Amongst all this screaming at each other over the appearance ("Standard cars look like teh sux." "No, standard cars look better than every other racing game this generation."), interiors ("Standard cars need interiors in order to not look like teh sux." "No, interiors are for yellow bellies. Use Bumper Cam."), numbers ("4/5ths of these cars are undrivable because they are teh sux." "No, there are absolutely 1000 similar quality cars in this game.") and our own expectations ("PD lied to use because 800 of these cars are teh sux." "No, us actually expecting 1000 cars is entirely our fault."), we have forgotten that, like it or not, we are going to have "800" cars to mess around with from GT4/GT3 using the new GT5 physics engine. So, of those carryover cars, what ones do you look most forward to playing around with in GT5?

Personally, I'm looking quite forward to fiddling with the Dodge Ram 1500. I had quite a lot of fun with it in GT4, far more so than any other car in the game (in fact, possibly to the extent that it was one of only a handful of cars that I did enjoy driving); and I can't wait to try it with a physics engine that doesn't think that the proper reaction to every steering input is piles of understeer. I enjoyed driving it in GTPSP with the cut-down version of the GT5 physics that that game had, but I can't wait to try it on a system that I can perform proper steering and throttle with*, be it DS3 or a wheel.

*Ironic being because I'm just going to use D-Pad and face buttons when I'm not using a wheel.

Edit: By the way, people who actually ascribe to the obvious extremes poked fun at above, feel free to take it up with me in the proper thread(s). I don't care to actually debate those viewpoints in this thread, because if I did I wouldn't have made this thread. Thank you.

Edit 2 - Electric Boogaloo: Also keep in mind, said people from Edit 1, that I am not saying those complaints are wrong, so don't get that impression either. I actually happen to agree with one of them. But they are still the extremes of the various arguments, and the contrast alone provides the humour.

Edit 3: Not a wishlist thread aarrrgghhh.

Edit 4: I know we don't officially know what cars will and won't be Standard. But please, at least attempt to do some research about the cars we know are Premium.

The opening paragraph is excellent, good sir  👍

Assuming it hasn't been switched to a Premy, the Ruf BTR will probably be the first Standard I drive. The Yellowbird's an obvious choice, but being weaker, the BTR's a bit easier to drive, and I get a choice of colour. Black with some black BBS rims (with the silver lip), N1's, 'Ring. Engage!

BMW M3 GTR Race Car '01 hopefully if it's in the game. I loved driving that thing around the ring, it was such a great match. Or any JGTC machines.

Not looking forward to driving any of them because they are undriveable without a cockpit view.

^ Kindly take that to one of the two "Bitching about Premium/Standard" threads.

Man, I hadn't even thought of the BTR.
Though recently I've been getting my Porsche fix quite well, so I might just be sick of them by the time GT5 comes out. :)

What's worse, people who moan or people who complain about people moaning? That first paragraph is pathetic and unnecessarily OTT.

As for which 'tard car I'm most looking forward to play, give me an official list of 'tard vs premium cars and I'll tell you.

I hope the Altezza, Impreza, S2000, FTO, and RX-7 LM race cars from GT3 make it. They were so much fun to drive and I have all 5 of them in that game.

What's worse, people who moan or people who complain about people moaning?
What's worse, people who can't take a joke or people who moan about complaining about moaning when there wasn't any complaining to begin with? I worded it the way I did on purpose, you know.

That first paragraph is pathetic and unnecessarily OTT.
You mean like an off-topic soapbox post in a completely unrelated thread complaining because the OP is taking the piss out of a debate that has become far too heated for its own good? I'm rather sorry if I've offended you by joking around with how bent out of shape everyone has been getting over this issue, but then again I don't really care in relation to this thread.

Hmmm, in that case then... how's about the Nardo? I had a blast with that thing on street tires, and it's possibly one of the fastest of all the supercars in GT4.

I'll definitely be hopping in the Ram at some point too, btw. I'm hoping we get a few more "unusual" choices to go with it. I really want a Rangie or Q7 just for the sheer absurdity of it.

Even worse: people without a sense of humour.

I'm also wondering how the constant use of "'tard" has somehow flown under the radar.

I think I'm going with the RUF Yellow Bird.
All I need are N1 tires and the Laguna Seca circuit.
Here we go...

We don't have a full list of what cars are standard models and what aren't, so what is the point of this thread?

People who moan, and especially those who don't understand what they're moaning about but moan because it's the thing currently "in". Those so called 'tard cars are the very same ones you so happily drove and drooled over in GT3 and GT4, only that they're looking and handling much better now. They're better than they've ever been yet you still moan.

On topic, unsurprisingly I'm looking forward to the Volvo 240 and hoping they've got its specs even remotely right this time. Then again they screwed it up just as badly in GTPSP as they did in GT4 so I'm not exactly holding my breath.

I'm still too worried about the Volvo at this point.

I've been thinking along the lines of the Cizeta. I admit that I am quite curious as to how it will drive using the GT5 engine, because I still remember the solemn disappointment I had when I finally tried driving it in GT4 and learned that the brakes were terrible and it plowed everywhere at all speeds. I admit that I could have used it in GTPSP as a tester, but I don't think I ever saw the car for sale in that game.

I'll definitely be hopping in the Ram at some point too, btw. I'm hoping we get a few more "unusual" choices to go with it. I really want a Rangie or Q7 just for the sheer absurdity of it.
I dunno about the Q7, but the Range Stormer seems like it would be another good one. As I recall from GT4, it handled something like a really big Evo when you drove it really hard. Though the rollover physics may put a stop to that.

Indeed.

We don't have a full list of what cars are standard models and what aren't, so what is the point of this thread?
Because we can very easily assume that the list will be the overwhelming majority of the GTPSP and GT4 lists. Just pick some car from GT4/GTPSP and talk about it. If it turns out the car is Premium, lucky you. It really makes no difference.

I'm hoping we're getting the Infiniti G20 from GTPSP. I couldn't find it in GT4. I own a G20t, and I would love to give it a good run on Infineon (my local track). I also want to try the Nissan Bluebird 1600.

:grumpy: Of course, the biggest (well, sort of ) Evo in the game can't
be used as it was in GT4.:grumpy:

Very clever Toronado I have to admit but how dare you to mock my sincerely held extreme viewpoint I fully and wholeheartedly ascribe to without hesitation, but since there's nothing much I can do about it ( and I would if I could ) I might as well reply.............

As some have already mentioned, some cars in GT4 ( although that number is very small ) might end up as Premium, just so you know.
As for my favourite cars in GT4, well that list is enormous and depending on which phase I was going through at that particular time, and I admit my memory card contained a 1000 cars ( the maximum amount, otherwise it could've been more I'm ashamed to say......) including at least one specimen of each car ( probably the only thing separating me from Noah.....oh, and the beard ).
My taste in cars is very eclectic but specific and there's a time and place to appreciate most cars in GT4 for what they are.
Ranging from those little Alpine-Renaults ( much like a French Porsche in concept ), Mini-Marcos, Ginetta and Caterham to those über-saloons like the M5, E55 and RS6 Avant and anything in between and outside.
The only cars or brands I wasn't aware of in real life before playing GT4 were Proto Motors and ASL which were nice surprises to an extend ( not my favourite cars ).

Okay long story short, the Standard car I'm looking out for most simply for the fact I haven't driven it in a previous game and I really love it in real life.
The Lamborghini Countach LP400, now if you excuse me I have to go back to the other 2 threads to ferociously defend my opinion.......:)

I hate the word man some of my friends are not in the best condition, and for people to use that word for a car in a game they don't like is foul IMO.

On topic Honda EG hatch Honda Ek Hatch Integra Type r (00) S2000 👍

I hope they are not standard cars but its possible:

-Ford GT LM (the box cover car), is my favorite GT4 car and is pretty easy do it premium, they just need to change textures the front lip, but since we have not seen it i asume is a standard car.

-Toyota Celicia GT-Four ST205 street version, again the rally version is premium and its pretty easy to make the street model but i asume is a standard car.

-Jaguar XJ220.

-Sauber C9

Well, if there's a standard car I'd be looking forward to, it'd have to be the Mercedes-Benz E190 2.5-16 Evo II.

God, I love that car. In my opinion, the last Merc that could go toe to toe with BMW's M3s.

MG TF 160 (2004, MG-Rover, was in GT4). I'm hoping that they'll include the 2010 MG TF 135 ('New' MG Motor) as premium aswell.

No word of a lie; I was about to say the same car

the Toyota GT-ONE Road Car

Serious question: is this basically the only car that disappeared between GT3 and GT4? I never, ever understood that, as it was a lot of fun to drive, in the sense it felt like it wanted to kill you.
