new price or slim PS3 to convince last customers

Forza 3 delivers the thrills our competition can't. FORZA 3 IS THE DEFINITIVE RACING GAME FOR THIS GENERATION. Forza 3 is the BEST looking racing game on ANY console. That's not Turn 10... that's Kanye West :dopey:

Correct, the 'lets just get it out right now, things can be added later' attitude annoys me because of the above reasons.

Also, imagine they bring it out now, but they haven't finished it so they bring it out in a later update. But me being the avid gamer I am have already raced and completed the 24h's of bone dry racing, so I missed out and now i have to do it over again to get the rain experience.

The problem with a game such as GT which has a very specific layout, is adding new features into an is difficult if you have already programmed the game, its not a problem for online but it is for career mode.

You mean like GT2?

I never had experienced the bugs myself but there were some big ones, like losing your whole garage.

That's another valid interpretation...I could see it going either way.

Its the old proverbial Two edged sword.

Kaz is such a perfectionist he never wants to release the game or commit to a release date. So were all left hanging for years.

But when he does, for the same reason you know it will be a great game.

I think SONY just want to sync the GT5 launch to the PS3 Slim, just like GT Portable launching with PSP Go. And the PS3 Slim should go on sale in time for Thanksgiving/X`mas 2009....

I like the way some people are implying Forza 3 will be inferior because of the marketing used so far. I believe GT5 will be the better game, but I think Forza 3 will be a great game too and I'm sure I will buy and enjoy both.

It's pathetic to critiscise Forza 3 because it lets people create stunt videos, to cut that one in the bud it has a feature GT should have had a long time ago, a movie editor so you can cut and chop up replays to make your own clips. People have been doing this for years with GT only the guys doing it have needed to use a capture card and not inbuilt software. Also the rewind feature isn't a bad thing, it's just another game aid fo thoes that want it, like the other aids (ABS, TCS, lesser damage levels etc) you get more prize credits for disabling the feature.

If you want to have a pop at Forza 3 be my guest, but poking fun at extra features and in terms of a the video editor a very good feature at that is sheer idiocy.

Key difference - Sony have confirmed the PSP Go. The PS3 Slim doesn't exist yet and the photos that were circulated didn't originate from Sony.

So I'd love to know where the news that this non-existant console is going on sale within 4 months has come from.

We'd made it back on topic too :indiff:

without it getting into it again, I might as well quickly re-iterate what I said before.

I think Forza will be a great game, I don't think the unveiling sold it well, it put me off the game, even though ultimately it has no bearing on the game play. It has worried me somewhat about the target audience, of course there is plenty of time to win me back over by reviews and the likes which will no doubt tell me what the game is really like.

Hey Famine, hope your doing well.

I don't have a clue about this PS3 Slim thing either.

Seems PD never really seem to finish any GT game. They just keeping working towards KY's 'vision' and every now and again Sony push them in bundling up whatever they've done so far and releasing it to the public.

Too much class for that.

Those idiotic comments really ruined the Forza 3 demo for me. If you make a good game then you'll get the kudos and recognition you deserve. But don't cram this rubbish down my throat about how awesome you think you are.

I completely agree with you. All i felt they were doing was bragging. That is one thing i found microsoft did alot of during thier press conference. Everything they had was supposedly "The best of this generation" and how no other console not even the more supirior PS3 (in terms of power and space) could accomplish waht they are doing. It got really annoying! I've annoyed myslef writing this! That's how annoying it was! lol.

I'll refrain from commenting on that and the PS3 being more superior in hardware capability. What I will do is get back on topic...Gamespot still has 3 TBA slots left...wonder if one of them could be GT5? :sly:
