I just downloaded a few of the top times for the Stock version of the car to see how I can improve and it's like they are driving a different car.

In the reply I watched the guy hit 245+ Mph across the line!!!

That is totally impossible in the Stock car, I can barley hits 150 Mph and takes an eternity to get there. It's like the car I'm driving is twice the weight and half the power. Can anyone explain it?

I'm using a DS3 and, yeah, I'm not the greatest driver, but the difference in car performance is astounding. My best time is like 1:54;xx and I think there is a second or two at the most I could chip off by getting smoother.

I'm quite sure that no one reaches 245 mph in the stock car, or the tuned one for that matter. Is it possible that you have checked replays with speeds given in kph instead? It also seems unlikely that it is the stock car that goes at those speeds. I normally cross the line at 228 kph in the stock car and 249 in the tuned.

the fastest I've hit across the line is 249kmh, in the tuned car, and 226kmh in the stock.

Even if the guy got the metrics wrong, 245kmh across the line in the stock car still seems very wrong....either that, or not only got owned by metrics, but also by the game itself...8-)

EDIT: Yep...he must have...Holland is doing 228kmh over the line on his lap.

its a bug, if you have it on mph and the driver in replay has kph, it will mix up when you watch it, noticed this to.

Wow, I think I just got owned by my own stupidity. The replay is in french and I still didn't clue in that it could be in freakin kph.

Now I just have to face that these guys really are just that much better than I am.

Would you take offence if I put that in my sig? :sly:

i did exactly the same thing :dopey:, think there must be a glitch. if your using mph and the replay is in kph. on the replay it shows the unit of speed as mph but it must still be displaying it in kph theres no way anyone could reach those sorts of speeds

LOL!

Don't worry man--this happened to me with the US ghosts, only it was the other way around. I've always used kilometers as the unit of distance in Gran Turismo (I even use kph for my S2000's digital speedo). I began watching a faster ghost the other night and wanted to pay attention to corner entry speed... even though the HUD was still showing KPH, the number itself was surprisingly low, and I was like, "What the hell... there's no way to take that corner 40 kph slower and make the same split ti.... oh... wait."

242 mph is Veyron speed :) hihihih 350 Z it's not able to go that fast. so this is a slight glitch. the current speed is about 150 mph just like you said, for km/h i would be 250.

Quite and annoying bug since I need to find someone else in the american board that uses the Km/h speed unit to download the replay with the right speeds.

Confession time...

I downloaded the fastest time for the stock car last weekend and noticed they were doing the last corner at something like 80mph compared to my 50mph. I was stunned. So I spent a good hour practising the last corner (by restarting over and over again) trying to work out where I was going wrong and getting increasingly frustrated that I was getting nowhere near. :dunce:

Now, it all makes sense - I'm slow but not that slow!!!!! :)

KPH or MPH, the top times still seem impossible! :ouch:

Don't know what your time is Biggles, but I bet it seems equally impossible to 90% of the people who have tried this game. In fact, merely driving a complete lap in the Normal seems impossible to some!

I am not going to make a 1.47 but I believe most people, if they are patient enough could get a Top 20 time. May take weeks, possibly months, but it's not impossible. The difference between the top drivers and the Rest is that the best guys can go straight out and do that, everyone else struggles their way there. The reason I'm not going to make a 1.47 is because I'm going to run out of time and patience.

Right now I'm at 1.50.100 and I know I can do a 1.49, but the 1.48s seem out of reach. Except when I do the 1.49.800 I know I can, then I can take another 0.1 off that. Then it's 'only' 0.7 to 1.48 and what was I thinking that the 1.50s were difficult a couple of days ago when my best was a mid 1.51 !

You can also download the Top Time replays and use them as the Ghost in your own sessions.
This allows you to follow the fast guys and see where they are fast and where you can improve.

For me I have gained a couple seconds doing this and can see room for a little more.... The biggest area I see these guys being quicker than us others is not so much the line, but how early they are getting on the gas after the apex, and after following them for more than a few laps, this has been where I have been gaining most time too.

Try this:To go fast in this demo, you have to throw the car in turns with great speed.
Try to imagine that is a rubber band tight in your car and the center of any corner, break early or even not break at all and aplly little throttle for the rubber band to take you to the apex of the corner.

This is how realistic is the demo.

And tell me then if is impossible.

That and for me anyway, the lines and also the gears. I started using third more than I did before and it worked.

I'm coming after you 888!!!

I only use 2nd in the esses... everywhere else 3rd works for me and stops the wheelspin...

...and I'm only ranked 72nd in Aus... there are plenty of other scalps out there worth more than mine !! :D

My poor dear Raceur, your optimism & dedication are touching. I hate to be the one to disillusion you, but for each 10th you manage to knock off your time, everybody else, similarly plugging away obsessively, will also knock another 10th off, leaving you, sadly, but inevitably, more or less in the same position as you are now. A better strategy would be to accept your relative level vis-a-vis the rest of the GT5TT world & spend your time more profitably elsewhere. :indiff:

Oh, & BTW: I'm currently at 1.50.028. ;)

Ah, you misunderstand...I'm competing against myself and I will give up once I feel there the equation of effort vs improvement becomes too much to make it worthwhile. At the moment it's positive.

Was that frustrating not to crack 1.49 or do you not have my obsession with meaningless numeric milestones?

You misunderstand ... I was trying to talk you out of pursuing the 73 one thousandths of a second required to beat my time. :sly:

Oh...nice one. Well how's about I don't tell you my latest time.

Well I will.

150.166.

Going backwards.
