So......what are Sony and Yamauchi waiting for?

They're probably making the translations for all the different versions, for a single-date global release.
Or whatever it is that video game developers do in "post-production". What do they do after the game is "made", anyway? Testing, quality assurance? Smoke pot? Sleep? Play World of Warcraft? That seems to be what they do at the Art Institute. LMAO

If its anything like the release of Gran Turismo then japan will have Gran Turismo 5 6 months before the rest of the world. But I am hoping you are right and we wont have to wait 6 months after the japanese have the game.

Japan is getting GT Mobile 5 days later than the US and EU. So they are already breaking that trend.

That i think would be a bad idea for PD to release it just for Japan first as has been done in the past with systems and games, because every PS3 game can be played on any PS3 worldwide. so if Sony/PD decided to release it in just Japan first(with any more than a couple weeks in between the rest of the world) they would get over run with NTSC and PAL players buying the Japanese version as i would do in that situation.

I do remember reading something about a worldwide release (witch would be the smart thing to do) i cant remember if it was in a cryptic post from Amar212 or not though

I know Sony does not want to overshadow the new PSP or GT mobile but i do hope we have some new news/video/screen shots popping up from time to time as we get closer to the TGS, For me the 2 minute video shown at E3 was enough to have me say "whats a PSP" as far as GT mobile goes

Plus Japan release first would mean more sales... fans would buy the JPN version and then buy another when it comes out in their own country :D

but i do want a world release.

Nah, that's the past.. localization is done within a few days now, and companies are really trying their best to steer away from releasing popular games like this from releasing in one country first, then translate/localize the game, and then release it in the other countries.

Oh god, how i hated those days:

GT2 is out! whoohoo! aah, but first 6 months it's available in japan only..

6 months later: GT2 is out guys!! whoohooo! aaaah.. so sorry, it's out in the states now, you europeans have to wait just a few months more.

This rarely happens these days though.. i'd be suprised if we are not going to see a worldwide release date on this game for sure... maybe a few days.

I have really high hopes of a world wide release...if not, guess I'll just wait patiently...I mean, let's face it, no point in rushing the game now right...it's late as it is and any later wouldn't be a shock anymore ;)

Look, the basic fact is we have waited so long...i can wait another couple of months :) Especially if the end product is gonna be the greatest game ever, ya know whaddimean?

MGR
Seems PD never really seem to finish any GT game. They just keeping working towards KY's 'vision' and every now and again Sony push them in bundling up whatever they've done so far and releasing it to the public.

Too much class for that.

Forza 3 delivers the thrills our competition can't. FORZA 3 IS THE DEFINITIVE RACING GAME FOR THIS GENERATION. Forza 3 is the BEST looking racing game on ANY console. FORZA 3 IS THE DEFINITIVE RACING GAME FOR THIS GENERATION. Forza 3 is the BIGGEST racing game of this generation. FORZA 3 IS THE DEFINITIVE RACING GAME FOR THIS GENERATION. Forza 3 brings you what NO OTHER racing game can. FORZA 3 IS THE DEFINITIVE RACING GAME FOR THIS GENERATION. The best graphics and physics. The hottest cars. FORZA 3 IS THE DEFINITIVE RACING GAME.

Those idiotic comments really ruined the Forza 3 demo for me. If you make a good game then you'll get the kudos and recognition you deserve. But don't cram this rubbish down my throat about how awesome you think you are.

Same here, the stuff that dude was coming out with made me feel queazy, you could tell even he knew it was BS.

I think i missed the part about forza being the DEFINITIVE RACING GAME OF THIS GENERATION, that guy was spewing BS

Dont give them the attention.

Look, the whole thing the other 'racing game' guys are doing is trying to rile up GT fans to talk about the game. So they can sell their own game by forcing 360 owners to be loyal to 'their own game'. Its a tactic used by other games. Even if they arent directly the same like in this case.

The best thing to do is ignore the other games and focus on GT. Dont give them the benefit of a fanboy war.

Now lets focus on what matters GT5 and GT PSP.

+1 amen to that brother.

Who's to say he is right or wrong? So far all we have is a couple videos and a large demo of one game. Also a definitive game doesn't necessarily mean the best one. So far Forza has one of the best communities in all of racing, they have a section of their forums for basically every way to play the game and everyone is helpful as long as you don't steal anyone's work. For me a definitive game is the one that provides the best and longest experience possible. I'm not sure what one it will be but I can guarantee I will be having a blast playing both games, racing in leagues, tuning cars to sell(hopefully I can do it for GT5 also) and just having fun.

Also, don't get me wrong I love the GT series but I also love racing sims and will play as many console sims I can get my hands on. I refuse to pledge allegance to any game because asides from it being rediculous it takes away from the gaming experience.

yeah i agree its stupid to side with one game but i just beleive that Forza will NEVER be as good as they are making it out to be.

Again, how do you know?
Do you have a secret copy of the game?
If so can I play it?

I'm guessing the answer for all of them is no. It's impossible to say whether a game will be good or bad with the info we have for either game.

look...i will explain m'kay? sorry if i was unclear before. From footage seen as of today i personally believe that Forza motorsport shades in comparison to the two miniute trailer. There all clear!

Since I don't have a 360 and I don't plan on buying that console on principal (of it being broken), I'd rather take sides, because I own a ps3, and to me GT is important. I don't doubt for ONE second that F3 will be an awesome game, but I don't doubt for a second that I will miss it - because I won't play it, it doesn't apply to me.

But I can still hate on developers who act all moronic like that. Way to be competitive I say, let your product speak for itself. And if arrogant people stand behind a game like this - then no thanks. I just hope that not everyone who worked on F3 is an arrogant idiot.

Im not sure if this is from insiders and true, but they (turn 10) called out PD twice this E3.. i should probably not even post this as it will only put gasoline on the fire.. but turn 10 said they are ready for the fight and are convinced that they are going to win, but are sad because the other guy (Yamauchi) is not turning up for the fight.. yuck, i really like forza 3 so far but they need to tone down with the typical arrogance and just let the game speak for itself.

Another quote:

Turn 10 on Forza 3: 'No game competes with us'

Forza Motorsport 3 game director Dan Greenwalt is proud of his game. More specifically, he believes that Forza 3 has surpassed all of the competition, most notably Gran Turismo. When asked how Forza is positioned against other racing stalwarts like Need for Speed and Gran Turismo, Greenwalt did not mince words.

"I'm in this industry because of Gran Turismo, let's just be frank," said Greenwalt. He then explained that Gran Turismo inspired his first "stressful" car purchase, a Mitsubishi 3000GT, saying that is was "a great car in that game, and I thought 'Oh my God, if I'm ever going to have a car, that's the car that I want.'" Then things got ugly.

"So, props to Kazunori Yamauchi-san and the PS1 team," said Greenwalt. "That said," he continued, "I feel that he's passed us the baton. Perhaps he hasn't meant to, but we have taken the genre to new levels and they've stopped evolving the genre. So again, tremendous respect to him, but I'd say the differentiator is they're old school." He conclued, "The emperor's naked, and I don't want to, you know, I don't want to slap him around, but no game competes [with] us right now."

Seriously.. work on your game, be proud but leave this BS at home.. really not proffesional and for people like me who will get both games, im sort of rooting for GT5 to blow forza away now so they can shut up and sit down.

+1, some of the crap I've heard coming from the mouths of the creators of Forza is almost laughable in the past week or 2, whether it's true or not (we won't know until GT5 is released), the fact they have the nerve to say it is unbelieveable.

2 years of work not six and forza 3 will be a great game. how much years passes between GT5 and GT6 ? ten!!!!!!

I'm a great fan of the gran turismo series but polyphony is reaching the bottom.

If thats what it needs to make a great game...why not? Who else can afford to take all the time it needs to create a (hopefully) brilliant game these days?

Btw, where is the problem in having more than one good racing game? I hope Forza will be a good game and i hope GT5 will be good, too...raising the bar for the next upcoming games can't be bad, can it? So please stop that stupid "there can only be one Game and the developers of the other game are stupid" attitude, its simply annoying

+2, and +2 to edebert, too.

According to the test that SimHQ did of F3 it does feel and drive more than ok.

although is was in the combination of three 360 and three lcd panels and a $500 wheel, the fanatec with clubsport pedals. I hope I will be able to run three PS3 and three monitors like that. And as people are saying, the more the merrier. I really think that is is a good thing that both consoles gets a great racing sim. I won't get me a 360 until MS had increased the quality of the console. The marketing BS? Well I'm not impressed and don't really care. Let gamers try it first and let the game stand on its own feet.

+1 on the console, and totally agree with your last sentence.

Sure the GT games are class and GT5 will no doubt be great however 5 years between GT4 and GT5 is a little crazy. In that time Forza will have had three games which are anything but bad games.

On the PD website it says that the company consists on 110 employees........surely Sony would not have an issue increasing the number and releasing a flagship GT game every 3 years? One can literally post a picture of Yamauchi holding a GT game cover with the line "it prints money."

It's pretty clear and Sony are willing to bend down backward for Yamauchi and it seems he controls when the game releases. A game like Forza 3 would not have that luxery. Team ICO games do not sell fantastically however Ueda can take as long as he wants to make a game. I love that about Sony however as a game a new GT game every 3 years would be fantastic.

Surely GT6 on PS3 would not take more than 3 years? *wishes*

You have to remember that they have switched to a new console, and that Kaz is a detail monster. That is the reason why they are where they are today. And I'm not complaining.

I don't think we'll see a GT6 on PS3.

Well, that's the issue though, isn't it. If we didn't have GT5 Prologue, and we didn't have a number of videos of FM3 - along with Dan Greenawalt's pathetic attitude - which shows FM3 playing just like FM2, then you would be right. Well, except for Turn 10's amusing "Didn't happen" button. Wow, realism... :P

But not only do we have both of those, both developers have a pedigree, a lineage. We know what to expect from both, except for a few surprises. FM1 had the trainable drivatar, while GT4 had the simpler B-Spec driver, which was still fun to mess with. GT4 had Photo Mode. FM1 had a nice if basic livery editor and racing modifications. FM2 upped the ante with the Auction House. The XBoxes were designed from the start with online play in mind, of course being essentially basic gaming PCs, while with the PS2 it was bolted on, and didn't work many times.

But those are embellishments, side dishes of the meat of the games, which are the physics engine, car and track selection, racing feel and immersion. FM2 sold a little over 4 million units, while Prologue sold about as many units in half the time, and was a platinum seller just from pre-orders. I will let this speak for itself.

Sure the GT games are class and GT5 will no doubt be great however 5 years between GT4 and GT5 is a little crazy. In that time Forza will have had three games which are anything but bad games.
I will have to comment that Forza 1 wasn't a wonderful game. In fact of the XBox's million sellers, it was dead last. In spite of the bugs and flaws, FM2 was a good game. But like Windows 7, let's hope that FM3 is the Forza game Ms promised all along. Except for that 12 cars on track guarantee...

As for GT6, it depends on how stupendous GT5 is, and how well integrated the DLC is in the single player. Keep in mind that if GT5 has 60 or so race locations with almost 100 courses, and 600 cars or more, many assets for GT6 are done. It depends on how much farther Kazunori wants to take the series.

Based on past games.... I think so:
GT & GT2 --> ps1
GT3 & GT4 --> ps2
GT5 & GT6 --> ps3
but just a guess.....

With the current popularity of DLC, I think they will just keep adding to GT5 to keep it fresh until GT6 hits on PS4. We *might* however see a release or two using the GT name, but some other type of racing. (motorcycles, etc)

true, true....
with the Playstation store, PD could just release new tracks, events, cars, etc. via the internet, so the life of the game could be prolonged, possibly not needing a replacement until the PS4 shows up.... This would give PD time to work on other projects, such as another tourist trophy, or whatever...

GT6 will not be releasing for the fans......I know this must be a huge shock to people here. I'm more than sure we will see GT6 on PS3 because development costs would be much less because the engine is already running and what not. It's another easy multimillion seller for $60 a pop.

GT5 could easily last this generation with DLC but will PD do that for several years? No because GT6 would make a whole load of money with less work than GT5 thanks to the engine and models already being completed. It's a win win situation for Sony and PD, they make more money and give fans a new flagship title.

GT6 on the PS3, just makes too much sense.
