Further explanation of theme, in the words of our Week 03 Winner, Revolution.:

I want to see shots which remind me of the hit motoring show which I'm sure
everybody has seen, Top Gear. So, that means heavy vignettes, lots of gradient
overlays and some stunning imagery! Try the cool and warm filters in the ingame
camera if you're less adept with Photoshop. To inspire yourselves, check out the
Top Gear Youtube channel and their website.

Note: Don't feel limited to the Top Gear test track, the boys on the show are always
doing epic road trips and drives through the countryside, so go exploring!

CARS: Road cars only
LOCATIONS: any
UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS: See above.

  • You may submit one entry. It must be your own work, and never previously used in a competition.
  • Mark your FINAL ENTRY clearly, with red text.
  • You may change your entry once. Do it clearly; edit out your previous entry, and either post the
change in a new reply, or in place of the original. USERS ATTEMPTING TO ENTER BOTH WILL BE DQ'd.
  • When submitting, use either a thumbnail or a preview image, linking to the full-size image.
  • A preview image is not only allowed, but encouraged! However, preview images can not exceed
500 pixels in either direction. This includes borders or drop shadow effects, keep that in mind.
  • A preview image must be representative of the full-size image. Do not add effects to it.
  • If opting to not use a preview image, and simply a thumbnail, an Honourable Mention thumb
    may be posted as well.
  • No full-size images posted in thread; your entry will be ignored.
  • It is recommended you host your image on ImageShack, Photobucket, or Flickr.
  • Not sure how to post a thumbnail or preview image? Read this sticky!
  • Winner gets to choose the following week's theme, as well as the poll. Every fourth week, the
poll will be H2H style: entries must choose a "team", and the best from each poll faces off.
  • Winners cannot enter in their own theme!

for the few of us that have never seen the show and are broadband restricted (not even a 1mb down), are there any other suggestions besides "heavy vignettes, lots of gradient overlays and some stunning imagery! "?

Hmmm, no chance at all of watching a couple clips on Youtube? It's really the best way to get a feel for the show. They have lots of exotic sports cars (and reasonably priced cars on occasion), a lot of the panning zoom blurs (Panning mode 2 or 3 👍), lots of contrast, usually colour filters like the 'warm' and 'cool' ingame camera filters.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXh25i7_3Is This GT5 trailer from E3 shows the Top Gear track from 0:58 to 1:18 and is pretty much exactly the sort of thing I'm talking about.

The two entries already in this thread are pretty close. :)

I hope that helped some!

no, it takes about 10 minutes to upload a picture and a preview :(

and thanks 👍

Do they stick to the road or do they play in the dirt as well?

Aah fair enough :(

They have done dirt races before, usually when doing cheap car challenges (ie $5k to buy a car and use it in a series of challenges, usually something from 10-15+ years ago).

They are mostly on tarmac though. :)

One of my favorite segments from Top Gear when they talked about the LFA.

For people who need inspiration, I suggest that you just look at TG car tests on YouTube :) if you can't load the videos quickly, you could try looking at the TG Wallpaper archives on their website (google Top Gear wallpapers) to get an idea of some of the angles they use

Yeah i noticed that..i wanted to make car a litlle more noticable and i gave the image a bit of brightness and contrast...but it came with a bit extra pixels also =/

You're gonna have to change your entry, Shidapu; Rev asked for road cars only :).

RULE CHANGE: It's a small one, but seeing as how 2.0 has always been about "the elite", so to speak, the poll size always has to be smaller than normal PMC. Sooooo... Rev will only be picking the top 20 this week. Continue bringing your A-game!

Being how this is Top Gear we are talking about I just had to choose an American car from the 70's.:P

Final Entry.............Unless I get the gradient tool figured out.
