I recently asked Kaz Yamauchi about my car, the Volkswagen Scirocco. I still dont understand why this car is not in GT5. My version is the one which was first unveiled in 2008, and started being sold later that year. So, its been about 2 whole years since this car has been in production. (GT5 dosnt even have older models of the Scirocco which were from around 1987)

This is the reply I got (translated from Japanese): Missed in the last minute.

What do you think this means? The car isnt as recent as other cars in the game. Did they just forget?? Theres some cars in the game that are just a waste, for example the 4 versions of the VW Lupo.

PS: Does anyone know why the Montmelo Circuit in Barcelona is not in the game? I really wanted to be able to drive my car in that circuit since I cant in real life.

Was there ever anything to suggest it was ever going to be included? I don't recall anything. There's already a Spanish circuit in the shape of Madrid, so I don't see why Barcelona is so necessary.

the Barcelona circuit is an official Formula 1 circuit. The Madrid one is a made up circuit.

I remember seeing a video of Kaz Yamauchi in a car show looking at a Scirocco

ive waited like 5 years for this game. I feel dissapointed

The scirocco was even included in Need for Speed Shift!
sorry for the triple post

And your point is ... what, exactly? Polyphony never said they were including circuits simply because they were or are a part of the Formula 1 World Championship. And nor are they obligated to. If anything, they'd want to get away from that since they don't have the rights to the Formula 1 licence. The only reason why the Ferrari F10 and F2008 are in the game is because they purcahsed the individual rights from Ferrari, and the Formula 1 licence is most likely written up in such a way that would prevent people from racing an F10 against a Red Bull RB6, because such a race would technically be a Grand Prix, which Polyphony does not hve the rights to.

There was never any documentation to say Barcelona would be included. It's not on the same level of banality as Valencia is (though I've heard it's actually a lot of fun to drive in F1 2010), but nor is it on the same level as Spa.

Yeah, unfortunately that's not the way the cars get modelled in games.

I, too, am disappointed at the lack of some of the recent hot hatches in GT5.

Montmelo isnt just a formula 1 circuit you know? ive actually driven around it on a golf gti mk6.

and the monaco circuit is in gt5, and thats a formula 1 track.

If I may be brutally honest, I think there are only few things in the GT world that are more annoying than people wondering why a specific car x or a specific track y is not in the game.

Why is your scirocco not in the game? Who cares?

I am sorry if I came off a bit rude here, but can´t you not see that you could repeat the question for hundreds of other cars?

I could understand if your car was a ferrafi 458 or any other iconic car. But a scirocco? I mean its a nice car and all, but there are dozens if not hundreds of other cars in that category that are not included as well.

And asking Kaz about that? Seriously? Don´t you think that he might have better things to do than explaining to you why your scirocco is not in GT5?

Again sorry for sounding rude, but threaads like these kinda get me mad.

If I remember correctly, in the GT4:Prologue bonus "Making Of" DVD we could see PD staff taking pics of many cars. One of them ... a Morgan.

Bought GT4:P in 2004. That's 6 years of dissapointment for me then :dopey:

that made me funnay.

can i come visit you :dunce:👍 How far is it till the trial mountain?

A lot of the newer cars are not in.
They will make them premium from now on, so it will take some time. All the older cars came from GT4 or Gtpsp. Except the golf IV which is kind of normal as it is one of the most tuned cars.

yes, i know that theres lots of other cars and tracks missing. im not saying the scirocco HAD to be in the game, i simply thought that being a car from late 2008, it would be able to make it into the game. the audi a1 for example is really new, so i would understand why they didnt have time to add it. my car might not be as popular or as common as other cars, but theres some cars that are extremely popular and arent in the game either.

what i dont understand is why the game has certain cars. i think i remember seeing some kind of small truck. maybe that one is simply popular in Japan. the whole car list seems to be more relevant to Japan.

and the point of this thread was simply about the reply i got. its like if they didnt have enough time to add mine and other cars. i wish they would add more cars, i would even pay for mine just like i bought other cars from psn.

im sorry if you think im just complaining, i get that the game cant please all of us.

Yeah I get your point and I am sorry. It´s just like I don´t like this "why is my car not in the game" threads or posts as they are so irrelevant. I mean of course the focus will be on asian cars as PD is a japanese company.

Anyway, interesting to see that you got an answer from kaz, I would not have expected that.

There are lots of cars that should be in the game that aren't. I'm missing a Cadillac CTS-V for example...

Hopefully, many more cars will be made available as DLC very soon. I just wonder how long we'll have to wait....

Every gran turismo game is biased towards japanese cars especially 1 & 2 but they have introduced more cars from other countries as the games progressed. I do know what your saying though with it being a newish car and a fairly iconic one at that you could always hope for it to be added by dlc.

First of all, I'd say "hola" to Alex, I am from Barcelona, too.

Secondly, a little anecdote: in 2003 I was in L.A. attending E3, I got to interview Yamauchi with some other Spanish journalists (three of us were from Barcelona and one from Madrid). When we finished the interviews, Yamauchi asked us one question: "if GT4 were to have a Spanish track, what would be the best?". Obviously, the majority of us said Circuit de Catalunya in Montmeló (near Barcelona), and I tried to go a little further, hopping to excite Yamauchi a bit, and explained to him that there was a twisty mountain road right in Barcelona (L'arrabassada), where people used to have some illegal racing, etc, etc

Obviously, in the end, our silent journalist friend from Madrid silenty fulfilled his wish and Madrid got his circuit.

Just a little anecdote.

despite the fact that PD is biased towards japanese cars they still don't have all the recent ones. For example in the same category as the scirroco, the scion TC. It's been out since 06 and its the closest thing toyota has to a sports car these days...well besides the LFA :)

My dad has a 04 Hyundai Lard-butt, when i saw the car list and discovered it wasn't in it, I was like

No waaaaay

and Kaz was like

Waaaaay

and then I was like

Oh nooooo

Im pretty sure this will be GT3 all again. Then GT4 comes out with all the features GT3 misses. GT3 and GT5 are alike.

I agree. I feel like GT5 will sell a lot just like GT3 :D

You could always wait for the Scirocco update for Live for Speed on PC. It's supposed to be the most accurate simulation of the car ever! Problem is, we may see GT6 before the update is ever released....

Just remember somewhere in Japan, there is a kid, M'Fing Kaz because his 1972 Honda AZ 600 coupe is not in the game.

I'm sure their budget wasn't all too great when they made GT1 and GT2 and they probably didn't have the same outlook on the rest of the world. As the series has grown they have added more diverse portfolio of cars..

Even now they have added offical WRC, NASCAR and karts to be raced around.

As for op, you can't expect them to add every single car. They tried giving us 800 extra cars, and all I've seen on the internet is people bitching and complaining about the extra content and calling the game inconsistent.

Complaining is all we do these days, people in general have become thankless expect more and more..
louise ck said it correctly, everything is amazing and nobody is happy..

I think its funny, like others here and abroad, that where some cars that are sorely missed, others are over saturated. I've got the Apex book with me that came with the collectors edition (bad ass by the way). If you guys that have it will check out pages 243 and 245 there are 17 Honda S2000's. 16 of those have 250ps and weigh 1240 to 1260kg's. Now, was it necessary to beat us down with a car that hasn't changed much in the last 5 years? Prolly not. Could they have modelled a few more different years of the Mustang instead of 44 (according to Apex) Skylines? That would have been nice. I think I get what the OP is pointing out. Obligatory favouritism aside, this driving sim falls short in the "variety" of cars when you look at what each manufacturer has to offer over the other.

Before I get a Chuck Norris inspired flame thrower hosing my post, I love, LOVE L O V E my GT5 and all the good times I'm about to have this holiday season. See you guys at the track.
